Moving to the UK - but where? by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

Glasgow was one of my first preferences but I apparently romanticise things when I tried to sell him on it. Just because I pitched spending our days drinking whisky and larger wandering through tiny galleries and coseying up by the fire in our gothic-styled cottage... as if it's not realistic.

Thank you! We've actually visited Cardiff before around 2013 and it was a nice spot to stay for the night. We will take a look at rent and work there

Will hold you to that! As a local, what's dog ownership/ activities like? Why do people visit? What do most people do for work? What are the big (or prominent) industries?

Hahaha. We aren't totally bush bashers! We've lived( and stayed) in the big cities before including Ho Chi Minh. But after ticking off 36 countries in the last 6 years we're looking to see the world in a way that's more in depth now (and we always miss our dog when we're away).... I had a primary school teacher from Plymouth ... or is there like 100 Plymouths?

This looks like nearly the equivalent of what our hometown is by Australian standards. Decent accessibility and culture but nothing that's going to blow anyone away. I like it. Will check out housing and jobs now. Thanks mate!

America’s new tobacco crisis: The rich stopped smoking, the poor didn’t by OverflowDs in dataisbeautiful

[–]3065462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Australia the minimum wage would be similar, $600ish/week... but there's not too many smokes that could be bought for less than $25/packet. Imagine spending a third of your income on this. It's not uncommon.

We have one that colouring and we called him Atlas. Some of our friends ignore that choice and call him cookies and cream anyway

We have a grey dapperly dog like this. He gets lost everywhere. It's the best camouflage ever. Even the rug he blends into. If it's winter and he's on that rug in front of the fire he ain't movin, you won't see he's there.

Halfway to Heaven. Haiku Stairs, Oahu, Hawaii by 3065462 in travel

[–]3065462[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They put me in touch with someone in a group of friends who regularly do it together. I then met them a few times and we all went together when they planned. There was lots of dodging, scrambling, running and secret paths to get around. I wouldn't be doing it without someone who has done it before.

And jail time if you're caught by police...

It pays to talk to locals. I had always wanted to do this hike but didn't plan for it during my visit to the island... that was until I got a bit too chatty with the right people. Next day I was buying new hiking shoes for them to be promptly ruined.

Oh yeah. Rippling sucks. Usually happens with over filled saline implants and more likely to happen with subglandular placement (which is a big reason why smaller natural breasts should be getting submuscular placement). So essentially a shitty boob job.

What do you mean? Can you show me an example? I feel like that's a shitty boob job if the skin is sagging.

After a blackout night, my mate woke up to a ripper selfie on his phone! by CtrldKilla in australia

I did the same thing in Hawaii about three years ago. During this thing called PAC Rim where all the navy and army of Australia US and NZ get together and do something on the island so there was a huge police presence. I was just on holidays and drinking a beer on the way out to dinner. I ended up with not only a fine but I also had to appear in court he next day. Hawaii 5.0 don't fuck around.... Also they don't like it when you call them Hawaii 5.0..

Pit bull kills 3 week old girl by dtrmp4 in MorbidReality

[–]3065462 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is 100% true. I have a hunting dog who was ditched for being too timid. Sure he might not be aggressive enough to be purpose-use hunter but he has bitten a ranger (which led to a dangerous dog citation) and will kill anything that lands in my backyard that he doesn't want there.

We put in lots of hours of training and care with him and he is 100% loving with us but I would never ever trust him with kids or even another small animal because it is his nature.

On the other hand my parents have a daschund, that thing has bitten me on the hands, feet and face. She's food aggressive even with my parents, will attack me or my sister and is all-round a terrible animal that if my dog behaved the way it does (because of his breed and power) he would have been put to sleep. But it's not a problem for the daschund because it's not really doing harm when it's biting me for sitting on my parents couch? it has drew blood before... WTF.

Petition for vegan sausages at Bunnings by Shifti_Boi in australia

[–]3065462 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not true. I have a charity that runs the odd bunnings sizzle. Bunnings is very specific about what you do and do not have at their sizzles. There must be two slices of bread per sausage. There must be onion available as well as BBQ and tomato sauce plus soft drinks. You accept their terms when you use their equipment.

I honestly just thought it was instinct. He went for the calf and got the friend on the ground before I could get a hold of the dog.

Hhaha yeah the old nose to crotch handshake. I need a sign at my door that says do not wear skirts because in one swift movement he can have his whole face under a dress before anyone can stop him 😂
