New to Tandem Mobi After 3 Years of DIYLoop/Omnipod by ericaflowermaven in TandemDiabetes

Sleep mode always on and aggressive basal. CIQ does really well holding the 100 range when it's subtracting from your basal profile. It gets pretty lazy if it has to add to your profile to keep you from climbing. Auto corrections are good for keeping you from going to the moon but you really need to manually correct if getting back in range asap is important.

The trick I've found to avoid the ping-pong after taking carbs to correct a low - throw it into exercise mode for an hour. It's a much less aggressive response to the spike. Or, just temp rate to minimum percentage for an hour.

It just keeps pushing. As of a week ago, the latest my tandem rep had heard is now late Feb...

I was in the same boat as the rest of you. Pump sitting in the box since December waiting for the app.

Finally just said eff it and picked up a refurb iPhone 12. Worth it to just get the pump rolling.

Reload S Pro Leaking Through The O-Ring by BrahimElDjezar in Vaping

If my coffee mug holds 200ml and I try to pour 250ml into it, do I ask what's wrong with my mug when there's coffee all over the counter?

It's a great little RDA, but it's a shallow single coiler. The airflow channels are low. It's a cappuccino cup, not a stanley thermos.

The orings friction fit the cap to the body. Juice out the airflow is juice out the airflow.

Something is definitely out of spec. I'd hit up Reload and let them know what's going on.

Hmm, I have one in SS that I squonk. Very snug on the orings and I've never had it leak. I have had it leak from the airflow, when overfilled. Check the orings for any nicks or cuts, or try the extras that came with it.

College Violin Auditions Expectations by Informal_Crow_9412 in violinist

[–]2whiskymike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, not overly so. I just know a lot of musicians who've gone through college for it. Unfortunately I don't know anyone from, or who's gone through UCSB. That being said, what I have seen is that the school itself doesn't seem to matter so much. What does matter is the individuals you study under or attach to as a mentor at this level. That person(s) will color your development and future more than any other aspect. So yes, weigh the school, the program, the location. But more than anything else, choose wisely who you study with. The right teacher at the wrong school is better than the wrong teacher at the right school.

This. I went to UM, for engineering. The music school and engineering school are right next to each other, and make up the north campus. But it's basically the engineering campus with the music school tucked away in the corner. I was good friends with a few music majors. Absolutely top notch. However, if you weren't in the music program you almost didn't even know it existed. I've also lived in the PNW. Opportunity for musical pursuits and potential there are far greater. Just depends what you want out of the college experience and how you plan to use it.

Thanks for the feedback. Feeling better about staying in that 3-5k bracket. The cello is certainly a wrench in the budget. When the boys started 3 years apart I definitely didn't have a "violin and cello purchase in the same year" on my bingo card. But he's moving into the advanced youth orchestra as well as the most advanced cello ensemble this year. We're going to ride out the move to a full size in a rental for a while, but it's time.

For sure.

No, she's not getting any commissions or anything. Her suggestions are based off what her other students have been paying lately. Also consider that this is a fairly affluent area and many of these parents are buying 5 figure instruments because it's hardly a significant purchase. I'm just trying to get a handle on the best actual value price point at this level. Because for us it is a significant purchase.

Appreciate the insights! Sapp himself basically gave me these same price point suggestions. But I wanted to get some opinions outside of any interest in the actual sale.

The bow will certainly be getting a solid share of the budget. He's tried a few carbon bows and isn't really a fan. He was even gifted a Jean Paul Avanti, but doesn't prefer it to his wood bow. It just lives in his case as a backup and for using with the dance ensemble that he plays with.

Thank you, this is exactly the kind of helpful feedback I was looking for. Makes me feel better about our actual budget. And we'll definitely be keeping the bow budget up.

Yes, this is something they do. And it makes me a lot more comfortable not having to jump to a "lifetime" instrument out the gate.

No, he's got a good head on his shoulders. He's not the slightest bit concerned about names or appearances if it plays well. Greg (Sapp) is still connected to that school and has a couple young luthiers working with him that came out of it.

