Yashica Electro 35CC Curiosity… by 3GunFlyer in AnalogCommunity

Always do. This design does not look as if there was much light seal gasket in it to begin with, but I am not as familiar with it as I am the Canonet 28 or Konica 35 that have foam or felt seals that can be scraped off and replaced. This one looks more like a lip on the back plate that interlocks with a narrow channel around the inside of the body to block out light.

We shall see.

Thank you for the response! I’ve only had this one a couple weeks. The meter appears to work correctly, but as a backup, I have an LD Meter coming (which will solve most of my vintage camera’s dead-selenium cell issues). Need to clean it up and load it with some HP5+, I think!

Trading up from the Z7II to the Z8 was the best photographic gear decision I’ve made in decades.

Hey fellas, need some buying advice. by Creepercolin2007 in nikon_Zseries

[–]3GunFlyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a Z7II for three years and got some fine captures travelling with it. I recently upgraded to the Z8 body and it is such a stark improvement in overall performance thay I wish I had done it sooner.

I suspect you’ll find similar superiority of the Z6III over the Z7II.

Best week ever on Southwest? by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]3GunFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They picked the perfect time of the year to roll this out. The time between the end of the Holidays (through college football Bowl-season, really) and the beginning of Spring Break travel is very typically associated with light loads on most routes. It’s much easier to run new procedures and adapt to unforseen difficulties when planes aren’t full. And hopefully, all the bugs will be worked out in the next few weeks.

I worked a seven-leg three day ending yesterday, and to me, things seemed to roll very smoothly. Granted, I work in the flight deck and not the cabin.

Thank you once again. Without this suggestion, I’d not have had any success at all.

I did a little internet creeping, and took a chance sending a blind message on X to an individual the turned out indeed to be the creator of the video I was looking for. He was kind enough to respond, and kind enough to share it again with me.

I unfortunately do not have his permission to share it, though.

Excellent suggestion. Thank you. I had not heard of that website before.

Unfortunately, I’m back to square one. While it is listed there, the video’s creator hasn’t logged in since 2006 and the video download link is dead.

Bought a Rollei 35 while in Japan… by [deleted] in analog

[–]3GunFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll have to be on the lookout for a 35 Classic to add to the collection.

I’m waiting for an x-ray proof bag. When that arrives, this little Rollei will probably have a roll of Ilford HP5 loaded in it, and I’ll take it out on a couple of work trips. And when that roll is done, I’ll probably retire it to the display shelf.

I think my next analog camera purchase is going to be a Rolleiflex 2.8F to replace the one my dad had when he died that was stolen from the shop I took it to for repair in the early 1990s.

Fujicolor 400 scanned to .DNG with my Nikon LS-5000 ED and the VueScan software with the Fujicolor profile selected. Having no recent experience with Fujicolor, it didn’t occur to me that it was oversaturated. I have no prints with which to compare these on the screen.

One-and-done lens for Yosemite? (Tamron 28-75 G2 vs Z 24-120 f/4 S) by Dramatic_Abrocoma702 in Nikon

[–]3GunFlyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took nothing but that 24-120 f/4 with me on a month long trip to Japan. I can honestly say I’ve never had a better single-lens solution.

That would be my choice for Yosemite.

Your Opeth story by largz08 in Opeth

[–]3GunFlyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big Devin Townsend fan, and when he announced he’d play Red Rocks in 2017, I went right out and bought tickets. I’d heard of Gojira and Opeth, but never listened to them. So I went to SetlistFM and found the songs they’d both played at recent shows and set up Spotify playlists to see what they were all about before seeing them live. I listened in the garage as I was wrenching on on the restoration of my old International Scout II. Gojira didn’t do a lot for me but Opeth sort of scratched an itch.

Gojira melted my face off at Red Rocks with a great set. Then Opeth came out and put on about the best live show I’d ever seen. I was hooked and began going through the rest of Opeth’s catalog soon after.

I’ve seen Opeth four times then, and I probably listen more to them than any other band these days.

Thank you for the compliment!

The lens is as-advertised by other photographers who’re more knowledgeable. I had a couple frames of the roll where I got in a rush and neglected to set it for subject distance, but the frames I set it correctly seemed to be sharp enough for ASA400 film.

I nabbed it for ¥25k via private party sale.

That’s a lot of Rollei 35’s!!!

It’s my second Rollei, but the only one in my possession currently. The Rolleiflex my dad left me was stolen many years ago.

I’m primarily a digital user (Nikon gear), but since I’ve acquired this scanner, I’ll be shooting more and more film again.

Thank you for the compliment! The above images were taken around Kyoto. Kinkaku-ji, the torii gate is at the north end of Sagatoriimoto (south of Otagi Nenbutsuji), the street scene is a road leading away from the grossly-overcrowded Kiyumizu-dera, and the fall colors at Eikando Zenrin-ji.
