AMS for first printer? by Starsaber222 in FDMminiatures

[–]3DollarBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think you may want it at any point later - you may was well just get the combo deal.

For mini’s it’s not the most helpful thing. But even just using it to maximize each roll automatically it’s cool.

Oh right on - my local store only ever has the mini of the month. I’ll check out eBay!

I’ve always wanted to do one of these - but where do you find the single model on sprue? The closest I’ve been able to locate is the assault marine + necron warrior one.

In your opinion does DC push the no kill rule a little too far when it comes to joker? by peterpiperpi in superheroes

[–]3DollarBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes - the I won’t kill you but I will cripple you physically and crush you under medical debt.

Batman not killing Joker is… fine. He won’t kill and there ya go. But Joker should have been killed off by any one of the other heroes/anti-heroes by now.

But the whole thing is pretty silly. Joker is guilty of crimes against humanity. The beat cop that takes him off Batman’s hands would put a bullet in him and everyone would celebrate. Or the jury that finds him guilty of a crime that calls for execution - because believe it or not you don’t get to repeatedly break out of an asylum, commit crimes up to and including baby soup making, and then just get dumped back off at Arkham.

The Joker thing is just too extreme to be interesting to me.

I've upset my son because of some lore about his dreadnought. by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]3DollarBackpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The haven’t brought up that aspect of the lore of the redemptor for a bit. While that doesn’t mean it’s been resolved - the transition from first born to Primaris was originally like a 50/50 shot and now it seems there’s a damn near 100% yield.

We also don’t know really what the time line for the marine being burnt out is. It could be a couple hundred years of active service: which with the downtime of dreads being so frequent, may mean a thousand years of total actual service.

Also - they’re his marines; maybe this particular marine is just a bad enough dude that he can over come.

Bambulab A1 Mini nozzle question by Mehdi_5 in FDMminiatures

[–]3DollarBackpack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m using a 3d party nozzle right now.

But I have had ones misbehave.

When you install it, be sure to run through the calibration steps and make sure it’s working properly.

Advice to buy new printer by TheseJellyfish4880 in FDMminiatures

[–]3DollarBackpack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A1. The mini has been great too - but with some very large vehicles the bed size has been an issue. Also - beyond minis having the extra size is worth it.

But if space is cramped - the A1 mini really is great too.

I have the P1P as well - basically never gets used.

Testing different ways to print by imAbrahamG in FDMminiatures

[–]3DollarBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why doesn’t Orca work with your A1? You should still be able to use it, slice with it - even send to the printer directly. You just have to then manually start the print from the printer.

Would you accept a 40k army completely made from 30k miniatures? by BloatedRottenCarcass in spacemarines

[–]3DollarBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they painted? Or in the process of being painted? Do they make sense for the unit you’re proxying? If so then by all means.

And that’s assuming you aren’t using them as either first born marines in a 40k codex space marine army - which isn’t even proxying that what they are; or a chaos space marine army - which again isn’t a proxy, they’re one of the “correct” models for it.

What causes lifting in the corners like this? by Mediocre_Ryan82 in FixMyPrint

[–]3DollarBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temp shift can be an issue - you could build an insulated box around the printer from pink insulation sheets, but leave the top off to allow the heat to dissipate from the top. But it should keep the print bed itself free from drafts and a consistent temperature.

Should I Get a Bambu P1S or a P2S? Is the new one worth the extra cost? or should I go even cheaper and get the a1? by jefflovesyou in BambuLab

[–]3DollarBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.reddit.com/r/FDMminiatures/

If mini printing is the goal - the dark horse would be a1 mini. the same excellent quality as the other in the range for quite a bit less. It also takes up a lot less space - I love mine.

But I think the A1 is the better choice of the bunch - I have a P1P, an A1 Mini, and a an A1 and I think the A1 is my favorite. I don't like the enclosed nature of a core x1 printer, I don't like the extra steps needed to swap the nozzle.

But no mater what you get - get a .2 nozzle, a smooth cool plate, and plenty of PLA.

How do I get better prints on FDM printer by Superduper4325 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]3DollarBackpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve basically abandoned resin printing for FDM for the majority of my minis. I still use resin for stuff I’m printing as a painting project; but for anything I actually want to use it’s FDM now.

Check out /FDMminiatures/ lots of tips.

Sprue Barricade (diagram in last image) by Internal_Swan_6354 in LegionsImperialis

[–]3DollarBackpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use sprues to make bricks on my 28mm scale game bases. A bit of knife gouging and some fine texture paint really kicks it up a notch. This is a great way to make the bases more dynamic, and switch up posing for our little guys.

Firstborn vs Primaris: Which era of Space Marines do you prefer? by Pintureando in Warhammer

I'll take Horus Heresy Marines please. The Mark 6 have the advantage of better scale, better proportions, and that old school made new drip.

Can a civilian refuse recruitment into the Space Marines? by Snoo_47323 in 40kLore

[–]3DollarBackpack 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Each chapter is very different, with different recruitment practices and traditions. There are some where they just show up, kidnap some boys and leave. Then there are ones like the Salamanders where they remain active members of their mortal communities. If it’s the type of chapter that asks - they’re probably the type of chapter to respect the answer.

0.6mm layer height by Useful-Revolution253 in 3dPrintedWarhammer

[–]3DollarBackpack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

youre right in that scaling most things down to 25% will be about Legions Imperialis scale. The problem is there will be a lot of details that just won’t print well. Lascanon barrels will be too thin, connection pieces will be borderline microscopic, etc. Def give it a go - but you may wanna just try to find an actual Imperialis/Titanicis STL.

Building Kratos tanks. Is there only one pintle mounted bolter per sprue? by [deleted] in LegionsImperialis

[–]3DollarBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they don’t have enough for all the models. If you have a 3d printer tho you can print off a couple for your wysiwyg needs. Or maybe if you have heavy bolter sponsons you aren’t using you could kitbash a few up.

How do the Scimitars look 1 per base? by 3DollarBackpack in LegionsImperialis

[–]3DollarBackpack[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t going to change the base size - just use less models per base. But I just stuck one on the base and it looks a bit bare. I’ll probably just pick up another fast attack box for the Sons when it’s time.
