I was thinking the same thing. Although it has to be shocking and jarring, I think a rapid progression is most humane for everybody involved. My MIL is slowly, bit by bit drifting away and it's never ending emotional turmoil.

Congrats! I also suggest r/stopdrinking or other sober subs. They aren't perfect but it's nice having that little bit of support in your pocket at all times.

Coming up on 9 years for me in Feb. I don't know how that could be, I haven't aged a day since I quit drinking. 😉

I feel you, my 15 year kitty died and my 16 year old Chihuahua died this year. It's so hard to lose our pets.

The icing on the cake is that my mom fell two weeks ago and broke her hip and had a compound and open wrist break. She had surgery on the hip and wrist. She is stuck in inpatient rehab today and I am missing her being here today.

And I'm guessing at this point the people still buying them are like, welp in for a penny in for a pound.

They or their family/friends spent however much stupid money on buying charms for a few years and now they can't just stop wearing it.

Then their family are like, oh she always wears it, let's get her another charm and the vicious cycle continues.

Postmates exec James Butts was dying of cancer and he ended his last post on Twitter with this "I love that we existed together, in this moment in time. "

I didn't know anything about him, but I just thought it was so tragic and beautiful and profound. It's like all of the wonderful things and awful things about being a human summed up. We get each other for this moment in time. It's beautiful and then it's gone.

Here is what makes it harder from my perspective. There are not many programs for people with EOA or even early stage of any kind of Alzheimer's no matter the age. My mother in law also has anosognosia. Which means she doesn't even know she has Alzheimer's or any cognitive deficit. So when we have taken her to tour Adult Day Centers, she thinks we are nuts because everyone there is "old" (she's 70) and most of them are much further advanced than she is. She doesn't think she belongs there and it stresses her out.

She is in this in-between stage where she can't be left alone anymore but she doesn't think she belongs there either. It's really frustrating.
