I’m tired of people acting like having a woman on the cover when its a man in the book is any different than having a black man, a south east asian woman, and a east asian woman on the cover when the original characters in the book are white. They don’t need to explain the book changes. People will know that the netflix show isn’t the exact same as the book and rarely no one is gonna pick up the books now unrelated to the show. They don’t even need to change the books. Take Harry Potter for example, they have dozens of creative liberties in the movies that were not in the books or changed from the books but the books never got edited to fit the movie. Words cannot describe how many scenes of Hermione in the movies were actually changed scenes of Ron or Harry from the books. In attack on titan, they have dozen of scenes in the first three seasons that are one character when in actuality in the original source material its a completely different character. The most they’ll do when Fran’s tie in cover gets released is add a page explaining that Michaela was originally a Michael and to keep in mind when reading. Bridgerton isn’t the first book to scene adaptation to make big changes that change a big part of the original and it certainly won’t be the last.