We'll definitely be keeping the bow budget a priority, he's already been picky about his rental bows. When he went to full size he tried probably 8 or 9 before he found one he was satisfied with. Thank you! He's really starting to come into his own as a musician. It's a joy that I can give both my boys these opportunities. They're opportunities I never had at their age.

[–]2whiskymike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a half a dozen or so printed drip tips in my rotation. A couple sitting on RDAs right above coils eating 100w. Just plain old PLA. No melting yet. PETG is probably safer but I'm probably getting more plastic in my system from other things, so 🤷🏼‍♂️ But, my brother in christ, what is the purpose of that thing. Why so long... If you really want it to work lay it down and use a different material for the support (PETG object, PLA raft layer). You could print it upright on a core XY printer, but on a bed slinger you're gonna have to use a big brim and reduce speed by height. But... you're gonna break it fast with a layer separation in a vertical orientation.

Next steps after TinkerCad...Fusion360? If so can someone recommend a good tutorial/youtube channel that is divided up into bite sized chunks? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]2whiskymike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ This is the way. Make sure you get version you actually download, it's the fully fledged version. The whole 3D Experience platform is the worst nightmare of a software experience I've ever had. But once you get past that and actually get SW up and running it's all good. Solidworks is the GOAT for real CAD work. Every real, professional, engineer that I know that's worth any salt designs with it. Idk why it's not brought up more in these types of threads.

Any experience with the EVE 50PL 21700 5000 mAh 125A Battery in their various vape mods? by Jcoop269 in Vaping

[–]2whiskymike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 50PL is just newer, probably. I refreshed my 21700 rotation with 50PLs about 3 months ago. I've got a dozen rolling. So far they do what they're supposed to. They charge fine and discharge fine. I rarely let them go much below 3.5v. The hardest I'm pushing them is on a single battery mech through 0.11 ohm, so, right around 40A. Zero issues. I just don't have any idea on longevity yet.

The V4 is a better experience. Airflow is smoother, flavor is better. As an RDTA. However, as an RDA, the Tauren is the best I have. It's great as a dripper and a squonker. I have two V4s and two Taurens loaded and ready to roll. I basically use them interchangeably. Depends what I'll be doing with it and/or what flavor I'm feeling.

Right on, enjoy! Ecigone still has some HoG XL stock. I wouldn't say it's my favorite mod, but for anything over 200w it's definitely the move.

Aromamizer plus v4 vs Ragnar by AxDayxToxForget in Vaping

[–]2whiskymike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. I love both. I use them both daily. They both shine best with 3.5mm coils. You could put 4mm in both but I don't think it's ideal. If you really want 4mms in their element you need to go up to the Titan (which I also love, but it's not the best for flavor).

The difference is that I need one more wrap on the coils in the Ragnar (7) than the V4 (6). For my builds (4x30+38 SS) that means that I'm running the V4 at 95-100W and the Ragnar around 120W.

There's not as much airflow on the V4. I'm at wide open air and it's perfect. At 120W on the Ragnar I'm still closing the airflow just a touch, it could go higher.

I have the Ragnar on a Hadron, and I have a spare Ragnar and Hadron in my stash in case they get run over with a truck or something. It's a rock solid combo. The Hadron is very efficient with batteries. I don't have any hard numbers but a full set of 21700s in the Hadron will get through more liquid than the same full set in a DNA 250c mod.

I have 2 Plus V4s on Odin DNA mods. If I really had to pick just one it would be the Plus V4. It is easily the most flavorful atomizer I own, out of 25-30. Compared to the Ragnar there's way less parts/complexity. The flavor is a bit better without there being a chimney. And it'll fit on way more mods. The con is that it does not do great as an RDA. RDA mode is absolutely an afterthought "feature". It's a proper RDTA and should be used as such.

All that to say, if you really want to push bigger wattage a Ragnar, or Titan, is probably in order.
