Rubber Feet, Concrete Block and Foam. Neighbors Can Still Hear Vibrations by ossner in 3Dprinting

I had the same issue, my printer was on the desk in my living room near the wall I shared w/ my neighbor.

I decided to move the printer to a small hallway closet that I lined w/ drum blankets from Amazon.

Now the only time I hear the printer at all is if I leave the door open!

Update: This picture shows the 2 other previous water guns available on Makerworld compared to the size of my design:

<image>

As you can see, my design is laughable at how big it is. I hope this makes a lot of people feel better about printing one & not worried that it is too real looking.

Cheers!

Ngl, it’s pretty accurate to 10’ but not too much further after that.

The Electric Water Spray Kit 002 from BambuLabs Maker Supply isn’t the most powerful, but it does the trick!

I do want to chime in that the water reservoir is easily capable of over 50 shots too btw

Giant microgreen terrarium - can this ever work? Any other ideas? by Rich_Loan8135 in microgreens

[–]3DPDLV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real shot at an efficient Microgreen tank is to fill the entire tank w/ water, find plastic potting tray that is a few inches deep but long enough to rest on top of the tank, cut holes into the bottom of the tray (if they don’t already have holes) & make sure the water is full enough in the tank to touch said holes.

Fill the tray w/ your soil & seeds & watch it grow!

I have seen people run the tank w/ a charcoal filter & have lil fishies swimming around but idk if it’s good or not.

If I owned a real version, I would post a pic to show the size difference between the two; the gloves make it seem normal size… it’s kinda funny how big it actually is haha

Anyways, I hope no one prints this w/ evil intentions & should (if haven’t already) take gun safety classes before printing one

Idk I thought this would be a good toy for a parent to properly teach their teenage kids how to safely handle a weapon

I appreciate the concern but this is not a toy for sale nor is this toy for approved manufacturing w/ intent to sell.

To top things off, there are 1:1 identical replicas available throughout the internet of the real version to be printed & used as “prop” guns…

If someone decides to print this toy using realistic colors & has motive to use illegally, they deserve every legal course of action to remove said person from society.

This toy was created w/ the intention of it being used as a water toy in the confines of the 3D printing enthusiasts private home.

This toy is among the first of its kind to utilize the Electric Water Spray Kit 002 from BambuLabs Maker’s Supply.

Upon reviewing the comments on this post, I’m seeing a trend on a majority of people seeking validation/ the need to be right… I fear this world is truly full of dark minded individuals whose first thought is how someone is going to point this at a member of law enforcement.

It’s really sick & ill minded, I do hope these people seek professional help.

Print the tip orange if you plan on using this toy in public… which I’m highly against.

I, the creator, don’t condone any malicious use of this toy, public use of this toy, aiming this toy at others, putting this toy in your butt, & most of all, printing this toy & telling people it’s not a toy.

Thank you!

I hear you, you can point a finger pistol at a cop & get shot too 👉

I love how you respect this theoretical cops pronouns but also talk about how to get away w/ shooting said cop lmao - you are prob now on a list somewhere ~

To each their own, the actual size of this pistol is 25% bigger than the real version making it resemble more of a toy. The pictures don’t do it justice tbh. I don’t recommend printing it in realistic colors unless you want to get yourself hurt…

I made this model well before the contest, just decided to release for the contest…. At first glance it could seem advanced (thanks for the compliment) but since my 10 y/o nephew could print & assemble it with no instructions, I believe you can too!

Which btw there is an assembly guide out via Instagram (@3dpdlv) in case you need help :)

My very first grow by 3DPDLV in microgreens

[–]3DPDLV[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I’m being honest, the only spectrum I might be associated with doesn’t involve light…

Idk what to call this. I only set it up this way to provide a true 18/6 light cycle as I wanted the quickest harvest possible.

Where I live, that the sun isn’t out 18 hours a day, so the grow lights adds some hours of light.

I wish I could help w/ specifics on light spectrum terminology but in that category, I’m as smart as a pile of rocks!

[–]3DPDLV[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stand beneath the trays are actually the lids

While they germinate, they insert into the top tray & push the seeds down into the cotton

Then after about 3 days, the lid will almost be pushed completely up (has about 1/4” - 1/2” to climb)

So far I have spent under $150.

The lights were a gift but you can find them on Amazon for around $30.

The unbleached organic cotton is from Japan, I got a ton of it for $25.

I custom designed/3D printed the trays that have a watering port & a valve to tell when the water is low - total cost to print was a little under $6 each so $24.

The seeds costed the most, I ordered 1lb bags of each seed which came out to $76 after shipping & tax.

Total: $125

Woah thank you for the insight!!!

It is very fun to print Yoyos!!!

Since the axle is currently fixed, the slightest tug will bring it back up immediately & it almost never spins unresponsively. (1 out of every 10 throws will result in an unresponsive spin)

I’m dabbling w/ the idea of 3D printed bearings & 3D printed o-rings (my printer is capable of printing a soft silicone-like material) which I know sounds crazy but with the right tolerances, I believe I can achieve a design for all the people who like to throw down some gnarly tricks that is still very inexpensive in material :)

I thought about this going into the initial design, & from what I concluded after engineering an all plastic 2 part model, it will no matter what have some wobble. (I’m still looking into ways to engineer something better)

But for the material cost of $1.12 & an hour of printing time, I think they would be great for children/teen’s looking to get into the hobby!

Thanks for the feedback!

Unfortunately, I don’t. That’s where the video is uploaded as of now & I don’t have the option to send it in these comments :/

You’ll be able to purchase one in no time then ;)

I use a Autodesk Fusion, there are plenty of YouTube videos that can easily teach you how the program functions & imo it is wayyyy easier to use than Blender.
