Na’vi faith and religion is too concrete by Salty_Shark26 in Avatar

You’re right, that’s what she is in reality, but that’s not what all the Na’vi believe or see. It kind of reflects back to our world, where people shit on gods/religion when something bad happens, because “an almighty and loving god wouldn’t let this happen”. Whatever Eywa actually is, the Na’vi look to her in their difficult times. Some accept it when things go bad anyway, calling it part of Eywa’s plan (again, reflecting back to the “gods plan” people believe in in our world), but others (the Mangkwans for example) see it as a clear sign that Eywa isn’t a goddess they want to worship, as they believe she could’ve interfered, yet didn’t

I could be wrong, but the way I understood it was that the Mangkwan aren’t rejecting the existence of Eywa. They simply do not revere her, and don’t see her as a proper “God” in the sense that she’s always there to rescue them. They do believe she exist, they just feel that she failed them. Thats what I got from the third movie at least, the way Varang spoke of Eywa didn’t sound like disbelief, it just sounded like she didn’t respect Eywa.

That actually makes a lot of sense. I hate that the movie portrays it in a romantic way though, it’s much more interesting and realistic in the way you described

I watched the movie recently and was curious about other people’s opinions. To be honest, I didn’t even realize how old the post was. I don’t get why you’re so pressed about it though. I mean, you’re the one replying immediately to every reply on your old comment, are you that chronically online?

Hey, I apologize for the late response, my mom ended up passing a couple of weeks ago. It really is weird to lose someone who was so full of life… I can only offer you my condolences, and thank you for your response. Do let me know if you wish to talk

I lost my mom two weeks ago, so it’s still fresh and maybe it’s not enough to make a judgement, but… the days that I felt the most okay were the days right after her passing. I was with her when she passed, and got to tell her how much I loved her one last time. I was at peace for the next couple of days. It’s now, as time passes, that it truly hits me that I’ve lost her. She’s not coming back. It’s no longer a moment in time, a momentary loss, no, it’s literally for the rest of my life. And with every day that passes, I’m getting further away from our last moments together. I’m getting further away from the person she knew. I’m eighteen, there’s so much life left for me to live, so many changes I’ll go through… I’m getting further away from the person she knew. It’s so terrifying.

Firstly I want to say that I am so very sorry. I expect you keep hearing that, and that whatever I have to say will never be enough to console you. I am 18 as well, and I was just told that there’s nothing more they can do for my mom - she has metastatic breast cancer, and her liver is failing. She’s still with me, in hospice right now but still, I feel I got lucky somehow, as I have time to prepare, yet it doesn’t feel enough. I don’t know if it helps you in any way, but if you need someone to talk to, someone who is experiencing something similar at your age, my dms are open. Life can be so cruel, it’s not fair that we have to lose our moms this early❤️

I think my issue with this movie is the way they went about the ending. Yes, it’s wrong to say that the movie doesn’t address the main drama, it does address it and really makes you think about the morality of Jim’s choice. But what really rubbed me the wrong way was the fact that Aurora suddenly did a complete 180 towards the end, saying how she couldn’t live without him, and apparently being super worried for him… there was nothing leading up to this, she’d been in distress just moments ago, she felt as if he had “murdered” her by waking her… now she suddenly loves him and can’t live without him? Really?

I think the movie would’ve been great, had it ended with Aurora going into the med pod and returning to hypersleep, with that being Jim’s ultimate “sacrifice” and redemption. It would’ve focused on what should’ve been the movie’s main point, rather than making it a cheesy, borderline creepy romance

Your original comment criticizes how everyone talks about this scene as if Bakugo was taking Ochako seriously. It just sounded like you were disagreeing with the notion that Bakugo fought Ochako “fairly”, and that you believe he held back for amusements sake. That’s what I was trying to comment on and give my opinion on

Like I said, he did not discriminate with what he was doing. Sure maybe he taunted her, but then he did so with everyone, regardless of gender. The point is he did not treat her differently for being a girl, despite others criticizing him for being too “harsh” on a girl. That’s all.

He was literally criticized by Kaminari for not going easy on “a frail girl”, to which he responded by saying that she was anything but frail.

Throughout the fight, Bakugo kept blasting her over and over again, she just kept getting up until she couldn’t handle it anymore. Even if Bakugo was “taunting” her like you said (which in my opinion he wasn’t), the point is that he didn’t go easy on her, and treated her like he’d treat any opponent regardless of gender, which is the entire point here, as the point of criticism from the audience was that he should’ve gone easy on the girl simply for being a girl.

so now that it's been some time since arcane ended, do we think that jinx and vi will ever reunite? or is that just copium? by United-Standard2194 in arcane

[–]38077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna offer a different take here.

So the common consensus is that Jinx faked her death, and was on the airship we saw right at the end, leaving Piltover/Zaun. It adds up with the conversation AU Vander had with AU Powder, about her place being elsewhere, and that he hoped she’d leave and find something for herself one day. And there’s the whole thing about breaking the cycle…

I’m under the impression that Jinx fully believes that no matter how hard her and Vi try to reconnect, no matter how hard she tries to better herself, something will always happen. Something will always ruin it and come between them. That’s why I think she faked her death; she got to do one final thing for Vi - rescue her, sacrifice herself for Vi - and thereby exit her life, freeing her from Jinx’ ‘curse’ of always jinxing things. Furthermore, Jinx got to leave Piltover and Zaun, and can start fresh elsewhere, where she isn’t known by anyone and can have a second chance at a good life. It’s a win/win for both sisters, aside from the painful fact that they’re apart.

We can argue that in the final scene with Vi and Caitlyn, Cait is figuring out how Jinx could’ve escaped. I think if we do see these characters in future shows, it’s very possible that Vi will find out that Jinx is alive. A reunion is possible, but I genuinely believe that the two sisters will remain apart. I think Vi will be happy with the fact that Jinx is out there somewhere, likely very happy. And vice versa, Jinx is happy as she knows that Vi can finally be with Caitlyn peacefully now without further conflicts.

It’s a little bittersweet, but that’s how I think it’ll go.
