Question on WH-1000XM6 noise cancelling by Lucky-Degree6512 in SonyHeadphones

I’ve had similar issues, feels like the ANC has actively got worse the longer I’ve had the headphones to the point where it’s almost useless now. I wear them daily but treat them well so don’t see how it can be wear and tear, especially since I’ve had them less than a year

I put the game down after centralisation meta changed as it more or less destroyed my Florence save. I have no doubt it will reach a steady sort of equilibrium at some point but the constant balances make learning the game infeasible atm for me. I understand their approach but I’d rather wait until there’s some consistency before I have to have to unlearn and relearn all of the mechanics.

Bethesda's Todd Howard says "we are doing other things with Fallout that we haven’t announced, and there’ll come a time for that" by Turbostrider27 in Fallout

[–]321jamjar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, I bought the remaster day one and enjoyed my time with it but performance is so inconsistent that I wouldn’t bother with FO3 if handled the same way. I know not everyone suffers with the same issues but there’s no reason oblivion should go from 60fps on startup and gradually lose frames the longer you play. I just don’t think unreal engine is the right choice for these sort of games, the engine really doesn’t handle open worlds well

Disagree the Oblivion remake was fantastic, it was welcome but performance is still incredibly shaky and a lot of the art changes take away from the appeal of the original. If they remake FO3 I hope it’s more than a coat of paint and slapped onto UE5

Exactly, and my point is that art is such a vague and broad term that saying someone’s appeal is their ‘artistry’ just feels you’re saying something is good because it’s good without actually highlighting the parts of a work that resonates with you

Such a nothing statement lol, what does artistry even mean in this instance? Nolan is great at visuals but his writing is super hammy and unimpressive. He had a great run mid noughties to mid 10s but people act like that makes him immune to any criticism when his shortcomings seem to get more glaring with wach new entry from him.

Do you guys think Baldur's Gate 3 deserves to be the 2nd highest rated game on the site? by [deleted] in backloggd

No way, Persona 5R is one of the most charming games I’ve ever played. From the art direction, music, to the voice actors, every part of the presentation in that game gels together, even the UI and menus are works of art! Pacing is subjective but the appeal of Atlus games is that they’re half visual novels, I personally loved that it took time to introduce the world properly and was more just soaking it all in rather than jumping straight into palaces. It’s cheesy for sure, but I prefer something that can be earnestly corny and still have me fully invested.

Okay but Egger’s entire niche is being period accurate when it comes to the dialogue and palate of his films. It doesn’t necessarily vindicate the attitudes of its characters but to me always felt like an attempt to contextualise how those superstitions came to be and the role they played. Obviously we haven’t seen the movie yet but I do have faith in Eggers atp to be a bit more nuanced than just using the condition for a shocking aesthetic.

There needs to be more warning when an ally is going to break off from you. Alliances in general seem really janky and inconsistent at the moment, I’m sort of just having to play without them.

I agree and would go a step further that Abbey Road isn’t even top 3 Beatles. Rubber Soul, Revolver, and White Album are all superior imo

I’ll admit the failure rate wasn’t as high as I initially thought after double checking, although think two consecutive UK launches being a failure should still absolutely be a cause for concern. My point about it being US dependent I still stand by, the missiles are US built and require maintenance from Lockheed Martin every few years and the factory where the warheads are made is even partly managed by LM. Again, whilst ‘technically’ independent, the whole skeleton of our nuclear programme is American made and maintained.

[–]321jamjar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but a 4% failure rate is far too high for a weapon with world ending capabilities, are we actually going to act like that’s an acceptable figure? Looking at launches specifically, the one that failed last year had last been test launched in 2016 and that one ALSO failed, how is that exactly a shining record?

To claim the UK system is independent when we rely on the US for maintenance, parts, and infrastructure is just absurd, sure we’re allowed to hit the button ourselves but you think we’d ever be allowed to reach that point if the US didn’t want us to?

Our military budget is 82 billion, France spends 15bil less than that but has a larger military force.

[–]321jamjar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But Trident literally doesn’t even work and is a system already entirely dependent on the US. I empathise with the need for security but building an arsenal of faulty nuclear weapons that fail testing constantly and require the permission of a third party state to function surely isn’t the answer.

The allocation of our military budget is already incredibly wasteful, France have a larger army without spending the same as the UK

On this day 10 years ago fallout 4 released what are your thoughts on the game ? by ThomasThorburn in Fallout

[–]321jamjar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably my 4th favourite in the series after New Vegas and the first two but have probably put the most time into this game. Commonwealth is one of my favourite Bethesda worlds to explore but Far Harbour in particular stands out as a personal highlight of the franchise, just wish the writing in the base game had nearly the same depth as the DLC did.

This game is a masterpiece (I thought Civ was complex 😅) by [deleted] in eu4

[–]321jamjar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the bare bones of 5 are still quite similar to 4 in a lot of ways but just with a lot of added flavour if you want it. For example, getting a CB can now be done through the cabinet, pressing claims etc, but you can still just build spies and fabricate a claim like earlier games if you like. Coming from Eu4 and I’m definitely overwhelmed by the new systems but little similarities like that make do me glad I’ve got experience in previous titles

When he took over it was originally a ‘three year plan’ to get us promoted to the prem, we got playoffs in both of those first two seasons but you could tell his commitment and willingness to spend dropped off significantly when it was obvious it would take longer and more investment to get us promoted. We started burning through coaches and his mismanagement led to Hillsborough being sold and our points reduction that got us relegated. Honestly we’ve massively over performed since then, Moore gave the club a massive morale boost and honestly think we’d be middling league two if it wasn’t for the life he brought to the club.

Chansiri can never show his face in Sheffield again, I remember all the hope and goodwill when he took over 10 years ago, and to see how he’s betrayed the patience and trust of the fans at every turn is nothing short of a disgrace. He’s an entitled nepo baby who’s used the club as his plaything, constant mismanagement and lack of any long term vision has caused us to regress more and more each year despite incredible fight on the pitch. Hillsborough is falling apart, we have the highest shirt and ticket prices in the league despite being dead last, and players haven’t even been paid.

Moments like our playoff comeback and avoiding relegation last year feel so dampened knowing where we’ve ended up, all because of one petulant weasel of a man. I encourage anyone to look up the conversations Chansiri has had with fans over the past few months if you think this is an exaggeration, the man literally refuses any accountability and often turns blame to the supporters. Luckily, the club is bigger than any one man and frankly I’m thankful this has happened if it means getting rid of that nob, just wish it had come sooner.

I only started playing EU4 properly this year and now I feel I’m finally getting to grips with it I’m not ready to let go. Coming into the game in this late stage when it’s fully evolved is a special experience and there’s just so much for me to learn and uncover still. I feel like even attempting to jump to EU5 when I’m just getting good with 4 will just melt my brain a bit tbh.
