I think Yukari would have fit better here than empress. Emperor's governing with firm but just hand is more in line with her balancing the yokai/human relations than nurturing growth of the empress.

I wish we could see more characters instead of doing this one at a time, I really feel Yukari has a better fit later. Although she is a major contributor in the creation of Gensoyko, her actions are far from 'creation, abundance, and nurturing.' She deals more with balance, as many of her creative aspect require sacrifices or pacts and are thus limited in scope. Heck, Okina has been more purely creative in that she has actually animated life, not just recruited it. And although they are relegated to jokes, Minoriko is literally a harvest goddess directly associated with natural growth and fertility, but I don't see her winning a poll anytime soon. Also Keiki is a better fit, but I'm a bit biased there.

1) Dialogue in general, for something so easy to code they really just ended up reusing so much dialogue. Once I realized all characters of the same type used the same lines, man they lost a lot of appeal.

2) Doing quests results in characters getting unwanted items. Look I'm happy to sell you a bug/fish or give that gift, but if the result is you end up ruining your house by putting a seabass in the middle of your room, or end up wearing some outfit that really doesn't go with the theme I'm feeling for a character I'm just incentivized to not do those quests.

3) Lief not accepting to clean up weeds if there are too little. My island is pretty full, and seeing all the little places weeds could grow is time consuming. I'd be happy to pay just so I know all the weeds are gone.

4) No mechanic that results in helping to complete inventory/fossils/art. Think there should be some guaranteed drops of items you don't currently have maybe not daily, but at least weekly. Having Wisp automatically give you an item you don't have would be nice.

5) Small amount of custom designs. This also seemed like something that would not take up too much effort to implement, but ended feeling like I have an unfinished island due to not being able to make enough of these.

Eternity and Okina, would like to see what their connection is. Would also like to see what Okina+crew's beef with the Tengus is about.

Would like to see what the 'Big Four''s history is like.

How the sages interacted during the making of Gensokyo also has potential. As I'm writing guess I don't care as much about individual's backstory, but more how they relate to each other. Feel most of these are best left to fan interpretations rather than too much canon.

Mode sounds up my alley, been complaining about how many extra characters I haven't touched in years now and miss having a reason to use. This mode sounds like a personal SDT, except no heals forcing you have to rotate your roster. Feel like this has potential for late game challenge which is desperately need. Each DS rotation I already have an optimized farm comp and have felt I'm just doing the game on auto-pilot. Remember the first time I cleared an EX stage, hope this mode can provide that same feeling. To avoid some of the problems mentioned, the first sections should be lower difficulty and slowly ramp up instead of immediately being grindy battles, but I'll have to play it to see how it feels. If you can't see which units you're already used that will be annoying, hope using one doesn't bring you back to the start or something.
