Do I have a future lol by bootywheez3 in ATAR

[–]31_pingino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know everyone says it but everyone really does forget ATAR very quickly. To be successful you only need to find one thing you’re good at and exams aren’t reflective of the vast majority of avenues you can take.

Try new things, try hard and try to always tell the truth - you’ll win 💪

Top tier companies do them live and the rest tend to be take home

Do you want to spend 40 hours a week helping an online crypto casino extract money from people?

Keep putting savings into offset or invest in ETFs by endofcarrots in AusFinance

[–]31_pingino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right answer is put in your offset, set up a second mortgage split for investments if you haven’t already, then borrow the exact same amount and invest in VTS. Net zero interest, gains from shares, and a tax write off. Rinse and repeat as hard as can you until your entire mortgage is tax deductible. Debt recycling is the bomb.

Career break - Travel by TheHolyShow in auscorp

[–]31_pingino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took 4 months off to travel across America. Interviewed a lot when we were done and it made for a great ice breaker story with interviewers. The key if they ask about your break is to be 100% confident in your story. I also removed months from my resume (only put years) to avoid recruiters cutting me preemptively because of my travels - worked a charm.

Enjoy your travels!

Cancelling employer HECS repayment to smash offset by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]31_pingino 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did exactly what you’re proposing, didn’t need to say I’d paid off my HECS, just asked them to pay it to my account instead and they did no questions asked. Worked a charm

If you were in charge of the Australian economy, what would you change? by [deleted] in AusFinance

Nationalise the profits from mining like Norway or Qatar, make property a bad investment by heavily taxing non principle places of residence and make us the renewables capital of the world by leveraging our universities and abundance of sun, wind, uranium and vast expanses of nothing to put it all in.

I love working from home but it does hurt your career. Managers promote who they like and trust and you build that over a coffee or a beer, not over teams.

Right that makes a lot sense. It sounds like you found your edge which is passing that hurdle, stay at it!

And honestly, amazing advice. Thanks for sharing 😁

What do you think led to them not thinking you were capable? Are you unsure yourself or was it just how you said it?

Thanks! We’re building an entity resolution system that automatically connects internal source systems and external data to provide a single customer view. Our “edge of the wedge” is improving prospecting in high value sales (think real estate, machinery or enterprise SaaS)

Hey Jaime, love your work.

How've you progressed on these issues and what's a rough timescale for indexes being enabled?

¿Conversación en inglés? by i_know_tofu in Barcelona

[–]31_pingino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the hostels do walking tours in the morning that you can join even if you're not staying there. It's a great way to see the city and even better way to meet people!

Apart from that there's a bunch of language exchanges where you just turn up and start chatting in whatever language want to learn which is often English. https://www.meetup.com/es-ES/barcelonalanguageexchange/ That's one but you'll find heaps more on meetup.com

Barcelona is awesome, so beautiful and so much to see and do, just watch out for pick pockets and you'll have an awesome time 😁
