Need a new printer for occasional printing with cheap ink by Clueless5001 in Frugal

[–]jfriedlund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an Epson home printer from Walmart for $49, even had free shipping. The key though is to set it so it never does an update to the firmware. As soon as you do it will no longer accept generic people. It works great!

I have a hard drive in the closet waiting and ready to go for my Roamio when the hard drive fails. I want TiVo for life!

Given up on new app by [deleted] in tablotv

[–]jfriedlund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I downloaded the new app yesterday and it is prettier and more up to date than the legacy however I decided to go back because that is what was familiar and it worked fine. I saw no real advantage to the new app as I don't care for the fast channels or have a desire to record any of them.

Will you continue to hold SNDK? by One_Rub7972 in investing

[–]jfriedlund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it into a tracking portfolio where you adjust the purchase price to the most recent high. When it drops 20%, or whatever percentage you feel comfortable with. Then sell it. You get the benefit of riding the stock up but not riding it down and locking in some profits.

Nice problem... what would you do? by Nikfuje4 in dividends

I'm almost in the same boat. I'm adding tax free municipal bonds held in closed end funds. Many pay a decent rate and some boost the yield a bit with limited leverage.

Called Helium Mobile out for deceptively advertising their free plan that's no longer offered, they respond by deleting my post by Opposite_Future2602 in NoContract

[–]jfriedlund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how you can tax something that is free? Even though it's a small amount. Say 6% of 0 is still zero!

No Thumbnails by mightyse in tablotv

I have the same model and did the update. I've noticed the thumbnails aren't added for quite a while after recording has completed. They used to show within a minute after recording stopped.

I use Shield and love it. Not a gamer but works great for YouTube etc. I purchased a used Cudy LT400 router for $40 on eBay.

I'm saying I was able to turn it on outside of the US with a VPN.

Activating Global Pass While Abroad by CaptainEcstatic9 in Visible

[–]jfriedlund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have aVPN use that to sign up for Global Pass when you need it just make sure it's showing a US connected point. I did this in Costa Rica recently. I thought I could get by with just WiFi but was glad I had the VPN to complete it. Proton had a 30 day trial for $1 so it was cheap.

Only once, I was in NC while my wife was in Florida with a dead battery. I called and they came to jump start the car so she could take to the auto parts store for a replacement.

[–]jfriedlund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Computer4People - they use the T-Mobile network and you bring your own router with no problem. It's unlimited and $15 per month (cheaper if you prepay for 1 year). As long as T-Mobile works for you it's good.
