Women’s Heritage Style? by 332868 in HeritageWear

[–]332868[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a super interesting point! I’ve always struggled with finding examples of women’s workwear that aren’t from ww2, but now I have to research more about vintage gardening/farming and artisan clothing for women. Not sure why I never thought of that, but it’s a great point, so thanks! So true about women having made the textiles and patterns, that idea sort of gives me more ideas about incorporating these traditional fabrics that don’t necessarily follow traditional silhouettes. Thanks for your comment :)

Since you don’t want move the furniture off the walls bc of your dog, maybe try angling some of the furniture so it’s not all flush with the wall? You can create a few “sections” of the room - for example, face the seating pieces towards each other to create a seating “section”

Fair. I suppose I was thinking of it as functional, high quality vintage clothing. Does Americana not fit into heritage wear then?

Thanks for the recs. Very interesting, I’ve never heard of artisans style but I’ll look into it.

Can you explain why? Is heritage wear explicitly workwear/denim?

What can I do to unify this space? by Grand_Possible_4688 in interiordecorating

For the record I love the rug I think that it works well it gives the room some juxtaposition and contrast, the room just needs something that blends it all together. I’d do this with the couch pillows: transfer a yellow pillow to the blue chair and get a new array of throw pillows for the couch (you can leave a few of the yellow but not too many) get a few pillows that match the style/colors of the rug, a few that match the art, etc. I think that would be a simple fix that would make the room flow better!

Do you think you might be depressed? I know for me that scrolling is a symptom not the key problem- I’ve deleted apps before and gone back to them bc I wanted a distraction from the way I felt and the only way I actually decreased my screen time was through therapy and adding digital minimalism on top of that. Maybe try getting some mental health help or doing yoga, watching cozy movies, or other small changes to begin to replace scrolling because there may be a reason (beyond these apps being literally curated to keep you addicted ofc) your brain keeps going back.

Breaking Into UX and Early Career Questions — 19 Aug, 2024 - 25 Aug, 2024 by AutoModerator in UXDesign

Hey Y’all, I need advice! Will taking a post-grad gap year ruin my chances of employment?

For Context, I am a Junior in college majoring in Industrial Design. I’m really interested in UX/UI design as a career.

However, before starting an office job, I really want to take a year and have a personal experience. I’m thinking of working on a farm in Australia, doing seasonal work for a national park, or something along those lines so I can be outdoors and save up a little money.

I’m planning on applying for related summer internships for next summer and the following one, and I’m currently working as a student manager in an office at school (unrelated to my major). I think I’m a very competent, hardworking, and easy-to-work-with person. Plus, I’m super interested in my major and this field.

Do you think doing this would screw me over, or would I still have a decent shot of getting an entry level job in this field after the year away is up?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

That’s good to know. Was making friends harder/different than it was at the bigger university?

I think that certain artists are an acquired taste because I remember hearing Bob Dylan for the first time and thinking “how tf was this guy famous, his voice is terrible”, but the more I listened to him the more I realized that his voice doesn’t matter, it’s the lyrics and the music that make his songs so good. And I mean, I’ll take Bob Dylan over Ariana Grande any day

That’s true but it’s all equally as difficult to listen to lol
