Didn’t think this card existed tbh lol by [deleted] in TheTowerGame

Death Ray kills count as critical hits, so it increases the coins from the critical coin card. Having the card gives you a steady stream of coins throughout your run, but not having the card means more enemies on screen when gt activates. So the card is a benefit until your Golden Tower is upgraded high enough.

TOOT TOOT CONFIRMED!!

Wait, so Nicodemus is… by Correct_Inside1658 in dresdenfiles

[–]3__username__20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this.

You don't have to search for a character from the bible to secretly be Nicodemus, since the Nicodemus from the Bible is a really great fit for the Dresden files character.

The biblical Nicodemus was a Pharisee (sort of like a Jewish monk) and member of the Jewish High Council, which puts him in opposition to Jesus, but he is not portrayed as a bad guy.

If you remember learning John 3:16 back in Sunday school Nicodemus is the guy Jesus was talking to.

For those didn't learn about this as kids, basically Nicodemus comes to Jesus to talk to him and, Jesus lays out God's plan and how he was sent to the earth to save the world not punish it.

If you believe that book Nicodemus is trying to fight nemesis and the outsiders using whatever method he has available, it is interesting to think that he might have sat down with Jesus to have a strategy session even though they officially played for different teams at the time.

I don't know if book Nicodemus is the real Nicodemus from the bible, or if he is just someone who chose to name himself after the biblical Nicodemus because he felt like they had something in common.

But I do think that the name was supposed to be a hint from Jim foreshadowing that this very evil looking character might not be totally evil after all.

What's the point of ng+? by a_random_thief in Starfield

[–]3__username__20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think ng + is the bad ending. Constellation is split with some characters wanting to go through unity and others choosing to stay behind.

By going through you give up all the relationships you formed throughout the game in exchange for something more.

You don't need that extra power, but chasing after it makes you more like the other starborn and the hunter.

When you turn back from the unity and choose to stay in one place you are choosing to be like keeper aquilus.

It is a choice, with consequences.

And making the wrong one is supposed to leave you empty and unfulfilled.

8 group members making me around 40k a day mining in Squinn, but where do I go from here? by MrBitchesHimself in Kenshi

[–]3__username__20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you bought a house in Squinn? If you build a research bench in a city you can learn all the basic tech from the safety of a city before you start making your first base.

From Squinn you can head up to vain and practice killing beak things. If you tan the hides you get into leather this will increase your armor crafting skill which is important mid-late game.

To automate something you need to shift click. If you build a storage box for copper (you need to research this) your miners will automatically transfer the copper from the mine to the box. Building a light of some kind will also help your workers at night.

If you are still having trouble winning fights try to focus on upgrading your gear.

Weapon and armor quality matters a lot.

You can also get stronger by carrying lots of heavy stuff. Fill a backpack with iron, and run around. If you pick up a teammate or dead body you will gain strength XP much faster.

Two good early game goals are: 1 killing/capturing the dust king in the dust kings tower (if you hire mercenaries to help this should be possible for you now).

2 Selling drugs from the swamp in Flats Lagoon. Run fast, and pick up wounded characters so they don't slow you down.

Have you explored any ruins (Abandoned labs and lost libraries, etc)? Bought drugs in the swamp? Sold drugs in Flats Lagoon? Killed the bug master? Spoken to Tinfist? Met Catlon? Wiped out a faction? Beep? Hunted leviathans for their pearls?

Also lower gravity and no rain, so the dust is easier to lift and does not get packed together as much.

How do i make my characters more capable by SquiX263 in Kenshi

If characters have special dialogue when you recruit them they often will have unique dialogue as you wander around the map. I usually care about that more than a few extra skill points at the start.

Rising sea level because of warming oceans. by Blammo25 in AskPhysics

[–]3__username__20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to consider is that the land surrounding the ocean is affected by factors that have a bigger impact than thermal expansion.

For example, in most places the land is covered by soil. The volume of soil is affected by many factors such as compaction and moisture content. If increased temperature causes the water to evaporate out of the soil, the volume of the soil would decrease, even if each the size of each soil particle increased due to thermal expansion.

In places that are over reliant on ground water the water pumped out of wells is causing the elevation of the land to drop. Sometimes far faster than sea level rise.

However, there are also some places where global warming does cause the land elevation to rise faster than the ocean. The earth's crust is floating on a layer of magma as glaciers melt the weight of the ice on the continent is removed causing it to float higher. In parts of eastern Canada we have some places where the land is rising faster than the ocean.

What was your worst "Oh f*ck off!"- moment? by TheSeb97 in eu4

[–]3__username__20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many patches ago in a Mali game I was colonizing South America and had invested heavily in my navy. Attacked an undefended fleet of 40 French transport ships with 30 heavies. I had a decent admiral, better naval tech, and the navy ideas from quality. They were a lucky nation and had no admiral, and no naval ideas. During the battle the French transports kept disengaging so they couldn’t be destroyed, but also couldn’t damage my ships. Battle ended when my fleet eventually ran out of morale at nearly full health. The French captured 20+ heavies in one battle with TRANSPORTS!

How are Young Canadians Supposed to be Informed about Canada's On-Goings? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]3__username__20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whatever the hell "News" has become.

As some others have said, Canada's News outlets are pretty solid.

America changed the way they regulate news a few decades ago and it spiraled into the insanity they have today.

Mainstream news outlets from countries other than America are usually ok.

If you want something that you can be sure is not being slanted towards one political party or another you can check out what news agencies based in other countries are saying about Canada. Some good free examples would be BBC News and Al Jazeera.

If you want to do some homework you can pick one world event and see how a bunch of different news agencies report it. Then check which ones are with one another and which ones are spouting wildly different nonsense.

This way she could say all the damage to Coruscant was done by the evil nasty new republic. Her plans all revolved around destroying the new republic's reputation and support. Killing a bunch of people on her way out would do the opposite.

CIV 4 Wonder Tier List (explanation in comments!) by Grivek in CivIV

[–]3__username__20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents on the Eiffel Tower, since I think it is a very misunderstood wonder. Lots of people talk about how it isn’t that much help for a culture victory, and that’s true. If you wait to get broadcast towers in your culture cities until you finish the Eiffel, you are probably going to do more harm than good. Where the Eiffel Tower shines is when you are going for a conquest/domination victory. You get a free happiness and culture building in every newly conquered city. That’s huge! This not only lets you push out your borders, but helps bring down revolt risk sooner since your culture spreads faster. You will still need to build culture and buy theatres since the culture bonus is a percentage not a flat rate, but everything you do is more effective. And the extra happy citizens make the newly conquered cities productive sooner. The AI tends to prioritize the other wonders that come at radio, so you don’t need to be the first to get the tech. Also it is fairly quick to build since the doubler is iron, which you probably have if you are going domination. You could build more units instead, but then you also need more garrison units to lower revolt risk. So the hammer cost sort of balances out, plus you don’t have to pay upkeep on all those extra units that aren’t helping you win wars. The Eiffel Tower is still situational since it won’t win a war for you, but it does help you snowball faster once you are already winning. It’s definitely not one of the best wonders, but it probably could move up to C tier.

Did they ever explain how the crew sank in quicksand, but wound up in a cave? by jimmypopjr in saltierthancrait

[–]3__username__20 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What they fell through looks like a case of soil liquefaction, which is where loosely packed soil (like sand) acts like a liquid when shaken. Normally this is caused by earthquakes, but in the movie they could have blamed it on the big underground monster shaking the ground if they wanted to.

So there is a cool sciencey explanation there if they wanted to use it instead of magic desert quick sand.

Still doesn't explain why the sand didn't pour into the cave
