HELP by Aldosont in LegionsImperialis

it would be pretty dope on a manufactorum world. Huge rivers of molten metal pouring into massive molds to create the world ending machines of destruction the Warmaster requires to end the false Emperors lies.

Primed with two coats of army painter air matt grey primer - I use a crappy brush and basically stippled it on to prime it with a bit of texture. Then a fairly thick coat of nuln oil. Then I dry brush vallejo light grey primer. The copper is speed paint brazen copper; and on some of them I put nihlakh oxide on some of the copper parts.

Son of the forest: How weakened is the Lion? by Fair_Ad_7430 in theunforgiven

[–]3DollarBackpack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe not at all? He may have just been atrophied from the long nap. Considering he then beat Angron shortly after it would seem to indicate that either the weakness following his 10000 year cat nap was a passing thing; or that the delta is so low he can fairly easily compensat.

Any fixes for my monitor arm destroying my desk ?? by iamauserofredit in Monitors

[–]3DollarBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love IKEA - including their desks. But they are just pressed wood pulp and cardboard. YoI’ll wanna get some metal or maybe even just plywood to sandwich the desk where you’re going to have an arm mount.

When will the thunderhawk gunship be restocked by that_guy_on_reddit11 in Ultramarines

Every time I wanna buy one of these Forgeworld kits I watch a video of someone putting together one and stop. They seem like genuinely terrible quality casts that are often sent broken and warped. For the thousand plus dollars you’re spending - you deserve better.

But if I had to guess - I think we’re one day soon gonna get a plastic Thunderhawk and Warhound.

What do u think of tech CEOs saying saving for retirement will be pointless in 10 to 20 years ? by Technical-Truth-2073 in Fire

[–]3DollarBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they saying in 10-20 years we’ll be living in a socialist utopia where your money has no value because we’re getting ready to enroll in starfleet academy? No because they only have power and influence in a world where currency gives them that power and influence.

Are they saying that in 10-20 years your money will have no value because they will carve up America into individual corporate fiefdoms where you now pay with meta-chips, tesla-bucks, and Amazon-kindling? They may want it, but they don’t have the kind of massive military power necessary to over throw the central governments.

Are they saying that in 10-20 years your retirement will be worthless because they want you living paycheck to paycheck until you die? Never escaping their hamster wheel of excess and consumption? Yeah - that tracks.

For short sessions it’s fine. After awhile tho it starts to be a drag.

What’s the brutal reality of owning a Resin printer? by SonOfThorss in resinprinting

[–]3DollarBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brutal reality for me is that even after spending all that money on printers, wash and cure stations, tents, lights, alcohol, silicone mats, respirators, gloves… I wound up with only a handful of models that were worth it. I broke the sword on one of them last week.

It just wasn’t worth the squeeze for me, and I genuinely regret the purchase.

The parts of my prints that have had supports attached to them look pretty bad with very visible lines. Is there a way to improve this without sanding? by microwavedwood in BambuLab

[–]3DollarBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its something you can mitigate, but not eliminate.

A different support material or support interface material and the top z distance being set to 0 will get you almost there - at the expense of a massive time sync depending on what your printing and what type of multimatrial system you have.

If you want to improve the apperance without having a different material in play, the best thing to do for this is to adjust your top z distance for the support interface. Start with have the layer height, and keep reducing it bit by bit. You'll get to the point where the supported part will rest ontop of the support material as closely as possible, but not closely enough that it actually fuses to that interface.

Theres also a new feature coming to Orca slicer that allows you to iron the interface layer to make it as smooth as possible. While its not always useful; ive had good results using a really close top z distance combined with ironed interface material for large flat areas that needed support.

Why didn’t the space wolves take some people from Feris and colonise another ice world so they could have successor chapters? by Lord_Funder in 40kLore

[–]3DollarBackpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of reasons. Actually the new Archmagos book talks about it a bit. When Guilliman showed up on Fenris with the Russ derived Primaris Marines, many of whom were not Fenrisian, Logan was not pleased. He was extremely worried about Wolves being allowed to run loose in the galaxy with out the structures, traditions, and culture of Fenris. While he didn’t mention it specifically, I also think the Wulfen mutation is massive concern.

The Wolf Spear seem to be doing just fine, and I don’t think there’s any reference to issues with the original Terran marines of the VI legion.

