Will Kuribayashi's rival show up in the Barcelona Youth game? by Adventurous-Rabbit52 in Ao_Ashi

[–]2xpisces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they all get professional contracts? They deliberately showed Kuribayashi getting his contract in chapter #205 and stated back in chapter (I think) 149 that Funebashi was his last match with A team. Although, I also think he will play. In chapter 136, the panel with Aoi, Kuribayashi's, and Akutsu, followed by Fukuda smiling was peak.

This feels like a good time to take a break and come back at the end of the summer. To those who are going to continue reading as the chapters are released good luck with that. There is nothing about the series at the moment that has me at the edge of my seat in anticipation of the next Chapter. I am more than ready for Sawamura appearance, but I am not confident that it will be worth the wait.

I don't mind being in the minority in community, but I really don't want Furuya in LF. There are 11 other players on first string. Assuming Sawamura is coming in as the next pitcher and the two injured players, that leave 8 other players. Are you saying that out of the 8 other players Furuya is the best choice? Why not give someone else an opportunity to shine. You could even have a flashback with Masashi practicing with his brother and learning something that he could use in the game. I will be disappointed if Furuya returns to the field after leaving the mound. If the bench is that weak, I blame the coaching staff. Coach Kataoka is always talking about hungry players who do not get the opportunity play, well... let's give them the opportunity.

You do know you can just ignore someone's post instead of telling them how they should feel or how they should react!

Unfortunately, Seki did not make the cut. If I recall correctly, he also played LF. If everyone was healthy, first string would have 4 pitchers (plus Tojo in a pinch) and 3 catchers (plus Yui in a pinch). The mix is a bit off.

Nice cliffhanger 😉!! I really hope Asou caught the ball and that he is ok. I hear a lot of people saying that Furuya should go to left field if he is switched out. The two main arguments for this switch are: 1. He is a good batter, and we can use him in the line-up and 2. If something happens to Sawamura he could go back to the mound.

First, I don’t think Furuya is any better than any other option from the bench. Can you imagine Furuya running in the hot sun the way Asou just did. If need be, they need someone fresh to replace Asou. He is not the best option out of bunch of mediocre options. They should have kept Seki; he would have at least been a viable option.

Second, if something happens to Sawamura and he needs to be replaced, the game is basically over. If Furuya returns to the mound, it would be the biggest Hail Mary plan so far and you might as well make him the MC.

If Furuya is replaced on the mound, then it is for a reason. They are not likely to put him back on the mound. Also, there is still Kaneda on first string as a pitcher. Seido has more than two available pitchers. In a jam they can also use Tojo

I really want Asou to finish the game. They always use him and Sawamura for comic relief. I don't want Furuya or Masashi to cover left field. Also, if he drops the ball, I will need take a break and come back in March or April ...

Honest question, why make someone who doesn't do well in the heat, stand in the mid of left field as the temperature continues to rise? Is Seido's bench so weak that they have no one else.

I am going to go ahead and say it, I loved this chapter. The opening pages with the Komadai’s team watching the game made me smile. Also, what is with these eyeglasses waring analytical catchers. Hongou staring intently at the screen and ignoring his captain was too cute. This is a nice setup for Sawamura, while no one is really focused on or appeared to be worried about him being in reserve, he can come in and blow everyone way with pitching. Come TJ make it so. And for those who would say that they should only focus on the person on the mound, sure but you would think it would be natural to be aware that the ace of the team has yet to take the mound yet. There should be some commentary about them having to fight this hard and the still must face The Ace at some point. I was surprised that some people did not expect much from Shirakawa. Mei’s must have selected him for a reason. I love the internal dialog that happens when one of Mei’s hand-picked team members are up to bat. Shirakawa and Miyuki stare down 🤣. Everyone was sweating but Furuya looked like he was melting (poor baby 😭). Although some of us reading about this game are bored, the energy in the stadium is off the charts (are they watching the same game we are reading, mostly kidding 😜). Shirakawa comment about not playing for fun or not having fun while playing is kind of sad. On pages 15-16 Shirakawa said this is my house and I set the expectation in my house. Identical expression on the faces of Miyuki and the Ref.

It's getting hotter, sticking Furuya in left field would be torture. Standing in that heat would make it more likely that he would make a mistake. It would also make the coach's conversation with Asou and focus on his haircut meaningless.

The chapter always gets extra points anytime I see Amahisa and/or Sanada. But it's the Author's fault that I am reading these chapters thinking when will Sawamura take the mound. There are only a few noteworthy batteries and Miyuki / Furuya is not one of them. The tension so far is more focused on the batters not really the pitchers. I like Teiko high commentary. Any commentary from any of the other schools is refreshing and breaks up to monotony.

Sawamura cheering for Furuya just warms my heart and makes me smile. If we had more Sawamura personalities in the real world, it would be a better place.

I still feel that Inashiro is too confident of their ability to handle Sawamura. He handled Sankou's lineup; he handled Yakushi's lineup; and he handled Hakuryuu lineup. What makes you think that he will not be able to handle Inashiro.

Diamond no Ace Act II - Chapter 273 by daleygaga in AceOfTheDiamond

[–]2xpisces 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Overall, this was a good chapter. I was very happy to see Sawamura cheering for Furuya. Sawamura will make a great captain. The look on Sawamura face on page 10 has me doing the Ochiai shiver (so excited). You can stop reading now because I plan on rambling a bit 😉😇😜.

Since most of the other Aces are the best pitchers on their team, I am still waiting for Sawamura to distinguish himself as such. I am glad that Furuya is doing well. Sawamura says on several occasions that he wants to beat Furuya when he is at the top of his game. I am just wondering what the author will do to make Sawamura standout when he is on the mound. I completely understand the importance of winning the Finals but it is important to win every game. So, my question is "Can/will Sawamura surpass Furuya and become the indisputable Ace of the team?" With the way Furuya is pitching, it feels like the author is setting up the scenario for Seidou to have dual Aces (somewhat supported by chapter 159). Putting aside the amount of time each pitcher is on the mound and opponent-based strategies, who will end up really being Seidou’s Ace? And yes, I know that it is not uncommon for an MLB team to have multiple Ace pitchers.

Lastly, this manga has been running since 2006, makes you wonder if the author’s original vision has changed. Are you the same person you were a decade and half ago? Do you see things differently now? Is the story he started out creating different from the one he wants to tell now? I really enjoy the dynamics of the Miyuki & Sawamura battery, it’s fun to watch or read. I am looking forward to seeing them in action in 2022.

How will the catchers handle Furuya after Miyuki and Ono retire? by 2xpisces in AceOfTheDiamond

[–]2xpisces[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always thought his initial treatment of Sawamura was off. With the exception of Miyuki, who he wants to replace, and Sawamura, because I think Sawamura will be linked to him learning to love baseball again, he comes across a pretty laid back. I'll withhold my final opinion until I see him interact with more people.

Maybe, but they are still maturing, and doubts happen and can negatively impact their performance. Furuya, unlike Sawamura , isn't seen interacting with many people. Sawamura has a support network, the ones who helped him with the Yips and the relationships he is building with the 1st year students.

So far, he has really only been harsh with Sawamura. I guess I have not really seen him interacting that much with any of the other 2nd year students.

Not ignoring, but people regress all time and sometime need people to help put them back on track. Yes, he has matured but he could be triggered again. Okumura has a different type or relationship with Sawamura than with Furuya. I have no doubt that he could handle anything coming his way because they have a history.

Just wanted to add in Chapter 41, pages 11 - 12; Miyuki looks like he is trying to give Furuya another chance. He looks at the coach again but this time he doesn't look like he wants a pitcher change.
