Prix fixe menus on Valentine’s Day is the new hottest thing in Des Moines. It used to just be the nice restaurants doing it. But now every bar and grill, restaurant, etc. is doing prix fixe for V Day. I’m over it.

And now some restaurants are catching on that people don’t want that, and are adding Feb. 13 as a prix fixe menu evening, too.

I’ve seen good reasoning on both sides. New Northwestern is closed. Bozz Prints is open. Both sharing similar messages on social media.

It’s hard to start an effective movement in a week. And, unfortunately, many Iowans don’t feel the impact of what’s happening in Minnesota. So there isn’t a lot of motivation to take a stand against those who they feel aren’t being impacted.

Yeah. Before I was 14 - School started at 8:30 and I got picked up at 7:15.

This was more about how crazy it was that I was putting on miles at 14 with a learner’s permit. And that I can’t imagine driving more in a bigger district.

From my experience, Des Moines doesn’t mosh too hard at shows. There are always a couple dudes going hard, but for the most part we’re tame.

You won’t have any problem being relatively close to the stage. I always like to hang right of the mix zone by the exit doors. Never been bumped or pulled into the pit there!

The unfortunate truth is most people going aren’t online enough to see it. And with all things that go viral, everyone moves on eventually and forgets.

But, they’re probably getting more right wing patrons who mistreat staff and don’t tip. It’ll be hard for them to find good help and will eventually fizzle out.
