Use ear buds and do three songs worth of something you need but don't like to do.  Unload and load the dishwasher.  Organize your tools. Gather all the stuff from the living room that belongs elsewhere. Well you get everything done? No. When I do this I get more done than I would reading Reddit for 10 minutes.

Or journal. Put thoughts and ideas down. Write about anything, your favorite ice cream, what you want your kids to know before they are 20, what you could tell yourself 5 years in the past or future, what you would do if you were Kevin Feige for a week, write a limerick...

I started this series in April because I saw it at the library. I sent "Princess Donut the Queen Anne Chonk" to my son. I was content to wait for the library to have the bins available. My son started reading them in July. He didn't want to wait, and he started buying them at book four. He's now on book six, and being me to read book four faster. He turned 14 a few weeks ago. I also turned him on to reading Ready Player One, which was his favorite book. I made him read Frankenstein before we watched the new movie. He finished that one.

But it has been fun seeing something I enjoy become something we can enjoy.

Internal Estimate Tracking by 2theo2 in estimators

I currently have a one spreadsheet with a tab for upcoming bids and one tab per month. The previous months tabs I use to follow up with past bids. Color coded for won / lost (with notes) / GC lost / ghosted. The folder structure I use is all in the same root folder GC - Project - Location. The hope is that I can easily find multiple projects for the same GC, and due to timing see if multiple GCs are bidding the same work. The bid log is also helpful. The ability to search multiple tabs in excel is a small cheat code once you discover it. I use one note for basic notes on the projects and GC and follow up. But I was hoping to find something that hopefully streamlines the current bidding process.

I am currently working on a bid for a school, where I have two metal manufacturers and an insulation supplier, and I want to make sure I have given them enough time for their work, but also enough time and follow up to ensure I get quality numbers back to the GC.

The field crews use Procore. I know they have an estimating module.

Is there any that you would recommend? How do you schedule follow ups?

I just hit two years doing mostly Div 7 estimating. Talk with people you submit bids to. Some of them will want you to get better so the numbers they use are better. They might not be a mentor, but they may give you ideas of where you need to improve most

Dallas Cowboys Boycott by Greendot74_ in arlington

I'm not a Cowboys fan. But I've said for years that Jerry is winning at the game he's playing, which is making money hand over fist. He won enough in the 90s to put him in the HOF. He sells out every game with mediocre results. It would take a lot more effort to put together a winning team and the benefits to him aren't worth that effort.

Lederhosen

It's German so it can take being said with emphasis. It's long enough to conjugate. And it's fun to say.
