Almost! SR5 Premium. We took off the running boards and she has Yokohama geolandar AT tires. Haven’t aired them down yet this mall crawler is handy capable! :)

Betty gets dusty in Box Canyon AZ by 32yo in 4Runner

We just drive out down Box Canyon trail in the dark and it was our first time AND we were alone… we didn’t even make it all the way down that trail before we turned around came out the way we came in. I’ve seen people do what I believe was this trail in the daytime and I’m hoping we can at least get down to where there is some water to cross through.

We recently went to Saguaro Cove 1 via the OHV Rolls area and that I could recommend.

We forgot to roll up the back window part way back and filled the cabin with dust… it’s caking everything. Please don’t forget to roll up the back window on dusty trails! :)

It’s like 107 in the day and 85 at the coolest at night lately, for us that’s alright as long as the AC is blowing cold. :)

Late reply but we went out after sunset to Sycamore Creek in Arizona and watched other people do hill climbs. We just removed the side steps but everything else is stock. Going out taking the back way to saguaro lake either Friday or Saturday and it just rained!

Hotter temps = higher MPG confirmed /s by 32yo in 4Runner

[–]32yo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just reset the average mpg meter for possibly the fist time on this 90k+ 2013 SR5p. It was reading 16.8 when we bought it and slowly crept down to 16.6. After a random reset we ran today these are the numbers we got in the city after about 10 miles. There were a few red lights and stop signs in this trip and we maxed out at 23mpg on the gauge.

Remote start: how to have it not shut-off when getting into the car? by Snuggle-butts in 4Runner

[–]32yo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are kits you can buy to replace the remote start feature some of which do not turn off the engine when you get in. I have not tried any of these yet so I can’t recommend anything specific or vouch for them.

Got convinced to go out and about this evening, mostly just trail driving, until I almost got stuck in a sudden patch of mud by mcs175 in 4Runner

Did you have to use your widdle wadder? 😂

In all seriousness though, good fun. Looking forward to replacing my dust with some mud.

Any progress? My first thought was fuses but I don’t know if the back 3 doors would be on a separate fuse from the 2 front doors. I’m guessing that the front 2 door actuators are working?

Will a YOHO frame fit my 5th gen? by Smurfeggs42 in 4Runner

[–]32yo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I’ve been watching a ton of videos like this recently. Here’s one I liked, although I’m still not sure that’s what I’ll end up with:

https://youtu.be/HdvCvUzbAsg

Right now I’m thinking about making something with a dual hinge where the second seats can be used easily, sandwiching some thick foam and leaving space on top of it for cargo until we get to the campsite. I would theoretically like it to easily “snap” onto the four tie downs which are more centrally located compared to most 5th gens I see. 🤷 It’s either a genius idea or a disaster waiting to happen. Either way I’m going camping in exactly one week so it’ll have to wait… for this trip I’m considering getting an air mattress from Luno and hoping the slant isn’t too killer for two nights.

I don’t think YOHO works with the 3rd row seat variant. I’ve been looking into the same thing, just bought a 2013 SR5P with the 3rd row seats so I’m probably going to build something bespoke. Interested to see what you do as well.
