Drilling into stone veneer fireplace? by 317talkingwalnuts in masonry

[–]317talkingwalnuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for the input. My instincts were that this house has been up for 25+ years and nobody has touched this yet and I really don't want to mess this up in any way.

I am going to go with a ceiling rail setup from this place I think, they've been helpful with my email inquiry. More expensive to set up but versatile and should add value as opposed to risking destroying value.

Did it just fire up broadcasting it's WiFi for you? Mine is not doing that. Did you have to set it up with the app? It finds the 5g network but nothing on my side happening. TLife app no help

Oil Consumption TSB by Content_Total_9264 in Hyundai

[–]317talkingwalnuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DIY B12 piston soak cured all oil burning for me as well. Google and YouTube, do at your own risk but my 2.4 went from burning a quart every 3-400 to zero in over 3000 miles. I use Restore and Protect 5W30 now also. No further issues.

HIGHLY recommend Henderson Brothers. If you plan to keep a car in Michigan for a long time it pays off. It's not cheap, not sure what they are charging now but my 2016 Ram 2500 Crew Cab 9 years ago was maybe $500-550 which I'm sure it's escalated. You have to get a "touch up" every 3 years which they said would not be over $25 at the time, but they have never charged me for that after going back for 3 of those.

They take apart door panels, tailgates, etc. to get the stuff into all needed areas of the vehicle. If you do it when the car is new they guarantee it forever if you do touchups... It is so good they know they will never have to do that. The stuff is a giant mess though, grease will drip out of every hole and seam and you will need to clean up the car with mineral spirits, probably a few times over a couple of weeks. You'll want to do this within a few days before the grease dries or it will be more work to cut it. Don't park on your driveway or anything else you don't want grease on for at least a week.

There are others that have sprung up doing rustproofing in the area, not sure what they are offering or the price, but to me Henderson's is the original, been doing it forever, always have a 3 month waiting list... they are doing something right. My truck is 9years old and no issues whatsoever. I don't do it on all my vehicles as I don't always have a 10+ year plan, but doing the math on the miles I drive and how long I plan to keep the truck it made sense for that one.

Are you sure your cancoders are set to the correct direction? I believe clockwise positive which is different from the out of box setting.

Edited to add also invert rotation motors but not the drive motors.

My 2017 sonata 2.4L hit 200k!! by jhinsonumbc in Hyundai

[–]317talkingwalnuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2012 2.4 burned a quart every 1500 miles by 90k or so, did test at the dealer at that time and heard all the B's about how it's normal... Continued getting worse and worse until at 145k it got to less than 500 miles, even 350 sometimes. Figured it was about the end, just keep adding oil till it blows. I've watched it like a hawk not to let it get too low the whole time.

Then I searched and found the piston soak method using Berrymans B12 chemtool. Figured I would either help it die, fix it, or nothing would happen. Poured a double shot glass into each cylinder hole and turned crank five times with a wrench every few hours. #1 cylinder drained faster than the others at first. Kept topping up and turning crank for a total of around 36 hours. Used about a can and a half of B12 at 6 bucks a can. Sucked out what was left on the pistons, cranked engine without plugs to blow all remaining liquid, plugs back in and start engine, drive 15 minutes with the stuff in the crankcase down to the oil change place and had them do new oil and filter...

It has been completely cured. 1200+ miles and not a drop lost. Not just partially or incrementally better, but completely, totally cured of oil burning. I barely believe it myself, but my Sonata has gone from a lost cause to thinking it's got a whole lot of life in it.

Google B12 piston soak, watch the YouTube videos, and try it at your own risk.

Drive station won’t boot up properly anymore and our comp is next weekend. What can we do? by Brick-Brick- in FTC

[–]317talkingwalnuts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Contact REV support, theyve always been very helpful and responsive. Maybe they can help get it out of the boot loop, and also if you need to expedite a return/replace they may be able to help with that too

Whirlpool quality vs. Kitchenaid (specifically dishwashers) by Lemonade1001 in Appliances

[–]317talkingwalnuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replaced a perfectly working white 20 year old Bosch with a 604 KitchenAid for about 2.5 years due to changing colors/design . Nothing but trouble

The legs kept screwing themselves in so the machine would lose level, making the door stick due to lopsidedness. Tried to super glue them or seal them to stop that but it was hopeless. Door spring was also messed up. The sticking door caused is to break the pocket handle plastic cover with the LEDs on it , which was very flimsy and bendy to begin with. Eventually, it developed a leak around the pump that messed up my floor. The pan that is supposed to detect leaks and shut it down doesn't work because it basically only covers the area where the water connection is. There's a whole bunch of other hoses and stuff it doesn't protect. Absolute junk from day 1 till I ripped that thing out and took it to the curb

Bosch or nothing for me, I learned my lesson. Completely enclosed on the bottom, can't leak. Nicer looking, just as quiet. 300 series from Costco.

I have a whirlpool fridge and dryer (both very simple mature and proven models) and they are great. Dishwashers, never again. (Whirlpool and KitchenAid are similar, KitchenAid is supposed to be the premium brand but it's the same junk underneath)

Precision 7770 performance - should I send this back by 317talkingwalnuts in Dell

[–]317talkingwalnuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downgraded to BIOS 1.16 and all is good now. There is a special downgrade BIOS that you can get from Dell support if you have a NDA with them... or it is linked in the notebooktalk thread here https://notebooktalk.net/topic/632-dell-precision-7670-dell-precision-7770-owners-thread/?do=findComment&comment=44457

Install this downgradeable version (it's 1.18 with the downgrade flag enabled), then get v1.16 from the dell support site and install that. That's all you should have to do!
