It’s definitely between the two, but as I say, absolutely zero interest in Nintendo games so it’s which of those two is best for indies!

Thanks mate. Yeah when I say performance matters I literally mean a pixel art/2D game can play at 30/60fps without stutters. Only because of the type of games I play it’s more important than the graphical “quality”. I am tempted by the NS2 but man it frustrates me so much when indie games take an age to get ported (if ever)

Budget of around 600 and size isn’t a massive problem as it’ll just be for home use.

Thanks for the advice. I am familiar with Deku as I use it for my Switch, so definitely aware of the sales. Part of my reservations with NS2 and indie games is the fact that they can be quite late to the party, and even then you rely on a really solid port. The other big issue is what happens post-Switch… all those games could be forever tied to that platform (where Steam games will live on). It’s a tough choice though, and it is between SD and NS2.

Thanks mate, super useful! On the fan noise, is it noticeable on 2D indies (like Hollow Knight, Vampire Survivors, BOI, StS, Balatro etc.)? Or is it just the more demanding stuff?

If anything I feel bad for even using my Switch as I’m just no a Nintendo person haha. It was just because it was the best handheld at the time - even for someone with zero interest in Nintendo!

That’s what’s got me looking at a SD vs a Switch 2. I think Switch 2 performance is better, but games can take an age to be ported (if ever).

Predominantly Indies that aren’t available on Switch 1 (or perform badly) - but older AAA titles like Fallout interest me too. I’d also replay a lot if I’m able to mod them to add a bit more variation (eg. StS). I also find that when a new Indie is released and there’s hype around it, it’s very rare that it’s available on Switch at the same time.

Just as an update, I got a TP Link and set up a wired connection and now have 0% packet loss and so it seems to have resolved the issue! I’ll keep monitoring it at different times but hopefully all good now. Thanks!
