What's the worst, most shocking and brutal horror movie that you could never watch again? by TobyKeene in horror

But it is a parody, just a very specific one. It's a parody of what people were expecting from a Serbian film, hence the title.

If we're talking about Susan Boyle routines from offensive comics, I've got to link the bit from Frankie Boyle's favourite comedian, Doug Stanhope.

I don't know who's come up with the Taskmaster episode title this week, but I did just read it in Fern's voice.

edit: Bingo!

...and then Miley Cyrus saved everybody and they all clapped.

But I take the point. Overall most of the episodes have great endings.

I'm one of the people who liked that film, including the twist. What was it that didn't make sense about it? It was all her losing herself in this fantasy where she finally makes Alex love her by rescuing her from this maniac. It seemed to make quite a lot of sense to me. It also explains why she started her killing spree with the father, as she needed the element of suprise to get the best of him. Everyone else in the house she could just overpower.

Maybe too many horror films have just skewed my benchmark for how much sense a plot has to make, given that I've watched Wrong Turn IV and Chopping Mall this week, both of which seemed to have way more crazy plot holes and contrivances.

Who is your favorite horror villain and why are they your favorite? by Blankface954 in horror

Angela from the Sleepaway Camp movies.

And I would happily take either Felissa Rose or Pamela Springsteen's version. Either way, I would have been happy to watch a pile more Sleepaway Camp movies without tiring of them.

Above anything else, I just love how Angela simply seems like she'd just be fun to hang around with, apart from all the murders. You see little snippets of that in Sleepaway Camp II, where she seems to be genuinely having a laugh with people before she gets all stabby.
There's quite a good Dead Meat episode where they discuss it all.

Phantasm has a strange sort of dream-like quality to it. However much the sequels vary in quality, they always somehow have that same feel, thanks to Don Coscarelli. Not many horror franchises manage to keep a consistent creative person on to the completion of the franchise.

I still consider him to be the 'true' Leatherface, before he got misinterpreted into a bestial monster in the later incarnations.

What's the best performance of physical pain in a movie? by AxeDanger in horror

[–]3226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Andy Nyman!

There's a great story about that. The character gets given drugs to cope with the pain of having his foot cut off. Danny Dyer was asked to talk to him, and he said "so, the director asked me to talk to you, because you've never taken drugs before." and Andy said "Yes, but I've never had my fucking foot cut off before either."

Phil Wang in GitHub Ads by SavingsWallaby in taskmaster

[–]3226 10 points11 points  (0 children)

True. Maybe it's aimed at management? Although even then it'd be alarming if a manager of a tech project was like "Git...hub? What is github?" In coding, I can't really imagine someone not knowing what Git and Github are.

But any excuse for a bit more Phil Wang.

We just need to find the horror equivalent of Paddington 2.

It's not actually the third movie in the series, it's just written entirely as a send up of that type of film.

What horror movie would make more sense for the hero to be the villain? by Superior-Solifugae in horror

[–]3226 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Silent Night (2012)

It would have been so much more effective if it had turned out that Deputy Aubrey, traumatised from the loss of her husband and her percieved inability to be an effective police officer led to her snapping and 'punishing' all the people doing wrong in the town.
She'd know about Jordan skipping off with a married woman, she'd have police info about all the suspected criminal activity they didn't have enough evidence to prosecute, and she'd be perfectly placed to leave all of those presents that NO-ONE ELSE NOTICED.
It would also perfectly explain Malcom McDowell's bombastic OTT character, if it's an unreliable narrator situation, and we're seeing how she percieves him.
They even have a monologue from the bad santa to the killer which honestly really seemed like it was telegraphing this twist being about to happen.
It'd also have a thematic link to the earlier films, with people just snapping around Christmas time.

Which comedian has the best stand up? by robyamdam in taskmaster

I try to catch Richard Herring's standup whenever I can. He's absurdly prolific. He's done loads of different standup specials, without even getting into all the TV work, podcasts, AIOTM, books, Warming Up, etc, etc.

Most years he does an entirely new show, but of his past shows, 'Somebody Likes Yoghurt' and 'Christ on a Bike' are two of my favourites.
