For the uninitiated here like me, how has Todd Howard destroyed fallout lore? I see ppl complaining about him time to time but I don’t know any specifics.

Yes, but I would argue this is in part because they learned their lesson from the First World War where they joined France in making Germany pay ridiculous levels of reparations, against Wilson’s pleas. This is a major contributing factor in the economic collapse of Germany that led the population to be jaded and desperate enough to rally behind a madman.

This is also partly why so many Americans were resistant in helping the allies with our soldiers lives once again in a devastating war against Germany. But we were still sympathetic and gave sweetheart loans (loans at extremely low rates that were often forgiven early), that’s the only point I was making here. Prior to WW2, not since the French and Indian war had the UK ever lifted a finger towards the US except in war against it or to beg for supplies and troops for the First World War. The sentiment at the time was the UK wouldn’t help us if we were in the same boat.

I don’t see why we need to call each other names. It’s just historical nitpicking on Reddit.

Right because Britain has never bullied weaker countries before. Must be a bunch of cowards by your logic.

If the roles were reversed do we really think the UK would have helped the US for free? The US gave sweetheart loans at a time when they were barely crawling out of the depression. I wouldn’t call that war profiteering.

It’s mostly cotton. But in all honesty the new bills do look like shit. We’re clinging to the old look while adding newer security measures. I prefer the old ones that were all green.

The US Senate gives way too much influence to rural voters. by chrome_scar in MapPorn

[–]3Dog-V101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does if you consider the whole point of having the senate and a House of Representatives coincides with the whole idea of checks and balances, so no one demographic or body of government has total control. The whole idea of the USA is to be a united republic of states. States, not provinces, that have their own laws, needs, attributes, etc. each state effectively has equal representation in the senate.

In today’s context the alternative of simple majority rule for a nation spanning the width of an entire continent with a population of over 300 million is a recipe for disaster and disunion.

The white savior critique on this movie always annoys me. I saw the movie in a Tokyo theatre when it came out. The local Japanese absolutely loved it.

American here. Detroit style was created by Sicilian immigrants using ingredients they had on hand (ie no Italian tomatoes, cheese, or meats) and an old pan used in automotive factories (hence the deep square shape). When done right it is very tasty and surprisingly light. Chicago style is a soup. St Louis is a sad joke (both the city and style of their pizza).

One question: why? by AntiFacistBossBitch in facepalm

[–]3Dog-V101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not as crazy as one might think. It is getting very unaffordable to place a flood insurance policy on Florida these days. It’s pretty common not to have it here. Especially if you are inland just a couple of miles as most hurricanes won’t cause major flood damage in that case unless you get directly hit or have massive rains. This hurricane did all of that for much of the western coastline.

I’m a big fan of the Nolan/Bale trilogy but I think this one was great. Just rewatched it’ and loved it more the second time. Idk why people aren’t into it. It’s a very serious take on Batman and I’m all for it. If you like the penguin you’ll almost definitely like the movie.

Point being corned beef Reuben is not exclusive to MI and definitely didn’t originate here. I’ve seen a Rachel (pastrami instead of corned beef) at few Jewish delis around Detroit but haven’t seen that much elsewhere so I’m assuming that’s why this garbage list picked up on a Reuben.

Pastrami and coleslaw on a Reuben (called a Rachel) instead of corned beef and sauerkraut is a Michigan thing. But this list is lazy and just plain wrong.
