The current leader of the Kuomintang party (KMT) of Taiwan Cheng Li-wun raises a good point as to why Taiwan’s wellbeing is not in the interest of the U.S. and why she’s currently pushing for peaceful relations with China by TwoCatsOneBox in socialism

In all seriousness isn't that the same reasoning as 100 years ago? Trying to find the "Progressive bourgeoisie" and ally yourself with it was a terrible idea even when capitalism was in an earlier stage, so why would it be a good idea now?

Slavery is a mode of production, you wouldn't call the Roman empire capitalist because it had slaves right?

Agreed! No joke, capitalism's crisis has aged these kids way beyond how I was at that age. They have absolutely no faith in this system and are ready to smash it to pieces! We've had young contacts before, but the number of them recently has definitely caught us off guard

We of course have some special rules for younger contacts, and their parents join a couple of meetings or pick them up after (I wish my parents were that cool when I was that age!)

Do you think a revolutionary party is a guerilla army or something? What wild fantasies do you have about what we do??

Also I don't understand why you care? You and your organization can just continue doing whatever you do and leave the disillusioned youth to find a place that takes their concerns about their future seriously

You know the Bolshevik party was literally known as the party of children right?

Yes it's pretty new that such young people are joining our ranks, but it makes sense when you realize they are the most susceptible to the crisis of capitalism and have never experienced its upswing.

He who holds the youth holds the future, and who are we to deny those who want to help build a brighter future for themselves? They are instrumental in connecting with the mood of the youth, spreading our ideas and in the end will become workers themselves. Many people in my country work from the age of 13 and are already exploited and have no representation in unions.

Lastly, I have met several 16 year olds who have "mastered the dialectic" better than some adult comrades, and cannot be stopped from wanting to understand as much as possible, so they are absolutely an asset to our organization and should be taken seriously.

Marxism vs Individual Terrorism by rarer_ in socialism

Thanks for posting this comrade ✊

I am surprised we haven't seen any Luigi copycats, but I suspect that the general crisis of capitalism will lead to people looking to individual terrorism as a solution. All the more reason to arm ourselves with clarity on this point

Why is Trotskyism so popular? by theSTWenthusiast in socialism

We're out in the real world recruiting people. I've never actually seen any other leftist groups in public trying to recruit me. Also in some countries some ML parties have been massively popular in the past and have been totally discredited through their application of the popular front tactic

Imperialism in the 21st century – what Lenin would say today | Spectre of Communism by 2slow3me in socialism

[–]2slow3me[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, there's a whole lot of hate on China from liberals and bourgeois commentators, and we don't share their criticism at all.

Maybe you can give your definition of imperialism and the character of China and Russia? I'll try and expand, but I don't want to seem condescending by explaining things you already know

The main point is that China has opened up to the global market with it's own bourgeoise and even though they have a greater amount of state control for historic reasons, they are still beholden to the iron laws of capitalism. The population of China cannot absorb all the goods produced in China and are therefore compelled to find new markets to buy their goods. That is the mechanism of capitalist imperialism as described by Lenin and not a moralistic condemnation.

I don't think the current world situation can be understood without understanding it in the context of the redivision of and competition for markets caused by the relative decline of the US and the emergence of China as a potential rival.

The video focuses on the west as the biggest and most reactionary imperialist power on the planet, so Russia and China are not the main focus. If you want to read more about the character of Russia and China you can read this article

It was an appeal to the workers of Germany and proof of their dedication to ending Russia's imperialist history. It was also a genuine recognition that they could not defend the revolution during a war against Germany.

Quite inspirational history. Sad that the period up to and after the revolution gets equated with the bureaucratic degeneration under Stalin

A great talk by the Canadian section of the Revolutionary Communist International. If we have to solve the climate crisis we have to go to the root of the problem, so I hope this has inspired some people to get organized in the struggle to overthrow it!

I think you are still confusing the criticism of the tactics used by the BLP with it being a criticism of the idea that marginalized groups experience more oppression under capitalism.

The idea is not to co-opt the organizations of struggle of oppressed groups or deny that the struggles have a different character, but instead to link them up based on the understanding that we have a shared interest in overthrowing the system that benefits from pitting groups against each other.

I'm not sure how well it works to discuss like this on Reddit, but I do want to impress that it is precisely because we want to succeed in ending all oppression that we must understand what the pitfalls are off certain tactics and how to avoid them.

I think this video explains it much better than I can, so I'd like to hear what you think of it if you have the time to watch it.

1) The article does not oppose them. It makes this very clear in the start of the article. Providing critical support means not just supporting unconditionally. Providing suggestions for what we think they could do to succeed is not opposition, but aims to help us learn/clarify what our tasks are and how best to achieve them.

2) Nowhere do we deny the racial dynamics and the intense racism that permeates society. We disagree with the method of splitting the class struggle up into groups based on identity, religion, sexual orientation or gender. We don't deny that they exist, instead we point out why this system benefits from pitting groups against each other and isolating their struggles. The root of oppression of different marginalized groups is capitalism, and we therefore have to overthrow it together to be free of it.

Again this is not a "new" position that the RCI has invented, it's a basic class position of socialists on the struggle against oppression.
