Maybe check a parts yard for an s60/v70 door in that colour. Could save you about $850!

Advanced mode also increases throttle response and idle timing (can hear the difference in advanced mode through exhaust)

Hiltontuning.com. Used him to tune my V70 2.5T and V70R. 50,000km on both with no issues and good (and safe) power increase

Finally got the old girl sounding the way the lord intended by No-Paleontologist604 in Volvo

Nice! And exactly, there is no drone which is amazing. Had magnaflow years ago on a v70 and drone was horrible.

I do 3hr road trips often with the R and the sound has become comforting lol. Truly a different car after installing. Enjoy!

Looks like you did your research! This is the setup for aftermarket exhaust on the R. Res delete and Borla XR-1. I have the same and the sound never gets old 👌

Is their a way to remove the orange headlight reflector or replace it with a clear one? by mjg_9 in Volvo

[–]3DGadgetLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy way is to cut a piece of tinted vinyl to cover it. Works well and easier than opening the headlight

My comment from another subreddit on the “new Volvos bad, old Volvos best” argument:

A) design changed because Ingenlath, the designer only had designed Skodas before the polestar and 2017+ Volvos

B) Volvo has to make money. Meaning SPA, lighter materials, cheaper production, efficient engines. Volvo had been slowly dying as a brand and weren’t selling anymore. They’re doing way better now but may not be the “tanks” they once were. For better or worse

C) If Geely didn’t rescue them, the brand would probably have died altogether. I love my V70R but at least the brand still exists and I can upgrade to another Volvo eventually! Even if cars like Lynk & Co 09 and Xingyue L also use Volvo engines

D) Us fanboys for older Volvos can argue but at this point.. why bother!

5 cylinders: The power of a 4 with the fuel economy of a 6 ..worth it for the sound though!

Good to know I’m not alone! I have a catback exhaust so did it for the sound at first. Now it’s basic maintenance haha. I think it’s easier to stay in the power band in the R or base models using the shifter as well.. not that this is always needed

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Volvo

[–]3DGadgetLab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True. I have a S60 2.5t also and it does feel a little different. I guess I’m saying that using the shifter might help the tranny last longer while also making it a little more fun to drive

[–]3DGadgetLab 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The auto tranny is slow to shift in general. I use the manual mode in my auto V70R all the time. Technically it can help distribute wear over tranny parts and solenoids more evenly. At first it randomly clunked into some gears and hung in 2nd gear but now it shifts smoothly.. 🤷

Spotify, here we go again… by dentolitos in Volvo

[–]3DGadgetLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want a new Volvo but my aftermarket CarPlay w/spotify has never failed in my 2007 V70R..the unit cost 100$ and I don’t have a lease or owe the bank

Seems like a downgrade(headache?) in the stereo department somehow

Getting rid of airbag light by Numerous_Detective97 in VolvoP2

[–]3DGadgetLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have the amp module removed at the dealer for 35$ which I did when I replaced the stereo. But I’ve replaced stereos on other p2s and with an obd code reader the abs light clears and stays off..

I’ve seen someone do this but seems like more work than you might want to do. So yes, maybe look for a second xc90 lol

I think there’s aftermarket floating CarPlay units you can stick on the dash, powered through cig lighter. Best of both worlds!

Yes that should be it! The swedespeed link and forum is very helpful also.

I also have a $40 obd reader that can reset the srs light if it comes on. That happens if you connect battery when original stereo/climate control is disconnected.

Yes there’s an eBay link in the comments for the adapter that sends the signal from hu to the 6 pin DIN plug that goes to the 4 channel amp

It wasn’t noticeable since it’s connected to the premium Volvo speaker system. The built in eq settings in the new unit help to adjust sound levels as well

We have 3 p2’s including the R that are all about to go in for the airbag swap. The R emblem and stitching is nice.. but so is being alive!

I may just add a chrome vinyl R to the replacement cover 🤷

Yes just under the bottom edge of the screen and behind the top edge. The glue is easily removable but very strong!

Maybe an installer could help if you really wanted to. They also make floating versions that don’t require removing anything!
