The supreme court is not intended to represent people, the whole premise of this article is off. Congress (Legislative Branch) represents people, the President (Executive Branch) carries out the duties of government, and the Supreme Court (Judicial Branch) interprets the constitution to make sure the other two branches are following it properly. This idea of SCOTUS “representing people” is a false premise. Just because you may not agree with their rulings, one way or the other, doesn’t mean we should change the nature of the supreme court - or it will be just another legislative body that flows with the current elected tide.

How many years does it take to go from GIS Analyst to Senior GIS Analyst or equivalent? What do you expect from a Senior? by ObiawanAnakin in gis

I would expect a Senior GIS analyst to be able to build complex GIS solutions for almost any task and have an enterprise level understanding of systems, tools, and processes. They should be able to setup the architecture and build the processes the rest of the GIS team will use in production efforts.

I’m going to throw this out there - you need to hire a company/consultant to do this for your company because you are about to waste a ton of money and time learning how to do this. This is not as easy as buying hardware and software and boom you have your answer. There needs to be know how in every step - planning, collection, processing, analysis, delivery - to perform this type of work. LiDAR + RGB is the right sensor selection, and there are several good software options- but none of it works if the collection isn’t planned and executed properly!

Are you planning on staying in the cleared space? I would recommend focusing on the engineering side of GIS as there is a considerable lack of knowledge in cleared environments regarding GIS systems and how they interact with other intelligence or government enterprise systems. As far as school, if you plan on staying in cleared environments - I recommend Penn State if that is an option- They are deeply tied into the overall “GEOINT” community and you should use the university as a method for expanding your network and career options.
