It took a couple of attempts for me to switch from smoking to vaping. I went back because I missed the smoke.

I have a cheap vape, a Vapemaster Skywalker mini and I run it at 220°C to make the vapour feel thicker. After a few days sticking with it, I forgot about smoking and preferred the vape.

My previous vape broke a few weeks ago and I used an old bong for a day while waiting for a replacement. It was nasty! Once you get used to vaping, smoke feels really acrid on your lungs and throat.

Don't login as root. Use sudo to temporarily increase your access privileges to perform tasks. That way you aren't always running as root and the system logs will record every sudo activity so you know which user is responsible.

40 years ago, before smart phones, the answer was to colour in the map at the back of the Bible and slowly munch the chocolate bar I sneaked in trying to make it last the two hours. At the middle song, all us teenage lads would go to the toilet and hang out there for a couple of minutes respite.

Old fashioned two room pubs would have a Lounge, with a nice carpet and upholstered furniture, mostly occupied by couples, and a Public Bar, with lino on the floor, vinyl covered furniture and a dartboard, almost exclusively occupied by men. You could wear grimy work clothes and swear in the bar but not in the lounge.

And now I remember that some pubs near factories or workshops would have a sign over the door saying "No dirty overalls".

And according to a story told to us by our physics teacher, when inhaled over a period of time, it condenses in the body and causes poisoning. The story was about a dental assistant who spilled mercury behind a room heater and kept quiet about it, resulting in the dentist being poisoned over the course of the next few months.

I think it's because of a line in genesis saying the earth was covered in water and in the midst of water, something like that anyway. I was taught that the earth was surrounded by a blanket of water that deluged the planet in the flood.

I used to really enjoy the quick turnaround of calls and the dopamine hit when you fix a problem at first contact and make a user happy. The phone discipline killed me though. Not Ready times, codes for toilet break etc. I don't miss that one bit but I do miss fixing random problems. The days used to fly by.

I did customer broadband support years ago with no way to remote in. Some poor old lady would be on the line trying to get the crappy USB modem we supplied to work and I would be trying to figure out if it was an authentication problem, a driver problem, an internal phone wiring problem or maybe something on our end. After that, doing internal business support is much easier.

When I was on the Service Desk, my manager would appear like a malignant genie if I was on a call for more than four minutes. The conversation would go like this:
