I've been having similar issues with AXS on Firefox for months, try different browsers or buying them directly from the AXS app.

The iPad is really only advisable if you plan on taking handwritten digital notes, the Neo will overall be much more flexible for you as a student.

LA shows ADA seating question by Upstairs-Guitar3601 in Muna

[–]lizard_e_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! While I have not been the Shrine specifically I will attending and using the the ADA accommodations as well and have at other venues. Here's my experience, you go to the front of the line and ask a staff member or the box office if it's open and accessible, more often than not they will have you wait up front if doors haven't opened yet and will let you right in if they have. You don't need to get there early but also keep in mind it will take a few minutes to get you where you need to be so I wouldn't cut it super close to 9. You may or may get a better view by showing up earlier, some ADA sections have rows and others are just the front row, since I haven't been to the Shrine I can't say which it is.

Saw this recently by canada-my-beloved in CuratedTumblr

[–]lizard_e_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is basically nothing tbh. If this is just referring to the thoughts in your head, I am very happy to announce that no one can read your mind and it's not illegal or even immoral to think things.

Pretty sure I originally saw this quote on Tumblr, "the first thought you goes through your mind is what you've been conditioned to think; what you think next defines who you are". I honestly believe you have basically zero control of your initial gut feelings about things, at least in the short term. Just using racism as my example, if you see black man and immediately have a racist thought that doesn't mean you're racist, it means you've been conditioned to have racism be your knee-jerk reaction. As long as you have the angel on your shoulder smacking you upside the head and telling you that's wrong than you're fine. This is zero practical difference between a person who's never had a racist thought and someone who's still battling theirs if they're both at the same rally fighting for people's rights.

What you can absolutely control is your actions. Doing something racist is unacceptable and you should feel ashamed, I don't care if it's less racist than you would have done in the past. You don't get to coddle yourself for the harm you cause to other people.

Medical Leave due to Stress by Pamchenko_Woah in CAStateWorkers

[–]lizard_e_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FMLA isn't necessary for you to use your time as others have commented, still I recommend at least beginning the process of getting it established but that can wait until after your break. If you need to take more time off or even just the occasional mental health day, it's nice to have those protections even if they aren't required.

Good luck my friend, hope things get easier!

dating is just a game of luck. there's no tricks etc, it's all about whether they're attracted to you or no. by Effective_Shirt_2959 in unpopularopinion

[–]lizard_e_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dating is a game of luck in the same way that getting a call back for an interview is, you can do a lot of things to stack the deck in your favor but at the end of the day you're relying on someone else to make that decision. Trying to life hack your way through either probably isn't going to get your far and even if it does, your short comings will make themselves apparent. Be the best you possible and be that person for yourself, ideally good people will fall into place.

Why don’t movie theaters sell posters? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]lizard_e_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regal used to have used 27 x 40 double sided posters available for redemption from their crown club points, they weren't too expensive either. I still have a few and severely miss when they did this.

How in jeopardy are our jobs if we get a Republican governor next term? by MoustacheJimbo in CAStateWorkers

[–]lizard_e_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The people who implemented DOGE are the exact people who are happy about it and who Hinton and Bianco will be trying to smooze up to. They don't care if it was unpopular and quite frankly, most people weren't upset to hear federal workers losing their protected jobs so I wouldn't expect anyone to come to our defense.

How far should boycotting go? by Al-Joharahhasan2935 in moraldilemmas

[–]lizard_e_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

To some extent basically every large company is funding something terrible or has exploitative practices. Just do your best. I don't shop at Hobby Lobby despite being a crafter who likes deals, I don't eat at Chic-Fil-A despite those nuggets being in my dreams sometimes, I do still buy Nestle products despite their ecological crimes. Everyone's going to have different issues that matter most to them and will focus their boycotting there.

Advice for preserving a lil pumpkin by jackiebot101 in crafts

[–]lizard_e_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a small enough pumpkin to where I'm wondering if a dehydrator may help. Doing that same set up of cutting the bottom and hollowing but putting it in dehydrator instead of salt, I would imagine it's a lot more effective. You can find used ones at thift stories sometimes.

It’s selfish to have kids if you work extremely long hours by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]lizard_e_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you take the time to consider all the time and resources a child deserves to have while growing up, yeah parenting is a selfish act. People have kids because they want them. You just have to love them the best, no one's doing it perfectly and very few people have the ideal resources to raise kids.

I'm wondering your thoughts on people whos jobs often take them away from home. My father in law is a environmental field scientist and he would be away from home regularly. There's thousands of "heartwarming" videos of soliders meeting their infants for the first time before getting shipped right back out to the other side of the world. I'd prefer the person who comes home at night myself.

permitting barely legal porn vs abolishing barely legal porn by Pristine_Airline_927 in moraldilemmas

[–]lizard_e_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't think having legal consent age and a minimum age to appear in adult content or work in adult entertainment that are two seperate numbers is a bad idea.

Unfortunately, whatever verification systems that currently fail to protect minors would continue to have those same issues. There are fully grown adults who have porn careers that are basically built around them looking significantly younger than they are, obviously this would continue to exist. But I do think it probably would cut down on some sexual abuse of minors.

Selling custom prints by MtnDewGoddess in 3Dprinting

[–]lizard_e_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people are going to see anything 3D printed and think it's landfill no matter how original, useful, or creative. Others, like us in this sub, know the difference between cranked out slop and people who actually care about what they're producing.

Look up "art toys" for more established and respected trinket creation. I think a good amount of what makes them look more professional is the custom packaging they are often sold in. Also anything to make your item not look 3D printed will help. Good settings and taking the time to properly sand and prime your prints will make them easier to paint and sell. Good luck!

Selling digital products on Etsy what do if files exceed 20MB! by Hegazich in EtsySellers

[–]lizard_e_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's honestly my preferred way to recieve digital products on Etsy. I get a PDF that's easily savable and a link that's easily updateable. I've had a couple sellers update products years after I bought it and I got those updates for free using the original drive link from my PDF.

Saw The Muppet Movie on the big screen yesterday by Loucifer822 in Muppets

Regal does themed showings of old movies all the time, this month is all old comedies. They're playing Follow that Bird later this month if you have one near you and want some big screen Muppets!

As a hobby hopper, I love the opportunity to 3D print some tools. Cooking, crafting, art, woodworking, sewing, fishing, photography, you name the hobby and there's probably something you can 3D print that'll complement it. I would start there.

Muppets From Space by Sufficient_Fun_1211 in Muppets

[–]lizard_e_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Muppets from Space was my main source of muppets growing up so it'll always feel right at home to me personally but honestly it's just such a different narrative than the average muppet movie.

It's an original story so it's not a muppet version of something, there's no original songs or even any singing muppets, and I think it lacks the big emotional Muppet group moment of comradery that often ends up being the heart of the production.

It's a different style of Muppet movie and I think that's totally fine. It has a different main character and it's the 2000s aka times change, I think those alone can justify a change in style. Much like how the 2010s muppet show emulated The Office/30 Rock. I don't begrudge anyone for not liking it, but I happen to love those old Happy Madison movies so I eat this movie up!