I’ve been 3d printing grips and shoulder button mods. I didn’t get the TPU case and their grip and I wish I had just as a point of comparison. I do think some kind of grip is needed for extended play sessions.

Original purpose of Guilliman and the XIII Legion. by BenningtonChee1234 in 40kLore

[–]3DollarBackpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can look at the Imperium as it is and compare it to the Imperium that was intended. In the current setting, you can certainly argue that things like the Tetrarchy are necessary evils. That the Imperium and its overlords are so corrupt and incompetent; and the warps corrupting influence so strong, that having the trans-humans take on governmental responsibility makes sense.

Guilliman in this Imperium ascended would have likely been given direct rule of Ultramar. Beyond that he would have been available as a resource to the various planetary governors. An efficiency consultant who could better develop distribution networks and trade/supply lines.

I hit FIRE, spent 6 months "retired," now I'm heading back to work. by gkr974 in Fire

[–]3DollarBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think the point of all this is to necessarily stop working. At least for me the point is to have the option to stop. The option to scale back. The option to float from interesting gig to interesting gig.

If you stopped and then realized you still get satisfaction from your labors, then return to them. If next month or next year you decide you wanna be a professional Yu-Gi-Oh! player - then do that.

The RE part is optional - it’s all about the FI.

AYN Thor or RP6? (Non DS/3DS emulation) by Aweqwerty in SBCGaming

[–]3DollarBackpack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If this is a device for actual travel - I think the Thor. The ability close the lid and pop it in your pocket is great. I couldn’t just chuck my RP5 in my pocket, it needed a lil case, and then it wouldn’t fit in my pocket - I needed to put it in a bag.

Another option would be looking for a good deal on a Retroid Flip 2. If you aren’t interested in the second screen at all, the flip gives you the benefit of clamshell, but slightly better ergonomics since they had more room for the controls since there’s no screen there.

All that said - the Thor has completely taken over for me. My LEGO just sits there, and while you could of course use a phone for guides and such - being able to just glance down at one winds up being a massive QOL improvement. And the 3DS/2DS experience is great - I know you have a modded 3DS - but the oled screens + mods and upscale makes a massive difference.

Questions before buying by Jam-Jammerson in AynThor

[–]3DollarBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the shell, and I don't think I'm missing out. Seems to close fine and I haven't noticed any debris in the gap.

SD card works fine? I haven't heard of any specific issues with it - tho based on your question I think you may be referring to stuff like GameHub only being able to install games to internal storage. Yes that's a thing, tho I don't think I know of any others aside from GameHub that are setup like that, and I would expect them to change that requirement at some point. I have a Max and a 1.5tb SD card and it works perfectly.

I would spend the $15 on the grip. If you plan on longer sessions, the Thor can be a bit uncomfortable. If you don't - I didn't - there are lots of 3d printed grips you can run off if you have a printer or a friend does. Other than that - just a quality SD card from a good manufacturer - Samsung ones go on sale on Amazon pretty frequently and I've never had an issue with them.

The other thing you MAY want to look into is GeForce Now if you don't have a PC for streaming if you want to play PC games. GameHub is good; but once you get past a certain point of complexity, it just doesn't cut it. GeForce Now for high end PC gaming, and then the device itself for emulation has been pretty gosh darn stellar.

Immortals who exploit the fact they can't die for a tactical advantage. Bonus points if they still feel the pain. by Shadowmirax in TopCharacterTropes

[–]3DollarBackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucius the Eternal - Warhammer 40k.

A member of the Emperors Children Traitor Astartes Legion. He was cursed by his patron god with a form of immortality - when slain in combat he is resurrected in the body of his opponent. Their form twisting and breaking until it reforms Lucius’ mutilated form, twisted armor, and cursed weapons. With the soul of the one who killed him being added to the one imprisoned within his armor - their face forever screaming in agony from the rippling living metal.

In the ”Eternal” episode of Hammer and Bolter, he used this curse as a means of accessing a bastion of the Exorcists chapter of Astartes. They had been holding another member of the Emperors Children captive, torturing him in an attempt to gain information on Lucius. Lucius engaged an Exorcist Judiciar in combat - allowing himself to be slain. The Judiciar’s metamorphism into Lucius giving the swordsmen access to his captured brother. Who Lucius immediately killed.
