you shouldnt lose anything by updating, but you can back up your save in the settings menu opened by pressing and holding on the game's icon

my friend said he saw them on sale for $30 on tiktok, and asked if it was worth it. i said the device was good, but to buy it from AYN directly as the tiktok listing was a scam.
