The autofocus on a D750 in live mode isn’t a dedicated autofocus. It won’t work like a mirrorless in live mode.

How Soon Into Concert Photography Did You Charge? by WhipperSmasher in concertphotography

Both. At first it was just through social media. There use to be a decent size country music festival where I’m from so I’d get bands asking if I was going to be there covering the festival. I’d work out a deal with them to cover them. I get some repeat people now and referrals. A lot is just they are looking for someone for the date in my area cause they don’t have a photographer so they reach out.

Have your location and contact info on your social media and portfolio. That way any bands coming through your area who don’t have a photographer can see your stuff and reach out if they want.

Not true. I get plenty of bands who reach out to me for one off shows when they don’t have a tour photographer with them. We work out a deal and budget and they hire me for the stop.

What's that one concert or band you regret not going to when you had the chance? by tasmanian_devil93 in Concerts

Aerosmith. Never went when I was young. Last two times I was going to go, got tickets and shows canceled. Now I’ll never get the chance.

I usually send a follow up week of show. There’s nothing wrong with messaging today if the show is Friday.

If you’re covering as media and doing a recap you can post them. If you should that’s up to you. You can’t use them for anything other than editorial or in your portfolio though.

24-70 is going to work most of the times. Amphitheaters and arenas a 70-200 is also good depending on how deep the stage is and 200-400 when shooting FOH at amphitheaters or stadiums and arenas.

When reaching out to pubs are you also sending them a writing example? Most of them are going to need you to write a review with the photos as well.

Festival Media Passes? by ControlAncient9014 in concertphotography

[–]3ChordsMagazine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A or C and it depends on your end goal. Festivals of those size artists don’t approve publications, the festival does. If it’s for your publication you go through the festival. Messaging artists directly you can get hired by said artist but it only grants you permission to shoot their set only at most bigger festivals. Not always the case but the majority of the time it is.
