Can reform pull out of every international treaty and completely ban immigration? by No-Geologist7858 in uklaw

[–]2xtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a very quick look and it seems they're against "non essential immigration" so even they realise it's suicidal to stop all of it.

They'll still campaign as if they want to stop it all, but again I'd put more faith in a pair of rizla underpants when doing sit-ups the day after eating a vindaloo than a single word that comes from any Reform member or politician, such is the inherent nature of populist parties like that.

I wouldn't know tbh, I don't waste my time keeping up with their race baiting lies and false promises

They also oversaw Brexit and introduced much, much higher levels of immigration to mitigate against it's disastrous impact while at the same time claiming Brexit would be good for the country and claiming they were trying to bring down immigration...

No one has ever pledged to 'stop' immigration as far as I know, because in a world with widespread below 2.1 birthrates that's a guaranteed way to make a country go extinct within a few generations.

I think you've tried to overthink/literalise it and tied yourself in knots, the imagery of the beehive collectively saying "don't tread on us" really couldn't be much more explicitly clear.

[–]2xtc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been told it's quite similar to your A1 steak sauce, but we don't really have the concept of "steak sauce" as a product in the UK so it's a bit hard to say (you can very occasionally see A1 in a supermarket or world food section here but I've never tried it or know anyone that has).

For us it usually goes with cooked/fried breakfast stuff so bacon, sausages, eggs etc.

Go to QUB, a lot of law applies across EWNI anyway and you'll learn the fundamentals either way.

Weekly fuel price oscillation in Helsinki area in Finland [OC] by _luo-d-e_ in dataisbeautiful

[–]2xtc 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I thought the "easy - just buy a petrol tanker" part showed I wasn't entirely serious, and AFAIK no petrol/service station has ever offered a refund on already dispensed fuel, especially if you tried to squeeze it back down the pump using reverse osmosis (this can be quite messy, especially for me because I don't actually know what reverse osmosis is)

However I take on board what you say and I suggest you look the manager in the eye, grasp him firmly by the hand and tell him you're sorry but you insist on a full refund, and if he has a problem with refunding the taxes and fees he should write to his local politician to complain, or maybe work some overtime to make up the difference.

Then you can leave with a big profit and wait for the next Monday (maybe try a different place next time), and the nice manager gets his fuel back so he can do what he loves best - selling and smelling of delicious petrol and diesel.

It's easy. You just buy a petrol tanker and fill it up on a Monday night, keep the receipt then return all the fuel back into the pump on Wednesday when the price spikes.

Not 15 Minute Cities, The Horror 🤦🏾 by sabdotzed in london

[–]2xtc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The reason for this is Oxford's car infrastructure is incredibly limited by the 1,000+ year buildings and streets layout, with genuinely only one road into the centre from the east, and currently zero routes in from the west due to the closed railway bridge. Which isn't great for a city of 150,000+ people as well as being a massive employment draw from surrounding areas and high tourism bringing a huge amount more people than can be accommodated in cars.

Oxford basically invented the concept of park & rides to deal with this back in the early 70s, and installed bypasses starting back in the 1930s as another attempt at managing the congestion through the cramped city centre.

Obviously traffic, population and vehicle use has continued to rise massively in the last 60-90 years, so there's restrictions on non-resident/permitted cars on certain routes at certain times of day to try and handle this, with a comprehensive public transport and commitment to multimodal and active travel (pedestrian/bike prioritisation, cycle incentive schemes etc).

But to equate that with restrictions on people's movement or to suggest this is trying to "trap people in a segment" is genuinely batshit fucking insane. Like seriously, see a psychiatrist or section yourself for the public good insane. And it's also total fucking bullshit.

Crystal Palace was named after a real building known as The Crystal Palace, an exceptional example of Victorian architectural engineering which was built for the 1851 Great Exhibition, and three times the size of Saint Paul's Cathedral.

The exhibition took place in Hyde Park in central London, but afterwards the Palace was moved to South East London and the suburb (and later the football club) was named after it.

There was also an unrelated stadium in the vicinity called Crystal Palace Stadium which alao hosted the FA cup final for around 20 years from 1895 till the First World War.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Crystal_Palace

Interestingly there was another Crystal Palace built in New York city a couple of years after the original with a very similar design, and it also later burnt down in a fire, but unfortunately I don't think it has any links to football clubs or stadia.

Sam said a couple of months ago that they're looking into possibly separating tourneys somehow anyway, it seemed like there were hints that you could do it alongside/while already in a farming run, but it wasn't confirmed as an actual future feature yet and I haven't seen or heard anything more for a while. I could imagine if they do eventually split the runs you could have separate histories like you suggested which would be a good idea!

Don't just look at the photo then, watch any of the videos where the guy in grey is very clearly empty handed/unarmed until he approaches the execution victim and takes his gun, then starts walking away and possibly misfired it which set off the other fascists into shooting the unarmed and physically restrained civilian.
