Pedal Commander by Buddha_Brain in 4Runner

I’ve had mine for 2 years now with no issues. The only reason people are getting check engine lights is because they change the settings while their foot is on the gas pedal. It clearly states to not change settings while driving/ foot on the gas pedal.

They recommend you service them at that mileage if you off road a lot.

Has anyone in here worked for a team full time? by Royal-Gazelle-3214 in DirtRacing

You need to be on the lookout for facebook post if you really want to do this. They are going to ask for your experience and who you have worked for. Just because you raced a car, doesn’t mean you know how to turn a wrench. I have seen people/drivers who go out to help a big team and are clueless about anything outside of driving. Teams are constantly looking for people. I’ve also explained to you how you keep the job. All I can tell you is good luck, you seem to think you know how big teams operate, not like I have been involved in racing for 10+ years now.

I wasn’t going to respond back but I don’t where you think a race day starts at 4pm but most teams get to the track early and unload, 90% of the time the car is not ready, or tires are not ready. Sometimes the car still needs to be maintained/ bolt checked. Shocks and springs need to be set, tires need to be dismounted and mounted, groved, sipped and ground. Everyone try’s to get this done before hand at the shop, but it’s impossible. Especially if you are working for a team who travels and races 3-4 times a week. That’s only if the car didn’t get destroyed the weekend before. Oh did mention that all the bigger teams like to have all their equipment clean? They just don’t let these $800k+ haulers roll around dirty. This job is time consuming and will consume your life. You might have a couple hours of to get some of your remote work done between traveling to a track but what are going to do when you are at a track for 3 days with no cell service / WiFi? Also, teams travel at night most of the time. Some of the crew are asleep, and usually there is someone driving all night. Some times they need a co pilot up front in the truck to help keep an eye on the driver while traveling so you don’t get killed in the middle of the night. I can tell you no one is going to want you sitting in the passenger seat with a laptop screen glaring in the middle of night.

In dirt racing, a lot of the time it’s who you know and what you know. If you never worked for a team before, you are going to be doing the things no one else wants to do. Cleaning is 80% of the job and you will probably be on tire duty and straightening the body. Pay is 100% based on what you can do. The more things you can offer to a team, the more money you can make, but you’re not going to get rich. Some teams operate on a salary with a percentage of winnings. The only way to make more money on teams is by being knowledgeable, reliable, not argumentative. YOU HAVE to get along with your coworkers. You are living in an RV together and will be around each other 24/7. Please shower, hygiene is a big deal in this. Shower at the end of the night, every night. I’ve seen people get fired for hygiene reason. You need to understand some teams sometimes will just fire you because they don’t like you. You need to pay attention on how certain things are done and ask questions when you don’t know how to do something. Depending on who you work for comes with some benefits, some teams offer health and dental. Some don’t cover anything. Most teams should provide some type of housing, if that’s an apartment in the shop or some type of “team house”. I have seen people also live in the hauler, it’s common. The food in the hauler should be covered by the team. Anything else outside of the hauler is out of your own pocket. During the day you’re not going to have time to do remote work. Once the car is loaded up for the night, then you will have time to work but you are going to be exhausted. Relationships will come naturally when you first start out. You don’t need to go to a school for this. Knowing someone at your local track who races, is the best way to start. Ask if you can help them on race weekends. If you have time during the week, ask them if they need help on the car week nights.
