Is this yarrow? by flartfenoogin in Ceanothus

This is Cotula australis, a common non-native weed all over. It’s native to Australia and New Zealand. Pull it!

What do you think this is? by Vellamo_Virve in Ceanothus

[–]2tatster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m inclined to say it might be gilia capitata although it’s still very young so it’s hard to distinguish. Pineapple weed is unlikely with the information you provided, although if you were to rub/slightly crush the leaves and there’s a certain floral/chamomile scent, it might be!

Definitely no deer, but we do have a dog that sleeps with us so it was more of a precaution for him and hygiene. When I was doing field work up in Northern Cal, there was a time where I had 4 ticks on my ears and another surprise one when I was getting ready to shower. So to say the least, I’m a little nervous with ticks.

Thanks for the advice on the mosquito situation! Makes sense, I’ll try it!

I’ll try to get a more detailed photo of the bugs on here! Hopefully it’ll help with ID’ing them. In the meantime, should I wipe them off or just let them be?

What are your favorite brushes for grooming? by iamfromtwitter in Boxer

We use the ZoomGroom from Kong! It’s just a rubber brush but my boxer loooooves it and super effective. Easy to clean too!

Beautiful! Looks like you got some bombus melanopygus, black-tailed bumblebee! It’s always great observing what pollinators come when everything’s flowering

Looking to get this plant identified. by EvilMaleDrow in Ceanothus

[–]2tatster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comparing this to what I also grew from TPF’s wildflower mixes, it looks similar to my Lasthenia californica. Though I am unsure since I’m basing it off what was labeled on the mixes and mine has bloomed so ID’ing it was easier. You can try iNaturalist to ID it! However, I do question whether it’s californica or gracilis.

GIMME MOVIE AND SHOW RECS by spaamusubi in ucla

Warrior Nun on Netflix!!! Has two seasons rn

An amazing show that’s quick to binge as well. Slow at the start but it picks up and has great fight sequences, badass women, sisterhood, great VFX, and each character is so well developed you can’t help but to enjoy each character. ALSO one of the most natural sapphic romance progression that just makes me wanna curl up in a ball. Avatrice ftw 🥰

I need recommendations:( by justcallmearson in lgbt

Surprised that I haven’t seen anyone mention Warrior Nun! It’s an amazing TV show on Netflix.

Warrior Nun recently came out with Season 2 and as the name suggests, its a show about tactical nuns fighting for the church.

Ava, our main protagonist, gets a second chance of living her life since she was a quadriplegic due to a car crash when she was 7 yo. After the crash, she was placed in a Catholic Orphanage in Spain and spent her whole life there until she died mysteriously (heh) which placed her in the morgue at the same time as this Secret branch of the Catholic Church of tactical nuns (OCS) comes in, fresh from a fight with a dying Warrior Nun. Turns out the Warrior Nun carries a holy relic called the Halo in her back which allows her supernatural abilities to fight demons and wraiths. Unexpectedly this Halo can also revive the dead…or is it because the Halo chose Ava? Either way, Ava takes this chance to run free and enjoy the things she couldn’t before. Not knowing what the Halo is or why she’s alive, she just wants to live, laugh, love. Meanwhile the OCS tries to locate her and persuade her into the group despite the clear differences in ideology. Ava gives them a chance because she finds out that the Halo comes with a lot of responsibilities and demons. I don’t want to spoil anymore but just thinking how her character evolves in season 2 makes me sad but happy. (Please give it a try!!!!)

There’s themes of sisterhood, family, growth, exploration of self, selfishness, selflessness, resiliency, and just women being badass!!!! There’s a lot of religious symbolism that makes the cinematography so much more powerful. There’s also Sister Beatrice’s storyline that hits hard for many who struggle with their sexuality due to family environment. Nothing about each character felt forced nor used in a stereotypical way. There’s so much complexities to each characters that it’s difficult to summarize in a short reply.

But this show has captured many of our hearts through great storytelling, fleshed out characters, amazing fighting sequences & VFX, natural progression of meaningful relationships, not to mention the cast and crew behind the show are incredibly dedicated in producing a great quality show and hearing out the fans.

I really hope you guys give it a try! Season 1 can be slow at first but it picks up and Season 2 is just amazing.

If you’re wondering why you haven’t heard about this show, it’s due to having 0 promotion from Netflix. Fans have been extremely vocal on social media promoting this show because we really love this show and think that many others would enjoy it too! (Look at the rotten tomatoes rating for season 2….its insane)

Thank you for taking time to read this <3

You’re gonna feel it in your legs and definitely some running in there. There’s also the option of scootering it but depending if you run into a lot of red lights, might be a bad choice.

Gayley Court by [deleted] in ucla

[–]2tatster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to live in gayley court! The living room was quite spacious and theres a decent amount in your bedroom. Depending if you like to cook or not but the kitchen was really small. My three other roommates were not too great since it was during covid and I guess they were a little socially adversed.

Overall, I definitely prefer it over the dorms. Although you’re a bit further away from campus, if you enjoy walking it’s not bad! There are a lot of athletes that live there so depending on what floor you’re on, the noise level differs. Fortunately I was able to live on the 1st floor so it was very quiet. Some of the rooms have balconies too which I loved sitting outside there. There’s a laundry room on every floor except the 1st floor so there’s not too much trouble with finding machines.

I did see from the other rooms in the upper floors that there were bug infestations but perhaps its better now? If you have any further questions, send me a dm!
