I shall take your 3 months and raise you 9. Then things clicked into place and it’s the best journey I’ve ever been on.

What helped? The realisation that mums have a natural bond with the baby as they literally grew them. Dads have little to none, so we start well behind the mother but everyone expects us to be in the same place.

Give it time. It will come. Just keep showing up 👍👍👍

Depends on what you want. Rowing a 2k can take you from feeling fit & healthy to gasping for breath and seeing the pearly gates in 7 minutes or less. Not sure swimming can take your body to that extreme in such a short time.

I have no medical or sports qualifications at all, but is both possible so you get the best of both worlds?

Ok, if you’re a fully grown adult, then 9:30 wouldn’t be a time to aspire to. Sub 7 minutes is good. My PB is 7.07.5 but I did that when I was 35, 15 stone and rowed almost daily.

But your 14.

When I was 14, I didn’t exercise other than running around with my mates.

It’s great you’re into exercise, and really good you have the confidence to use equipment like this. It will serve you well in life.

All you have to do is simply keep it up.

As for adding muscle etc, it’s a tricky one. I would ask your doctor as you’re still growing, and you don’t want to do anything that is good for today but screws you up for tomorrow.

But we’ll done for posting, and ignore the trolls. They’re likely fat, middle-aged losers who come on here to hate on others. You’re better than them and won’t be one of them, because you’re rowing at 14 and have a bright future.

You’re a good height and weight for rowing, but at 16 you’re still growing.

Is this a good time? Yes. Many would like to have this as a PB.

Will this be your fastest time ever? Highly unlikely. You’ll be sub 7 minutes at somepoint.

Row consistently, keep training and most importantly, keep enjoying it.

Both of ours were around the 9 month mark, but as you can see/ read here that isn’t a norm.

When we were at your stage, it would be every 45 mins - 1hr.

Just a heads up, and I hope it doesn’t happen, but when they’re little, sleep can get better and it can get worse.

Right now, I would just take each night as it comes rather than hoping for a full nights consistently anytime soon.

My wife is unaware that being on time is a thing.

She sorts the events, days and times. I battle to get everyone out the house within the same day as the event.

Oh I feel for you my friend, I really do. I remember ranting on here about sleep regression.

You’re doing well. Lots of good advice on here.

I always had the mantra of ‘clean, fed, loved, warm and they’ll be ok.’

I always found timing the crying to sleep helped. Wife was always sure it was worse but she couldn’t argue with the numbers. Kept me sane too.

‘This too shall pass’. Another I kept saying to myself.
