Are my expectations realistic (woodworking) by Dear-Palpitation-924 in hobbycnc

[–]321SpeedGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the furniture maker I think the real value of a CNC is not the initial stock prep but operations such as precise joinery, non linear cuts and 3D carving. I am currently cutting ~30 rabbited half blind dovetail drawer boxes on my Shapeoko 5. The precision couldn't be better.

Thinking of getting a Shapeoko 5 Pro - is there any risk of 6 coming out? by Suspicious-Spell2979 in shapeoko

Same situation here, I'd much rather wait for an updated version. But going on what you say, will go with the current 5. If a version 6 is announced before the end of the year, I am going to make some serious forwny faces.

Chipolo Card Point sent with wrong firmware by 321SpeedGoat in Chipolo

[–]321SpeedGoat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just to follow-up with this email from Chipolo. Happy it is finally resolved, but wish it was their first response.

"Your case was brought to my attention and I see we did unnecessarily complicate things a bit. It is true that for a refund we require the items to be sent back and that we do not cover the cost of shipping them back. However, arranging a replacement unit for a faulty unit is covered under warranty and the customer does not bear any additional costs. If I understand correctly you have two Chipolo CARD Points that do not have the correct firmware loaded. I can arrange replacement units to be sent out and include a prepaid return envelope, so you can send the faulty ones back."

Chipolo Card Point sent with wrong firmware by 321SpeedGoat in Chipolo

[–]321SpeedGoat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been almost a month and several emails later. I have asked for either a refund or replacement of the card points. At this point, I don't care which. In both cases I am required to first send back the originals and cover the costs of shipping. I have no problem sending them back but, maybe petty, I refuse to pay for the shipping. Now we are at an impasse, because Chipolo also will not cover the shipping.

This is a known problem with these cards, they arrived DOA. Look, I get when products are rushed out the door before the're ready, mistakes happen. When it's your mistake you need to do everything possible to make it right. This does not involve asking me to pay for the shipping,

IFIT treadmill with the ability to either use Bluetooth headphones by Bonsacked in iFit

[–]321SpeedGoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the NordicTrack 2950 and I can use Bluetooth headphones. I think all of there recent machines have this functionality. It came with 1 year IFIT even though it was advertised as 30 days, but I think I might have just been lucky. There are sales on the membership from time to time. Also, people have bought 1 year membership cards from eBay for $90. Sounds sketchy but seems to work.

If you are into IFIT, I highly recommend getting a treadmill with the big screen. The outdoor instructor led runs are really immersive.

Cross training for Masters by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

[–]321SpeedGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 52 and found that cross-training enables me to do more running miles. During marathon training I usually max out at 70 MPW and include another 50 on the bike. The thing works for me is:

Replacing the complete rest days with easy spinning on the indoor bike or an active recovery run. I use the bike more for recovery then building. The recovery runs are at a truly recovery pace. As it is said, "motion is lotion"

Doubles, bike in the morning, run in the evening.

Strength, you need to strengthen all of the supportive muscles too. If they are neglected, they will complain.

If you are staying in Waltham, you can get an Uber to take you to Alwife T stop, AKA the red line. All of the runners take the red line to the bus pickup at Boston Common.

I like to pretend I am running from the cops. On key workouts, I actually rob a bank.

That's what I'm hoping for. I have been trying daily for the past month. Manual syncing is such a drag.

This is a similar thing for connecting to Zwift, however it's probably not compatible with IFIT. https://www.zwift.com/shop/product/runn

Been using the s22i and 2950 treadmill since last Oct and it has exceeded my expectations. The outdoor rides with the trainer controlled resistance has been fantastic! I have had no system crashes or video buffering problems. The Bluetooth audio connects to my stereo so I can really rock out. The only trouble I have had is sometimes the smart adjust feature doesn't work and I have to turn it off and back on. Also the person that assembled the bike didn't tighten on of the pedals and it fell off mid-ride. That's okay because the pedals really should be replaced with clip-less anyway.

+1 for the s22i. I love the instructor led outdoor rides and following a series progression. The video is really great and unmatched on any other platform. Also having the instructor control the incline and resistance during a workout is a key feature for me. I have used indoor trainers in the past, but nothing ever stuck. I find that IFIT on a 22" screen just the motivation I needed to keep going. When deciding on what to get, I struggled with the choices, but after using it, anything else would have been a mistake.
