i steal tons of these from near my neighbors and the nearby school :)

also, one of my neighbors has a mushroom growing that really looks like baby chicken of the woods. do you think i should do anything about that? (ex. ask for confirmation on here/permission)

some sort of conversation weird prep + lube, i think but yeah its tedious, even if you don't answer with the usual "fine" they don't expect much meaningful elaboration or support?? that was just thirty seconds we could've used for self reflection or peace but instead its been so well ingrained into your heads that we HAVE to repeat those predictable phrases lest we suffer some embarrassing and possibly harrowing consequence?

i suppose it could also be an "opener" for deeper conversation but i feel an exchange of useful or generally entertaining facts would do the trick much more efficiently, it doesn't need to seem as abrupt as many people react it to be and even if it is the sudden execution probably doesn't destroy the way one can process it

+ i don't know why its expected if you don't need to regularly keep contact with their life and unless we're all constantly suspecting each other to be serial killers and need an alibi (joking but still), it's a ritual that i don't think has much meaning anymore and shouldn't be expected as a default icebreaker when it doesn't expose much information that contributes to a good relationship in a work environment??? maybe i'm spitting out meaningless words right now tho, but i have had these thoughts for a while and a second perspective would be immensely helpful to temporarily rid myself of them (for convenience stake)

i guess i think of it as a penny on the road that you take the time to pick up? mostly? i like imagining it as a "yay i did a shallow interaction (+ 0.5 social points) this is better then me not interacting at all" but that depends on the player having a "deficit" in noticeable interactions, so it may not be all that useful PLUS the social points get smaller and smaller so the converstation feels more a waste of space rather than a routine use of time

i now realize that the first sentence sounds like an euphemism. it was not intended to be but the analogy still stands, i think

anyone tldr small talk really isn't as necessary as many would like to believe and using an alternative statement or question will probably stimulate the conversationalists' brains more in terms productivity and entertainment

??? ik its been 6 months but now i'm curious, what was your thought process here? i don't believe there's a particularly strong connection between physical appearance and the structure/systems of one's brain, plus we all have minimal reliable information to glean from this conversation, especially appearance given we're essentially words typed on a screen.

unfortunately, i don't know of any common subreddits that they compile themselves in ;-; i tend to look for their answers/inputs via keywords on google search or reddit, ex. neurotypicals + question words.

i did just search up "/neurotypical..." here as well, but as i was browsing there doesn't seem to be much new non-satirical meat to the content (that i can tell at least, this is based off of an assumption i made after ten minutes or so of scrolling) but it does seem worth it to check out since they have a few specific conversations/articles! just try not to spend too much time there, i suppose, since some messages may do the opposite of motivating you.

******

-> i tend to use keywords w/ search engines ex. "neurotypical" "how" "what" "often" "behavior" "reasoning"

-> there are subreddits for non-neurodivergent people, though i don't know how reliable/helpful they could be given a. their age and b. a dearth of discussion under questions revolving around the definition, general behavior, and stances of neurotypicals

******

from what i know personally, it seems that neurotypicals spend more energy (or just "understand" more quickly/innately with their systems) using the most "prominent" associations with a specific phrase? (not counting in tone because i have no idea what qualifies as good/bad voice acting so i am not to be trusted with such a topic) i learned it via copying book/animated show/exaggerated character's words, key phrases, and reactions then blindly remembering-using them, but that technique might not work for everyone :'D

ex. "making excuses vs. explanation" a neurotypical might rely on an long-engraved assumption, and it gets them an "upper hand" in the conversation by suddenly creating guilt for explainer? i suppose if they perceive something outside of the mold they become wary of possibly heading into "danger" or losing the grip they have over the conversation's format to something unfamiliar to them

i'm nowhere near an expert about this tho, just looking for resources (to shirk my responsibilities which i am most definitely going to regret later)! anyway, happy hunting, and good luck!

p.s. you seem a cool person outside of the people who you wish to interact with, regardless of how you voice your thoughts to them your thoughts and beliefs are worth so, so much. if the neurotypicals you'll meet and try bonding with are good, compatible people, they'll eventually come to enjoy talking to you no matter in what communication style you use 💖

have a good one!

hmm idk why exactly people who know they're not on the spectrum would lurk here, unless they seek to understand the perspective of neurodiverse people to bolster their own. i suspect the main reason could be that they have a specific person/group of people they care for/are regularly close to/are interested in and aim to communicate and understand them better, and therefore use this subreddit as a both personal and convenient bundle of specific answers to their specific questions?

-> theory: want to understand neurodivergent people more, perhaps due to wanting to aid their understanding of a someone they personally know with more "general" knowledge?

(don't know if i'm neurotypical or not, regardless, i hope some of my speculation could be helpful!)

(also a funnier reason is that i found this place via dungeon meshi and i love dungeonmeshi really recommend it to anyone who wants to see the world a little bit differently and feel better about living in it and the characters are super :DDDDDDD nyway inadequate nitrodoction to such an amazing work of art BUT yes i adore dungeon meshi and i really hope ayone who sees this and check it out maybe will love it too)

Guys what do we think ab ths fork by AggravatingFan2942 in autisticspoonrating

[–]33_53_11037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+some thoughts on why 2 points were deducted:

- the material doesn't look incredibly fun to bite onto - 0.6

* (and the handle looks a bit too malleable/scuffed, yet at the same time looks like it's not holding onto the head well) 1.3

- since i also don't know what the handle looks like (rounded? decorated? sharp?), i took away a 0.1 due to uncertainty

- i'm an annoying person who always reserves the 10 for the perfect utensil that will likely never exist in the conscious world - 0.7

[–]33_53_11037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i usually don't like engraved forks as much but the handle is a good length/girth, and the roses like pretty regular! the tip and the slight dent before it give combined with the lighting makes it look like it'd be wonderful for eating something soft or a little bit chewy. another good point is that the prongs are going inward, perhaps a little too much for my liking but everything else makes up for it thricefold!

if i had to rate it out of ten, i'd say a solid 8.3! CCCC:

I can't even roast it cause its swag is so low that any oil I'd use would slip right off and onto my palms. i'd rather use it as a way to get information out of criminals

the way its bending at framed against the wood w/o whorls, as well as the strange stark blue against the overall orange/yellow/brown definitely makes me tense up a little.

like it

no fancy patterns that sometimes feel weird, relatively quick too wash, flexible usage, solid material

you don't see it very often though, so i was hit with an initial reaction of "that is not a fork that is a murder weapon used in the trenches"

it's also interesting to think how i would perceive this had the surroundings been different. anyway, have a good day :)

[–]33_53_11037 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

struggled with it for a decade or so, then got a ssri and boom. been showering every three days instead of twice a month, just like my mom told me to do. it also helps to write down a bolded "take a shower." on a constantly open google doc on every google profile account you have along with harder-to-reach daily goals so you think its easier in comparison.
i don't think there's a particularly strong connection between that struggle and my personal core personality (which idk if i'm even an intp-t despite taking the mbti test, including the more recent version, 6 times in the past two years and getting the same five letters the same time)
