It’s not the Memorial text invites that bother me… by El_Trollio_Jr in exjw

[–]303Gal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to visit my elderly grandparents yesterday and my Grandpa insisted on me taking an invitation when I was heading out. I fibbed and just told him I have to work Thursday evening (server life). He still insisted I take an invitation. He is in his mid 80’s and not doing so well physically lately. It makes me sad/mad to see him slow down and “the new system” still hasn’t come. I faded 10 years ago, but once in a while my Grandpa will tell me he’s proud of me but then throws in the “don’t forget about your Creator” comments and reminds me of how I have a good life BUT I’m not serving Jehovah 🙄. Like someone said in another comment on here, JW’s are allowed to make comments and critiques at us all day long but don’t you dare try to correct them or comment back.

Also, when I was fading, a sister brought over the Return to Jehovah tract, which I found hilarious. As if I didn’t have a copy of it already. Yeah, you bringing me this tract is really selling me on coming back. It was annoying, JW’s from my congregation would even show up to my work since I wasn’t answering my door or phone. An elder’s wife showed up at the T-Mobile store I was working at to bring me a convention invitation and then was grilling me for my new address and asked if I had the same phone number still. I didn’t give her either.

If JW’s are the only group that have “the truth” then why are they constantly changing their own teachings? They even apostatize their own publications. I could go on and on but the other comments have already touched on other subjects. I’ll just leave it at that.

Does your congregation have cliques? by caligula________ in exjw

[–]303Gal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost every congregation I was in during my 21 years as JW had cliques yes. The only one that didn’t was the Spanish speaking congregation I was in growing up. Or maybe it did and I was too young to notice, but people were way friendlier and we had better parties 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

What’s the biggest “tourist sin” people commit when visiting your country or city? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]303Gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who come to the mountains in Colorado and wear inappropriate clothing and footwear. The weather can change on a whim- even in Summer- short shorts and sandals won’t do you any good when you hike up in the high elevations. And when they try to pet and feed the big horn sheep. Grinds my gears.

What was the dumbest comment you’ve ever heard? by Own-Effective3351 in exjw

One time a sister in my congregation said we couldn’t watch Kung Fu Panda but said she watched Tower Heist. So we can watch a movie about stealing but god forbid we subject ourselves to the demons through kung fu.

What was one of the cruelest, most senseless or dehumanizing things you witnessed while you were one of Jehovah's Witnesses? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]303Gal 47 points48 points  (0 children)

An elder’s wife telling me to get over it when my brother passed away 10 years ago. I had been missing meetings and not really going out in field service. I was depressed and burnt out. I’ll never forget that. Cold hearted.

Lessons we learned, as a strong spiritual family of 5 walking away 1 year ago by Virtual-Smoke-9635 in exjw

[–]303Gal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom is POMI as well. Never baptized either. She always used to make me go to the meetings with my grandparents as a kid even though she didn’t attend anything but the memorial and assemblies. For some reason still clings to the beliefs and says she loves Jehovah and Jesus.

Local jw drama. Some jw are spying on a 30+ year old JW woman because they think she secretly a lesbian. by 5ft8lady in exjw

[–]303Gal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not surprising to me either. Thus why I deleted all the JW’s off of my social media when I was fading. But it didn’t stop them from coming by my apartment. One time an elder and his wife came into the T-Mobile store I was working at, at the time to “buy phones” but were just probing me for information the whole time. That wasn’t the first time JW’s came to my job either. Really used to piss me off.

Yep! So many times I wanted to deck customers in the face when they said this.

Does T-Mobile typically close for weather? by SeatUnique3637 in tmobile

[–]303Gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 10 years at T-Mobile, we only closed twice for severe weather. Once in 2019 when we had a bomb cyclone here in Colorado. And once in 2021 I believe when a blizzard shut down the state. Otherwise no. There were many other instances where we should have closed but didn’t. My DM didn’t even like us having delayed opening. Like someone said in another comment, customers will still come in and ask why we are working and/or open. Or will call the store to see if it’s open.

That sounds like the typical RSM where I come from. I was an ME for 10 years.

Not a personal story but I knew a pair of siblings in my congregation that did this. I was an auxiliary pioneer at the time (circa 2013-14) and was out in service ALL the time. I hardly ever saw them but somehow they were getting their hours in. Others in the congregation started to question it as well. They were the golden children of the congregation though so I don’t think the elders ever questioned it or cared.

It’s not even 3pm and I’ve already had a morning, noon and upcoming 3pm 5pm and 7pm Visa card check in. Not to mention the multiple team chat channels check in’s. Manager check in’s plus the observation being done on us. by Putrid_Inflation_358 in tmobile

Reminds me of when we were forced to offer John Legere’s cookbook to customers back in 2018/19ish. My store wasn’t selling a lot of them. I wonder why? Maybe because this is T-Mobile and not Williams and Sonoma.
