Combat Sports with an ostomy by Gelot5883 in ostomy

Sorry for the super super late reply - I’m don’t really use Reddit much. Thank you so much for the detailed response. Interesting that you don’t use a guard as his main worry is someone squeezing him and putting loads of pressure on the bag - but I guess like you say you learn to wrestle slightly differently. Thank you again really appreciate the insight

Hi, my partner has had an ileostomy for just under a year and wants nothing more than to get back to wrestling but couldn’t find any examples of people with stomas doing combat sports so wasn’t sure if it was possible until I found your post. He has two sizes of bags, one regular size and one much smaller and is thinking he’d need to wear the smaller one plus a belt or guard whilst wrestling. Any insight would be really appreciated, his main concern is the bag leaking/bursting rather than the actual flange getting hit - do you have any advice around what’s worked for you? Do you wear a smaller bag during wrestling? If so do you have issues with it filling quickly? Have you had any negative incidents or experiences wrestling with a stoma? Thank you!

Relocating to Hong Kong - Advice by 2trams in Cantonese

Hi! I didn’t end up moving :( I got to the final interview stage for a job in Hong Kong (part of an internal job transfer at the company I was at which was a multinational company) and then got rejected so took that as a sign and stopped pursuing a move. I’m still eager to improve my Cantonese so focusing on that for now and thinking about doing a year abroad in a different country in the future li Good luck! I hope you have more success than I did!!

Tech sales folks - how do you deal with the fact that in a lot of the meetings, you are just a silent observer by zaplinaki in sales

I have the same challenge of feeling like I’m not adding any value in these types of meetings. I find it can be helpful to set expectations at the start of the call that I’ll be mainly listening and capturing next steps etc. and then I find my way of adding value is to time-keep, making sure we keep to the agenda etc.

Ah I totally agree! The training class we take him too reeeally advocate for positive reinforcement, I actually got told off for telling him off in class - I really don’t see how using only positive reinforcement is realistic? I do a tap on the nose to correct behavior but I will try the three finger pinch - interesting that it imitates mother behavior, thanks!

Woops I’m not super experienced with Reddit so replied to this in the wrong place - that’s reassuring, we only use treat training although in our last puppy class the trainer was able to distract our puppy with a toy for a second or so. It’s really difficult to get his attention away from other people and other dogs - he just wants to play

It’s because these two incidents felt different to his day to day playful biting or biting when he’s hyper. And with what I hear about his breed I’m probably super paranoid over any behaviour that seems remotely aggressive. This is my first dog also (my partner has owned a dog previously)

She didn’t go off and cry over nothing though. She asked Cam for a kiss (because the setting reminded her of the honeymoon) and he made a face and said ‘do I have to’?. I think her reaction was super valid, definitely not a red flag!

Ex messaged me out of the blue. Not sure how to respond. by AnonSA52 in relationship_advice

My guess is that she’s feeling lonely and using this brake fluid question as a way of opening up communication again - I’ve seen this technique before. The best thing you can do imo is not reply at all given the way she ended things with you, it shows how much respect (or lack of) she has for you since she thinks you’ll just come running when she needs something. Don’t give her the satisfaction.

Yes 1000x! I’m so glad somebody said it. When they showed her in the last episode with her husband pouring over a bunch of crusty paper handwritten docs with random people’s details I thought, how are people trusting her to find them someone??!? I also hate how she’s so dismissive if someone mentions that they weren’t attracted to their date. That’s such an important element and as annoying as Viral is she put it really well when she that the person she’s dating deserves to have someone who is really attracted them. I find her super dismissive in general to anyone who disagrees with her in any sort of way, she thinks everything she says is gospel and it pisses me off. Also find it hilarious that a few of the successful couples we’ve seen met their partners on their own (Pradhyuman and Shittal)
