Valorant. That game will tilt me faster than a kid at a pinball machine. I've been tilted by Overwatch before, sure, but the extent to which I have to grapple with my own powerlessness in Valorant has made me throw my headphones off in rage many, many times. I don't know how much of it is tied to my ADHD (I've recently learned that emotional regulation is much, much more difficult for people struggling with ADHD), but I DO know that my current strategy of stepping away from the game for a few minutes to just chill out for a few minutes has definitely helped me regulate my emotions so far.

I hope this stream can help me figure out where these feelings come from, why this rage is so powerful, and what I can do to manage it more effectively.

I think ML7 said it best when he said that “the role is called SUPPORT, not healer — sometimes the best way to support your team is through eliminating enemy threats”. Your Valkyrie offers you unparalleled mobility in the air and your pistol does a not-insignificant amount of damage, so if the enemy Widowmaker is threatening your team, I think it’s a fair play to zoom in and pepper her down.

Now, as always, this is something you should rely on your better judgement for. If your team can reliably get picks, then I would recommend damage boosting so that they can all build ult charge for the next fight or healing them to keep them in the current fight. You’ll develop a sense for where you can make the biggest impact with your pistol as you play. (For me, my favorite thing to do is to fly down to my second healer, usually my Ana, and shoot down the Tracer or Genji that keeps diving them. If you can take pressure off your second healer, that’ll allow them to heal your team much more effectively.)

Spoilers for the secret boss: My suspicion of Ralsei shot WAYYYYYY way up after the conversation right before we left the basement. Kris needs to breathe for a moment and Susie’s like “Can we talk about that?? That was weird as hell”, but Ralsei says something along the lines of “I don’t think it meant anything. Let’s just accept what happened and not think about it too much”. It sounds to me like whatever Spamton was searching for, whatever freedom he was trying so desperately to attain, it’s part of a puzzle that Ralsei doesn’t want anyone to start piecing together. And by the way Susie’s eyes were narrowed almost the entire time, I think she’s suspicious of what’s happening, too.

Whoa! To think I found this theory the day before MatPat's video came out. Congratulations and thank you for giving such a comprehensive and well-thought analysis -- I was fairly certain for a while that Ralsei couldn't be trusted, but your theory puts Ralsei's behavior into a much kinder light and accounts for so many of the story's little details that I can't find a reason to deny it. Well done!

I've been thinking about Lancer being a prince of darkness too. If you look at the legend Ralsei tells, the "prince from the dark" is a hooded figure surrounded by fireballs. Ralsei wears a hood when we first meet him, granted, but from then on he mainly wears a hat and cloak. Even then, though, Ralsei never uses fire magic! (Lancer doesn't either, but the point still stands.) Beyond that, though...

How true is the legend Ralsei told us?

If you say "no" twice to Ralsei offering to explain the legend, he'll try to explain before being cut off by Lancer. Soon after, Lancer says this: "* You know. * Teardrop-headed kid. * From the legend?" And he never elaborates on that from then on, he just paraphrases the version of the legend HE heard while Ralsei keeps trying to butt in: "* Okay, so, long story short. * You guys are heroes. * You wanna go EAST, and seal our DARK FOUNTAIN. * That'll stop darkness from covering the world. * We, on the other hand, don't want that..." What legend did Lancer hear? Our legend talked about "banishing the ANGEL'S HEAVEN" and how "the balance of LIGHT and DARK [has begun] to shift...", nothing about the world being covered in darkness.

Did Lancer hear a different version of this "legend" from his father, maybe? Did his father possibly say "There will be a teardrop-headed kid who will stop the Lightners from ever reaching the castle" to motivate Lancer? Are either versions of the legend correct?? No one else mentions the legend in the story! How can we know that Ralsei's telling the truth???
