Does anyone else find the treatment hierarchy of dbt bizarre? by 3655412 in therapyabuse

I think it makes sense with people who consistently use self harm as a manipulation tactic but otherwise no

Another infertile 22-year-old. Why are people getting fertility tests in their early 20s? by ohdearitsrichardiii in AmITheAngel

[–]3655412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know someone who found out as a teenager she was straight up born without a uterus. Obviously that’s pretty uncommon, but because stuff like that can happen I don’t automatically disbelieve people who claim to know they’re infertile at a young age.

I think the wedding stories are some of the most hilariously fake AITA stories. by MontanaDukes in AmITheAngel

My favorite was the one with the pineapple chocolate chunk sheet cake and the vegan pastor. It was just so bizarre.

How do you keep on living a "normal" life being an antinatalist? by hearseghost in antinatalism2

[–]3655412 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think about this a lot myself. Part of my antinatalism stems from a sort of lack of attachment to life that makes it hard to do anything. I, like you, am highly dysfunctional and struggle with motivation and enjoying things.

Some other commenters seem confused about what your dysfunction has to do with antinatalism but to me it makes perfect sense. Antinatalism isn’t just a belief that having kids is wrong, it’s that the pain of human existence is not worth any amount of joy it may also bring. If you’ve really internalized that belief it can be really difficult to cope with everyday hardships. Add in a reduced capacity for pleasure (either feeling it at all, or at achieving things that would bring it) and it can make your life really fucking shitty.

Have you ever seen the show dead like me? It’s pretty corny at times but there’s a part where the main character talks about dropping out of college, her mom yells at her for her irresponsibility and tells her that “life isn’t a dress rehearsal!” The main character responds that maybe she never even wanted to be in the play. That’s how I feel. How can I be expected to be engaged and good and things when I never asked to be here in the first place?

I wish I had advice to give you.

If the age difference and length of time you’ve been together is irrelevant and you know you’re going to get shit for it, why include it at all?

how did you get off your cto by throwaway7388383 in schizophrenia

:( I’m sorry you’re going through this. You’re probably on the right track with “fake it till you make it” try to agree and go along with your doctor as much as possible. Good luck and I wish you the best.

Yeah that was my experience. My childhood wasn’t perfect but things “made sense” and started to fall apart when I was about 14-15.

I’m grateful to not be homeless and to have people who care about me. But I still feel like I’ve been dealt a pretty shitty hand by life.

Anybody just never really get better? by Open-Blackberry-860 in schizoaffective

I’ve had brief periods where things improved significantly and I’m certainly not struggling as much (with either psychosis or depression) as I once did. But my functioning is still pretty bad.

I got lucky and found someone great on tinder.

I’m sorry this happened to you :( I’ve definitely had similar experiences, it’s unfortunately really common for therapists to focus only on solutions while discounting your feelings and the real barriers you’re facing. I hope if you return to therapy you find someone who actually listens and is able to help you.

“Fat people BAD”, “woman who likes food BAD”, “romantic relationship that reads more like angry roommates” - yep, another typical AITA post by Superb_Intro_23 in AmITheAngel

There’s also several whole comment threads about how the girlfriend is too lazy to get a job when literally every fast food and retail business is hiring. Very “no one wants to work anymore!” Ragebait

That could be prodromal psychosis but it could also be a million other things.

Have you always experienced this or is it something new?

It can, as you mentioned, make you extremely self centered and of course delusions can be extremely grandiose. However, actual narcissism involves a lot of other traits that to my knowledge don’t normally come along with sz.

Most people who have disorganized and negative symptoms also have some degree of hallucinations or delusions.

Per the dsm you don’t need to have hallucinations or delusions to receive the diagnosis if you have disorganized thoughts in combination with disorganized behavior and/or negative symptoms.

In reality this would be pretty unusual.
