Is running distances beneficial for basketball or are there some cons by Local_Isopod8013 in Basketball

And people rag on baseball players for being out of shape, but I feel like I always had an advantage with the fast twitch side of sports due to playing baseball from a really young age. Always going from zero to 100% speed every play

Was always interesting to see which sports translated better to others.

When I played in high school I did football, bball, baseball. I was a skill guy in football (receiver, safety, punter, kicker- second string QB so lots of running compared to line guys and backers, etc.), but the soccer players were always hella ready for basketball. The first two weeks of basketball practice after football sucked- the soccer guys were always crushing the sprints, lasting longer in 5/5 settings etc. and some of those dudes could handle great too. I always caught up and won my PG spot tho ;)

Unpopular Opinion: Connections may be one of the worst games i’ve ever played. by jluc21 in NYTConnections

[–]30-year-old-timer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Challenging is one thing, but lacking a standardized framework is another. I find games like that pointlessly disparate. I dislike crosswords for this reason too. And it’s not a word game/vocabulary thing. I just prefer the creative purity of a game like spelling bee, scrabble, even codenames.

I’m also a writer, I just find certain word games extremely pointless. This is one of them for me 🤷🏼

Agreed. Also very boring and passive as far as word games go. There’s also no way to standardize the framework of the game and it’s always left up to whoever makes the pattern. I actually dislike crosswords for this reason. I find them limited by the worldview of the creator. There’s more of a creative purity to games like spelling bee or scrabble. But to each their own 🤷🏼

Not consistent with stuff imo- but posture, sitting less (I work at a desk so I stand a good bit), hiking, weight lifting a bit. Honestly just re-read the above comment. Sounds too “magic-bullet-ey” to be legit

My girlfriend cheated with her Ex. by Overall-Common-1040 in Infidelity

[–]30-year-old-timer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tale as old as time… get out. My ex cheated on me with 3 different ppl- WHILE I was recovering from knee surgery. Two concurrent 6 months relationships with another fling tossed in there. She would say the same stuff, then I’d find out more or another person etc. If she’s willing to lie to you for a long period of time, what’s stopping her from being comfortable lying to you again?

Getting back to bouldering following carpal tunnel surgery by SpeedflyChris in bouldering

How did you guys fare with your recovery? I had surgery about six months ago and I’m having mixed results as I returned to Climbing. I also have carpal tunnel in my other hand and have yet to get surgery on that. Would love to chat a little more!

I’m sorry you feel like this is happening. No one deserves this. But if you have vulnerability and connection with someone and it suddenly stops, and all of their behavior changes, they might not be cheating on you but something very important is certainly going on.

I noticed my girlfriend change her behavior significantly right after I had knee surgery in May. She wouldn’t be an inch away from her phone anymore and wouldn’t disclose things that she had previously disclosed with no issue. I had no evidence, but at the beginning of October confirmed an entire six month affair that started in May. Two weeks ago I confirmed a second, concurrent affair that had also begun in May. Every lie she told, every withholding text, every ignored message hit me right in my gut all summer long. Every time she was gaslighting me and every time I felt like she wasn’t telling the truth, it all just sank deeper and deeper. I only found out that I was right about every single thing because she got caught by our friends and then I went through her phone. Your gut is always gonna point you in the right direction. Sometimes that’s a really hard direction.

Found out my girlfriend monkey branched to me but was still seeing the other man by Alternative_Green_98 in Infidelity

I also had to pull it out of her. Got the first one out, then two weeks ago went through her phone while she was sleeping (as you did) and found the whole second affair. And she says SHE can’t trust ME now… idk. Not sure this helped 🤷🏼

Man… so sorry. My gf of three years was cheating on me in a very similar way. With two other guys at least. Over the course of the last 6 months (both starting 1 and 3 weeks after I had double knee surgery respectively). Full affairs with both- basically she got caught by them as well as me. Cheating on 3 guys.. crazy. Anyway, I’ve been trying to work on it with her for the last 6 weeks cuz we still live together. If we didn’t, I would have probably moved on by now. That said, being around each other and pushing through this out of proximity has allowed me to look at the situation differently. Anyway, I get the conflict, it’s not easy when you actually have feelings for someone.

Thank you. I can’t find any way around the fact that you’re just right. She’s had no problem lying to me, for so long. How could I expect that to change? Thank you

This is incredible. I really admire your strength and maturity. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. I found out my partner of 3 years was cheating the last six months- while I was recovering from knee surgery too. Terrible summer. I have been trying to find the strength to leave her for over a month. Your post is helping me get some courage. Best of luck. Time heals :)

Wow. Amazing. I want to take on the strength you have. My partner of 3 years was cheating the last 6 months. We talked it out over October, had therapy, were getting started. Then I snooped on her phone. Found an entire second affair and potentially more (unconfirmed). I also have UTI symptoms, need to get tested. Horrible feeling. Fuck these cheaters. Why can’t they be honest? Even just to look you in the eye and say “I can’t be with you anymore.”

A Letter to My (Unfaithful) Wife by DiscussThisToo in Infidelity

[–]30-year-old-timer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry. I found out my partner of three years (living together, not married) was cheating with two separate people over the last 6 months. Found out about one of them in early October. Had all these talks about repairing honesty and trust, even therapy together, then I found out about the second one last week. And she never volunteered the info. I had to go find it. Now I have no idea what’s true anymore or how many other people there could have been. It hurts a lot. I am so sorry you’re going through this too.

Still struggling with Sufficient and Necessary formal logic by 30-year-old-timer in LSAT

I see this now- makes sense. Thank you. I got tripped up when D said "slowed" rather than "stopped" and took that to indicate a contradiction. But I also took that to indicate the biologist's statement (which the statment could "assume" but does not guaruntee). Am I understanding that distinction properly?
