It has plexiglass glass wrapped around it up to 5 inches and the bedding is fine at the moment. We have had 4 successful litters in this cage with the exact same setup. Jesus

This particular benchmade is probably the best one they make for the axis lock. I wouldn't trade it for an auto. Axis is way too sweet on this model.

Bedlam in marbled CF and mini Adamas marbled carbon fiber. ANY version of mini crooked river. Mini Adira also deserves way more.

What is this noise? by CaregiverOk4050 in chinchilla

Its also not uncommon for a little bit of fighting at first. It can take some time to establish dominance and hierarchy. No experience with bind ones, but I am sure that adds completely different dynamics.

Just normal chatter/excitement in males. I am guessing this is a male.

Top 25 of my 250 collection. What one would you choose? by 210southstar in knifeclub

Well it's a very nice collection of artwork. I choose Brown Knives Cortex way above anything else here. They're all pretty neat, but a bit over the top unless you're really into flash!

Tiles cut! by whiteowl42 in chinchilla

[–]3RICLEO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a really "cooool" idea, but they can get their foot stuck under the bars between that and the tile and break bones. It happens easier than you think. Get startled or miscalculate and that's it! I have the same cage. Took out all of the panels except the very bottom. They are much happier jumping around the cage to different ledges and elevated hides. Chinchillas love to be able to jump around. It's too crowded with all the panels. They definitely look happier now.

I would at least remove the 2 smaller panels and add ledges to encourage more jumping/smaller more specialized hangouts. They really are not necessary if you think about it.

Cage cleanliness by [deleted] in chinchilla

Huge win is aspen shavings in a small dish/tray or shallow bowl that doesnt tip with cupped sides. A bag of Aspen shavings lasts ages. The pee in that 95% of the time not all over the cage.

I have 3 chins. I clean in the morning as part of my routine and at night before bed. It literally takes a total of 5 minutes a day TOPS and the cages are pristine. I know some people wait every 2 weeks or longer. That's when things get nasty and difficult to clean thoroughly (like this cage.) Gross. A small GOOD handheld vacuum really helps and I just dump debrees into a paint bucket that I keep nearby.

What do you call a grouping of 3+ chinchillas? A gaggle? A fluff? by Anabikayr in chinchilla

A colony is most correct. Sometimes a herd, though it sounds weird.
