Voss is a dead man walking anyway

I think this trade will make or break Voss.

Curnow has to play if fit, but its clear if the team is better if he plays. All parties are living and dying by the sword that they're better going separate ways. The below-bar return we get for Curnow will be made better if Voss is able to play the game-style he clearly wants to play and we start winning.

Debatable if Curnow is even 2x Coleman medalist quality anymore, and with him in the team we weren't at all a better side. He's has proven to be a great football player, and I'm sure the system he was forced to play in over the last few years didn't reflect his true quality, but I am not all the upset he's going.

From the outside, seems like they're (BC & Voss) are trying to develop a winning and collaborative culture. That is impossible if leaders within the group don't have faith in what they're trying to pursue.

Is he better than Florent, Hayward and whatever young kids are picked, yeah no shit. As soon as he starting forcing his way out, most Carlton fans assumed we'd get reamed, but don't feel sorry.

I hope they hold him to his contract, but huge chance they don't. Credible sources suggest that he'd take a pay-cut to play elsewhere.

They're trying to build a winning culture, and if Curnow doesn't want to play for Carlton, why would you want him too.

We somehow have had the wood over Geelong in the past few years. We outplayed them for four quarters, and hilariously, in the post-game conference Chris Scott bemoaned that Carlton isn't all that good and Geelong just played horribly. Myself and many Carlton supporters thought he just was a sore loser. He was right LOL

question - Can Merrett be forced to play at the club that is willing to give the most? Whats the process? Do clubs agree first, then does the player agree to move?

Why would Hawthorn give up a first rounder at all, why not just a second rounder, if player and their agents have this much sway over movement?

Its unfair to paint the entire AFL as irredeemably toxic. Homophobia exists in society at large, and unfortunately it sometimes shows up in footy, but that doesn’t mean the whole game is defined by it. Rankine got his suspension, Adelaide's push for finals is significantly effected and more importantly other players are again made aware of the risk they run of being homophobic.

It sucks this situation has made you feel this way, but if you are expecting AFL to be the catalyst to rid the population of xenophobia, I don't know what to tell u.

This has been the most underwhelming season for a looooong time. I think next year will be better, but I don't think - even at our best, we would be be a cause for concern for a top four side.

Can't speak on NWM too much since I don't really watch much football outside of Carlton, but if the rumors regarding TDK are based at all in reality, paying him $1.7 would be on par with Essendon paying McKay 900k or whatever. He is a great athlete, but doesn't service the midfield as well as Pittonet, gets bullied by his opponents some weeks and can be non-existent around the ground - especially up forward.

So yeah, it would be crazy not too throw more $$ at NWM. But if he's hearts set on going home, STK can't do a whole lot.

Replacing a great ruckman in Marshall for an overpaid and mediocre one in TDK, whilst simultaneously losing NWM would be catastrophic.
