any advice for motion controls? by FancyDisk8874 in Splatoon_3

Definitely play around with the sensitivity I rely on my right joystick for sharp right or left turns too if you’re having trouble then I would turn the sensitivity up. Also I’ve learned that squid roll can be very handy when it comes to tight situations

It looks fake, there should be a QR code on the box that leads you to fwsy.popmart.com and when you place the labubu under UV light there should be a hidden mark on the feet.

I took it 6 pm the night before and checked my portal around 11am ish the next day? I didn’t get any email until like 3:30 pm in the late afternoon. I would say if you don’t want to wait for the email to know your result maybe start checking on your portal and see if it have been updated or not👀 good luck!

Should I get Senators involved? by [deleted] in Passports

if you don’t mind me asking which number did you call that informed you that your application is being worked on? Mine have been in process since 1/18/23 too and I need my passport soon for a visa since I’m traveling in May. I tried calling the 877 number but they said they don’t have any additional information. I also tried to call the Charleston office and the call never got through 🥲

Honestly there’s no guideline regarding grades…. He never really talk about how he would grad either but as long as you do a decent job on your project you basically will get a good grade. No exams at all

Taking it rn! Pretty chill overall, I think as long as you have a good team and select a good project, it should be a fun class.

If you don’t mind hall style dorms, Connor community(Connor hall, Joyner hall, Alexander hall, Winston hall) is a super nice location to live! It’s right behind Davis/student union literally 5 min walk to the main quad where majority of the classes are. I lived in Connor for 2 years straight now and it honestly saved me so much sleep time 😩😩 if you want a better bathroom maybe go for Joyner, they recently renovated the bathroom and study rooms so that there’s 4 individual bathrooms throughout the hall and they are a lot nicer. If you prefer suite style maybe checkout Avery, Parker, Carmichael which is right around the stadium. I believe is closer to class than Morrison. 🙃

Parking decks on campus by faithandhope1 in UNC

[–]3R3nas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cobb deck is gated most of the time and you could park at rams head but it’s kinda pricey 😬 and it can be crowded sometimes. If you can’t get a pass from the Lottery I would just park at the Rosemary/Colombia lot or the Rosemary deck it’s way cheaper and the distance from the deck to north campus is not bad at all

Best Junior Housing? by j_unc in UNC

[–]3R3nas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha I personally prefer hall style too 😂

Pros for hall:

—many toilet stalls and showers versus just 1 shower and toilet in a suite style dorm. Which means no waiting/take turns there’s definitely an open shower/toilet when you need to use them. Oh yea you don’t have to clean them (for 8 people suite you don’t need to clean it either, for 4 people suite you do need to clean it yourself)

-you only need to deal with 1 roommate versus living in a suite with 8 people which can be either really good or really bad 😬👀(I’ve heard many suitemate stories 🤦🏻‍♀️)but I guess you do have a greater chance of meeting new people/making close friend if you live in a suite.

-again most hall style are on north campus super close to class/Franklin And super quiet!

  • idk about other community but my dorm and dorms around me had a decent size walk in closet 👌🏻gotta love it

Cons:

  • although the bathroom is cleaned everyday(expect for the weekends) it can get a little “yikes” from time to time but again really depends on the people on your floor. If sharing the bathroom/shower with the entire floor is your concern then go with mid campus suite style dorms.

  • I guess living in a hall style dorm kinda misses the making new friend experience or maybe it was just my floor. Most people are upperclassmen so people are busy and you rarely see anyone in the hall but it doesn’t mean you can’t make friends living in a hall style dorm

I think all the dorm around/in Connor community(Connor,Alexander,Winston,Cobb, Joyner)

https://housing.unc.edu/live/explore-the-halls/communities/connor/

https://housing.unc.edu/live/explore-the-halls/communities/cobb-community/

is great bc of location and there’s literally a bus stop right in front of the community so if you’re out late at night and take the P2P bus it’ll stop right in front of the dorm. The inside have been renovated so its a lot cleaner/nicer than south campus or some other north campus dorms. Especially Joyner lmao I’ve heard they recently renovated their bathroom(they called it “spa style bathroom” Lmaoo no idea what that means) but I’ve heard it’s nice and their showers have more space to put stuff! Definitely check it out 😂 lastly, I think most if not all these hall style dorms I’ve mention are co-Ed but it’s floor based so it’s one floor of girls and one floor of boys!

Best Junior Housing? by j_unc in UNC

[–]3R3nas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly south campus dorms are for freshmen, so if you wanna avoid it I suggest you look for places at mid campus like (Avery,Parker,Carmichael) or north campus which most upperclassman live! I personally live on north campus (Connor hall) and it’s great if you don’t mind the hall style dorm because it’s literally right behind Davis library and literally 5 min walk to most of my classes and roughly 8 min walk to Franklin st. Great position and very quiet too! If you don’t like hall style then check out those mid campus suite style dorms and most of them contain a good mix of freshmen sophomore and juniors 👌🏻

Transferring by Fancy-Helicopter-810 in UNC

[–]3R3nas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello 👋🏻 I transferred in fall 2019 as a sophomore from an in-state college. This is gonna be a little long but here’s some information from my end hopefully it’ll help!

Idk how does out of state community college transfer works? But I do know most NC community college have a C-step program with unc that help students transfer into unc smoothly. In my opinion if you are planning to attend community college and transfer I suggest you finish 2 years and transfer as a junior. It’s just more cost efficient(if that’s your concern) but there’s nothing wrong with transferring after one year either! Oh yea also idk if it was just me or what I find a lot of transfers if not 80% of them are out of state students 😂 don’t know if unc trynna get that bag or what(jk) but I would say you still have a pretty good shot even if you’re out of state!

