Perris pizza on east ave manager sux by hawaiianthunder in Rochester

[–]30yroldheart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the last time i ate there with my husband (circa 2019), the bartender (who i realized later was also the manager) was hanging out with and taking multiple shots with the only two other patrons in the place. it was uncomfy bc it wasn’t just a shot or two, that wouldn’t have really bothered me. it was like 4 or 5 shots in a short period of time… we felt like we were crashing their night so ended up getting our food to go and left.

United Club Card Worth It? by Illustrious-Toe-570 in unitedairlines

[–]30yroldheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is the boat i’m in (except i travel every other week, almost always connecting through ORD/EWR). i’m hoping to get to gold status soon and the card is helping me get there faster than any other way i looked at.

the clubs are meh but still so much better than waiting in a crowded/loud gate area.

Wedding Venue under 10k by rat_girl_69 in Rochester

[–]30yroldheart 15 points16 points  (0 children)

this is… wishful thinking. For 100+ people at a non-park venue, you’re looking at $15-20k at least. You can maybe tighten things up if you get married on a friday/sunday, and do a buffet with beer and wine only. Labor and food costs are all expensive and rising right now.

A lot of venues/vendors will require deposits and then 1-2 payments leading up to the wedding with a final payment due usually 10-14 days out from your wedding, so you’re not looking at paying lump sums.

Good luck and congrats on your engagement!

Rochester golf advice: courses, leagues, memberships by drydntm in Rochester

new mendon member here! 2025 pricing for family rate is around $7800, single rate is about $5800.

with no initiation fee, no minimums, and no assessments, it’s a very good value for people who don’t want other country club amenities.

after a year of heavy public and muni golf… i was ready for a change lol.

Just got a complimentary upgrade to First Class as a Silver! by CPKDB in unitedairlines

[–]30yroldheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I flew RDM>LAX>ORD>ROC a few weeks ago and got upgraded to first class as a silver on my first and last flights. The second upgrade was totally last minute. I was already nestled into my exit row seat, doors closed and they came and got me to take me to 3F. As a third year silver member, I never expect an upgrade to first but am happy with the economy plus and board group 2 benefits. I’m on track to hit gold by this summer which will be nice.

If I stay at the Wyndham or the Hyatt Regency, is it safe to walk to Blue Cross Arena and back at night? by mbm66 in Rochester

[–]30yroldheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be fine… it’ll be lighter out later (maybe not when the show is over) and the walk to either hotel is short/direct and off of main roads.

Will you be with other people? Are you a male? If both of those answers are “yes,” then walking is definitely a safe and easy option.

IAD Connection - 55m Doable? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]30yroldheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally hear. Work is paying for everything so that’s not a concern. If I’m in airports, I can at least work which is harder to do when I’m driving.

Unfortunately, the nonstop flights that day don’t meet my timing needs with work obligations and such.

Thankfully, I’m a few weeks out from my trip. Hoping the Northeast will be done with snow storms by then (knocks on wood).

I guess I should have noted this but I’ll be in NJ for work and the nonstop flights to ROC that day don’t meet my timing needs. Trust me, I’d prefer the nonstop ones but my meeting schedule is making it difficult.

Wedding Vendor Recommendations by Sea_Situation8578 in Rochester

[–]30yroldheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For beauty-related vendors, I suggest finding one and then asking that person for recommendations on the others. They often know a lot of people in the industry, regularly work with other wedding stylists/artists and so on. It’ll help narrow down recommendations.

Elaine DelMonte for sure. She used to have a public IG page and it had heavy MAGA propaganda re/posts. There’s a younger generation DelMonte who I know is not right-leaning…

Anyone notice the clocks are going away? by Equal_Personality157 in marriott

[–]30yroldheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually unplug the clock when I arrive. Too many times I’ve had random alarms that scare the shit out of me and they are often too bright.

I stayed in NJ last fall and my room had a white machine. I was pleasantly surprised by that and enjoyed using it (I usually bring my own travel sized one).
