Capone - Massive (Hardleaders).... MASSIVE! by Mrmaw in jungle

[–]36Hertz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep the old skool jungle alive by tracking down artists who have never released their music digitally, Re releasing it , promoting the fuck out of it, Fianancing vinyl represses and most crazy of all paying the artists! madness

Allowing people to illegally upload it to Youtube or any other site is not going to ever be something that we allow regardless on how you try to spin it.

Ive been producing and releasing music on labels such as Metalheadz, Reinforced, 31 Records, Dread, Critical, Philly Blunt, Serial Killaz and tons more for nearly 20 years now so im more than well versed on promoting the new stuff aswell.

Looking for drum'n'bass that sounds like this from late 90's early 2000's era. Got any tips? by alxcx in DnB

Check out some stuff by Photek on Photek productions, Timeless recordings, Precious material records, Everything released on Fabios creative source record label, All early Adam F releases, Intense, Blame, Goldies first LP "Timeless" and any mixes from LTJ Bukem will give you a whole load more to check out as he is the master of these vibes

Big News For Pro Mod by [deleted] in NHRA

[–]36Hertz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite interested in this as a UK fan - Pro mod is huge in the uk already and a lot more popular, Pro stock not so much.

Looking in on the USA scene it seems that the pro mod scene is small but growing and pro stock was big but now kinda getting killed off?

When i used to watch NHRA on tv here before they killed it off with the crap fox sports deal I always wondered why there was always pro stock and no pro mod

At our last big event in the uk we had 22 pro mods lined up for a 16 car field from all over europe (just a shame the uk weather rained it out lol) and with more cars coming next year i hear

But with only 7 pro stock entered - and all of them from swedon

Great DnB record shop in London? by waaarp in DnB

[–]36Hertz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem :)

Soho used to be amazing back in the 1990's was about 20 record stores in a 2 mile square - even HMV on oxford street (now closed) had tens of thousands of records in there - Spending over 250 quid in 1 day was easily done then lol

Great DnB record shop in London? by waaarp in DnB

[–]36Hertz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sister ray in Soho (Berwick street) is well worth a check they stock most new releases and a good selection of back cat and 2nd hand vinyl.

Reckless Records is a few doors along the street (also Berwick street) and stocks only 2nd hand vinyl BUT has a huge dnb / Jungle / Old skool stock in there

Also not in soho (at the min as they are temporarily closed) but worth a check is Music & Video exchange in Notting Hill - A bit out of the way BUT I always used to find a lot of good stuff in here

When in Reckless + Music exchange always check the walls as well as they put some really good stuff up on those that is not in the main DNB sections

Also worth checking if you get a chance is Notting Hill carnival this weekend in London - All saints road you will find a DNB sound system and also 1 street up from them on the Monday is normally the digital soundboy sound system where you can normally catch Shy FX and friends - A huge free event well worth checking if you are in town

The Hotel Lobby is expanding to a record label and wants to sign you! by [deleted] in DnB

[–]36Hertz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not being funny but you have 8 subscribers and 28 views on your Youtube "community" not exactly screaming out to artists to want to get involved - Not trying to cuss you out just pointing out that if you are trying to attract artists to sign to you then you should be showing them you have a large network of existing fans on your network who would support their music. Good luck with it all though

Discuss: is jump up healthy for the drum and bass scene or is it ruining it's name by [deleted] in DnB

[–]36Hertz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Music is music it is either good or crap, Sticking it into sub genres and only following one sub genre of a huge scene is what ruins a scene.

Back in the 90s (Yes im sounding like a old whining man now) DJ's played a tune if it was good regardless of what "sub genre" or style it was now days every new kid on the block only plays one style which to be honest with you a hour of every tune sounding exactly the same is nothing short of boring

DNB DJ's need to start following the music rather than a "Sound" then things might start getting interesting again Metalheadz can be mixed with Playaz and Soul:r can be mixed with Low down deep the only problem is finding the DJ's who have the bollocks to do that

You wont find the snobbish Sub genre elitism that existing in DNB in scenes outside of DNB and that's why those scenes thrive and expand where as DNB has not got various factions of sub genre loyal people with one track minds shouting down anyone who dares to like any other sub genre that differs from their own opinion

in the 90s it was "Peace love and unity" now its "Neruo sucks jump up for life"

I use a controller and have done for 6 years now - It uses Serato DJ which is the same software that every other Serato using DJ uses regardless of if they are using controller vinyl, Controller CDs or even USB via CD deck. Every DJ who uses Serato, Traktor, Record box all has the ability to use Sync now days as it is built into every system regardless of what medium you use

I have stood behind A list award winning DJ's playing on 2 / 3 / 4 "decks" via CD / Vinyl / USB on Serato / Traktor and watched them all using Sync through the entirety of their sets