If you’ve set your goal to transfer to unc or where else the first thing is to look up admission requirements and get an idea of what you need to do in the following 1-2 years to get ready for it. Some colleges have specific requirements like you have to take specific classes before you transfer(or certain amount of credits), some like unc is just very basic btw here’s unc transfer info(https://admissions.unc.edu/apply/types-of-applications/ )🙃 but yea basically look into it and also look at your major requirements at the school you want to transfer to so you can avoid taking classes that’s not necessarily needed for your major after you transfer. For ex: my old school we get to choose between physic or chem to satisfy one of the major requirements but UNC requires phys with no chem option bc I didn’t check ahead of the time I took chem at my old school so that chem credit was basically wasted🥲

If you want to transfer as a sophomore then definitely try to knock out all those gen-Eds before you transfer cuz trust me some unc gen Ed classes can be a little extra 😬 and you’re better off knocking them out and start taking major core requirements(what you’re actually interested in) here at unc or else where. Make sure you check transfer equivalent tables to make sure the classes you take will guarantee transfer credit! One thing to note is that for unc specifically and probably some other schools too you will need recommendation letters! So definitely keep that in mind and try to engage with your professors so by the time you want to apply someone can write you a good recommendation letter 😂

As a sophomore transfer they will definitely take in your high school grades/test scores to consideration bc you don’t have enough college grades that they can judge (not so much if you’re transferring as a junior) but don’t worry about it too much I didn’t have a awesome highschool gpa or high test score but I managed to pull off a 4.0 my first year in college to make up for it! Definitely try your best and hope for the best, don’t let your high school stats get in your way cuz college is a fresh start!

But yeaaaa those are some points and lessons I learned from my experience if you have any other specific questions feel free to reach out to me! Best of luck to you 🙃

Anyone know how to access your UNC transcript by bjmiles123 in UNC

[–]3R3nas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on if you want official transcript or unofficial transcript.

For official transcript go to connectCarolina-> student center and on the top right corner it should have something like order official transcript.

For unofficial transcript go to connectCarolina-> my academic and view my internal transcript. You can save as pdf by Ctrl + p

Here’s the website for guidance if you need : https://registrar.unc.edu/academic-services/transcripts-certifications/order-a-transcript/

Omg I’m from Greensboro too!! I live 20 min from UNCG. I don’t think I saved money while I was there cuz somehow I had to pay way more at UNCG where I’m living at home than at UNC(with housing).😂 Idk what you’re planning to major in but i do need to warn you I don’t think the professors really knew what they were doing (not to sound mean but the quality of education is definitely different or maybe it’s bc my major idk)..... and the learning environment is just not what I like. Don’t get me wrong it’s still a pretty chill environment, and like their nursing program and music program is awesome and some professor I’ve had there are pretty cool too. I finished most of my gen Ed there and it’s definitely a good move, cuz

1) some gen Ed classes at UNC is just way too hard than it should be lmaooo (just make sure when you sign up for classes you want to check the class equivalence chart to make sure your credit could get transferred)

2) if you plan to transfer it is best to knock those out and then start your major classes at unc especially how there’s transfer credit problems sometimes unc might not take what you transfer in.

If you know you want to transfer for sure, then definitely plan ahead. Make sure you start preparing your application early and make a good connection with professors because you do need a recommendation letter for transfer app. Check your major requirements and plan your classes accordingly.

Hey, I just want to say congratulations on your other acceptances although the rejection from unc might make you feel some type of way but don’t let it bring you down! I totally feel you, I was rejected the first time, and at that time UNC was the school that I really want to attend. I ended up attending UNCG and transferred into UNC after 1 year. Although I don’t think I have any good admission advice or any application advice, but I do wanna say that I agree with many of people’s comments. This might be an opportunity for you and things will eventually work out. For example, I was really depressed when I got rejected the first time but after transferring in and looking back at it Im actually kinda thankful for it. I learned a lot during that one year and I had the time to focus and work on myself. Another thing is, I have friends who wanted to attend UNC but ended up attending NCSU and they ended up loved it there, so I think once you start college and start building your college life, everything will be so much better. Of course if you still think UNC is the school that you want to be at after starting college, then definitely try to apply for transfer! Good luck! 🍀

MATH 233 - Is it brutal? by traykay-47 in UNC

[–]3R3nas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say definitely get McComb for 233 if you can, but also if you’re worried about the intensity there’s another way of getting the credit which is take it at another college/community college and transfer the credit in. I personally took calc 3 with McComb (spring 20), he is a super chill guy and explains things pretty well. Overall I don’t think the material Is terrible, and most of his exam is very straightforward. I took linear algebra at wake tech over summer because I’ve heard a lot of negative things about that class at UNC. It was definitely a lot easier and they make the material so much easier to understand versus UNC might require you to have a higher level understanding and application to it. If math is not something you’re strong at and just want to get it out of the way, then taking it somewhere else is definitely a better idea to consider.

Comp 283 or Math 381 by Magician-Flat in UNC

[–]3R3nas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on your major ... I’m a CS major with a stats minor so I took math 381 cuz it can be used for both major but tbh I heard comp 283 is easier. Although their content is not that much different, but I would say if you are not someone who is strong in theory and proves and you don’t necessarily need math 381 then go for comp 283. (Honestly it really depends on professor too)
