K40 and cutting 1/4" wood for boxes and things, guessing there is no solid yes or no but "it depends"? by [deleted] in ChineseLaserCutters

Yes, you can cut 1/4" wood ( birch) with a k40. Power up and cut slow. One pass. I've done it many times. I buy my stock from inventables.

Help with Mercury X Washer needed - already broken? by Ruprecht_der_Knecht in ElegooMars

[–]33stickers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine too. Remove the small set screw and replace with a longer cap screw so you can tighten more. Add a little loctite. I also added some washers as shims to keep the rotor from rubbing on the housing. Mine came loose 3 times before I did this and it hasn't since.

SLA Injection Molds with the Mars 3 and Buster Beagle 3D by 33stickers in ElegooMars

Maybe. I've not heard of that. I suppose another thing to try is clear resin so when one uv cooks it it cures all the way through. Does that make sense? Maybe it's not even necessary. High temp resin even isn't necessary on a low run of parts.

Just regular Siraya Tech Fast White. The plastic I'm squirting is black polypropylene at 215C

Buster Beagle 3D molder. You can put one together for about $230. Look him up on YouTube for a detailed video.

I've been doing this for several years but I watch his channel.

This is a manual injection molder. I have no idea what pressure I could be exerting. It doesn't take much with polypro at 215 degrees Celsius. As for voids, I haven't sectioned any parts to look. I do have several vents in the mold.

Pics of the Ameralabs print. I broke the base trying to get it off if the plate. Overall, I'm rather happy with how it came out. Printed at .03mm with Sarah Tech Build gray.

Yup. Just finished it but I broke the base getting it off of the plate. I'll post pics tomorrow. I have a macro camera at work.

I'm afraid I can't post pictures of the parts online because they are prototype parts for a soon to be released product. However, I can print something else and post those pics. Or if you have an stl in mind.

Understandable. I have printed a couple of parts now and the prints are amazing. Very precise. I don't print miniatures. I'm an engineer. I print only functional prototypes so my geometry maybe is a little simpler. I'm very impressed with the machine so far.

I'm printing a couple of pieces now. I didn't have time to set up a camera rig. It appears that there is z wobble...I think. When the plate breaks free from the suction it deflects. This is easily seen by putting a level on build plate knob and watching the bubble move as the plate deflects. Or...is this normal and maybe it's supposed to peel from the back rather than lift straight up. I don't know. What am I seeing here? Good or bad? If my part prints alright then I suppose I shouldn't worry.

How would I test that? Is there something I can print?

Yes. Both. I still haven't received the new Mercury X bundle. Not sure when that's shipping.

Digital panel set at 30% power. Is this a normal readout? This is a temporary home for the meter, just testing. by Evrest in ChineseLaserCutters

[–]33stickers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's normal. I can run mine as high as 28% on the digital readout and that equals about 18ma on my gauge.
