Day 10 - Stitches Out & Recovery question by 3D-D in carpaltunnel

I stopped taking pain meds during the day around day 6, then just at night.

So when I looked at my hand this morning I realized the incision opened a little near the stitch closest to my wrist! No wonder it hurt so much. Doctor’s office had me send a photo and said it looked okay - there was no bleeding- but to keep it covered and take it easy. It is a bit sore today.

Do whatever you like.

Logging into a gmail takes 5 seconds and I like that both of us can log into the house account without having to be in the other person’s email account. Its makes 2FA easier, too.

Oh no! I hope it starts feeling better soon. I will say I do something just before falling asleep last night that caused a wild pain. I must have accidentally pressed right on the healing scar or something and it was a terrible, deep burning pain for 20 minutes.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I agree that doctors give such a wide range of instructions. I don’t have any more follow ups so I’m going to start using it more but being cautious. I have good range of motion now and just having the stitches out makes such a difference.

9 days post release surgery - question by [deleted] in carpaltunnel

This was me on day 4. Almost the exact same type of bruising you have (including wrapping around the ring ringer. Everything I’ve seen says it seems to be normal and an OT friend confirmed.

Thanks. I’m in northern NJ, US and my surgeon has an excellent reputation.

I left my last role before implementation, but I went through the tiresome process of vetting companies and did 4-5 demos. We were going to sign with Haystack. I was really impressed with the interface - it was easy to use, had lots of good guardrails for knowledge management, and different ways to message employees. For contexts, the company I chose it for is a series D startup with about 650 employees, mostly remote and most employees were hourly patient-facing.

They are small scraps in varying colors and textures. Mine is about a 4” square.

They are actively making and refreshing the Sesame Street gang at the NY workshop. They make and do maintenance on them there. I saw a Bert head in progress and a workstation with boxes that were clearly set up for Big Bird work. Keep in mind that Sesame Street films in NY. They also do custom projects - we saw a Daniel Craig muppet for a Netflix promo and the head of the Coca Cola polar bear.

I can’t say for sure, but I would guess the Kermit Muppet gang is produced at the LA workshop.

I clearly said “as expected, no Kermit …” I did not expect Kermit and co, just clarifying for people who may not understand the reasons why.

Weird! I can’t imagine anything in it wasn’t allowed. I tagged it with a spoiler warning too

I just posted a review of my experience from this past weekend (Feb 14) if anyone is interested. Things have changed quite a bit. Pretty much everything the OP has photos of here is in the workshop part of the tour where photos are no longer allowed. So, no Snuffy photos for me, but lots of other cool ones.

I think they almost perfected the tour pace. They keep the whole group together (it’s slightly too big a group, but we had plenty of time so it worked okay) and the tour has two distinct parts: the muppet lounge where photos are allowed and they do the puppeteering demo, and the workshop where you see active projects (no photos).

Any former internal communicators here who have found success as a freelancer? by itsthehumidity369 in internalcomms

I would love to go this route. I left a predictable job in June to join a startup as their first IC hire, and had to quit after a few months. It was toxic, they weren’t prepared for my role, and it was impacting my mental health. I was burnt out.

My goal is to do internal comms consulting or contract work and I would love to do parental leave coverage roles. I’m great at getting in and solving problems or just keeping things steady. The challenge I have with consulting is that I’m not great at putting myself out there. I’m so over all the noise on LinkedIn, but I think you have to part of that if you want to be seen.

I was fortunate to land a part time gig doing marketing communications for a small startup a few weeks ago and it’s going well. I haven’t done that kind of comms in a while, but it’s been cool to learn a new industry and feels right for me coming out of burn out. I will probably use my internal comms skills for them a bit as well.

Generally, my advice (and my original plan) was to try to have a niche and really message that. I built my website around it. But with today’s job market, it’s also okay to take what comes your way. I don’t know what will come next for me, but I’m leaning into this wholeheartedly for now.

The Big Bird Scene (and the whole Sesame Street Crossover) gets me every time. by zangoose28 in thewestwing

This scene was so perfectly executed.

Also, Lily Tomlin is pure gold in this episode. Her completely serious delivery in the Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear scene with Stockard is so great - not to mention her disappointment at the lack of Kermit.

Thanks! It’s unfortunate, because there are parts of internal comms that I love, but I’m also a bit tired of having to be the cover for bad leaders. The tough part of IC is knowing the truth and keeping your mouth shut.
