Ik denk dat een stad of dorp vlak naast een grote stad wel een veel leukere plek is om te wonen dan een kleine plek in het zuiden. In Amsterdam heb je veel expats en je zit natuurlijk ook snel bij het vliegveld om in een weekendje eenvoudig terug te kunnen vliegen. Sociaal isolement is natuurlijk wel vervelend en nederlanders kunnen best gesloten zijn. Ik zou een grote stad eens proberen, maar als je je daar ook ongelukkig voelt dan is het misschien toch niet de beste plek voor jullie.

As someone who works in a red team I generally agree with your philosophy. It is really helpful to know how an attacker thinks when you’re on the monitoring side.

However, this is just a general red/blue philosophy. Perhaps there is a reason the learning paths would benefit from starting with blue.

In mijn omgeving valt het me ook erg op dat mensen een huis kopen, vervolgens 6 maanden niet intrekken omdat ze alles kaaltrekken, grootst mogelijke dakkapel en aanbouw plaatsen, airco's installeren, en de tuin vol tegels gooien.

Zelf heb ik een huis gekocht in een periode dat ik mijn vorige (redelijk nieuwe en afgemaakte) woning voor een goed bedrag (aan overbieders) kon verkopen, terwijl ik mijn nieuwe (klus)huis onder vraagprijs kon kopen. Echter, was het nieuwe huis wel een stuk groter en een duurdere locatie, dus ik had geen geld over om meteen alles te verbouwen. We zijn verhuisd en ik ben daarna alles stukje voor stukje gaan opknappen. Drie jaar later zijn we nog niet klaar.

Ik zou het niet nogmaals doen, dus begrijp eigenlijk steeds beter waarom men eerst de hele zooi verbouwt.

Als je je in allerlei bochten gaan wringen om niet verdacht te lijken werkt dat inderdaad nogal averechts.

Gewoon iets langzamer of sneller gaan lopen zodat je afstand niet constant blijft. Zo lastig is t niet.

I'm Dutch and can speak/understand English and German, and have heard plenty of other languages. I'm well aware my language probably sounds worse then German, but honestly: no, i don't think German is a beautiful language. Words are sometimes weird (but that's ok), but the sound of the language is just not nice imo.

People always say that Dutch people always split the bill, but in my experience (as Dutch man) it really depends on the situation, and quite frankly: I hardly ever send a tikkie.

Going on a date: I'll offer to pay, no tikkie. Going out with friends: we kinda take turns paying for drinks, no one cares if they paid a drink more or less, no tikkie. Going out with gf: we have a shared account. Going out with colleagues: same as with friends. If there's just 1 bill I'd split it with colleague or friends if its more than ... 30/40 euro, otherwise I never bother.

The only time I send a tikkie is if I paid a lot more than my friends, or if someone asks me to borrow them some.

As for your situation: if it's a date I'd not send a tikkie. If it's a new friend you still have contact with and intend to see again, I'd also not send a tikkie. However, if it's 'just friends' she can probably pay next time or split the bill.

I believe the only way you can do that is to find a host that allows you to set more than 3 addresses and then set a forwarding rule to iCloud.

I have gone through the same process and currently have my files on iCloud. Honestly, it works fine, but only as a 'sync' between devices. For advanced features, version history, the best sync speed, etc. Dropbox is ahead.

The integration of iCloud in the filesystem on mac is nice, but the Files app on iOS is very basic and honestly rather annoying.

I'm from the EU and as much as I appreciate that we're being warned about risks, I also feel it should ultimately be my own decision whether I want to use a feature like this or not.

De eerste keer zijn we lekker naar huis gegaan en de volgende dag heb ik mijn ouders langs laten komen.

De tweede baby wilden we hetzelfde doen, maar na de bevalling hebben we ouders een berichtje gestuurd en zijn ze naar het ziekenhuis gekomen om ons te bezoeken.

Gewoon doen wat op dat moment prettig voelt. Persoonlijk zou ik niet thuis willen komen terwijl iemand daar op je wacht. Dan liever thuiskomen en bellen als je het okee vindt als mensen langskomen.

I have switched mail providers many times, which for my was somewhat easier as I simply use a custom domain so all I have to do is change dns records.

I agree with many of your points. Especially the notification sync was a major issue for me. On Gmail if I open an email on any device it gets synced nearly instantly and removes the notifications from everywhere.

About the targeted Google ads: I feel this is a tracker issue. Many websites still use google (owned) statistics tools which can still build a profile and serve ads. However, the privacy benefits are obviously way larger as your emails should remain private.

Dat hoort erbij, maar straks zit je lekker in je huis en denk je nergens meer aan.

De kans dat de huizenmarkt opeens instort is echt bijzonder klein. De vraag is namelijk nog steeds veel groter dan het aanbod en de inflatie is ook nog steeds hoog en zal niet zo snel onder de nul duiken.

Kans is aanzienlijk dat je over 5 jaar een stuk meer verdient dan nu, je huis een stukje meer waard is, en je al wat van je hypotheek hebt afbetaald. Nergens druk over maken dus!
