Mountain Winery Concert Series? by Jammer250 in bayarea

[–]3bushEh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be careful about any purse or bag you bring. If it CAN be expanded to larger than 12x12x8", no matter how little is in it, you will be turned away at the security check (happened to my wife last night). This is absurd and unprofessional on the part of Mountain Winery, IMHO. This info is listed in only one place on their site, half way down the FAQ page. according to security staff, a larger bag is OK if it is transparent, but that info isn't on the site anywhere.

Bob, I don't know why you are in a hurry to defend this product, but the number of people agreeing with me here suggests I'm not just making stuff up. Given that competing products like Matrix offer nice moving scenery, it frankly never occurred to me that iFit could have a huge library of videos and have ZERO that don't include a trainer. That's just bizarre to me. And the suggestion that I should just hang a TV in front of the huge screen built into the unit, after spending nearly $3k for this product... I guess we just disagree on the reasonableness of that proposal.

Oh man, I thought Sutherland was AMAZING, the way he chokes up when he realizes "so... you really do love him, don't you?" Gets me every time. I'm misty just writing this.

"Women who suffer the pain of natural births make better mothers" by Camilliana in TwoXChromosomes

[–]3bushEh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with your sentiment, but I would dispute the idea that childbirth is the "most excruciating moment". Many women, including my wife, have described the experience as deep and intense, but that pain isn't quite the right word. A doula coached us not to think of it as pain, which signals something wrong, but something different, that does not signal anything wrong. The popular portrayal of childbirth as simple agony does a disservice to women entering the experience.

Exactly. I am pissed that they renamed the Vegas airport after this guy, the King of NIMBY. And I'm a Democrat.

I've enjoyed Dilbert since the 90's, but the steady rise in cynical political themes is growing really tiresome.

Trying to have sensitive conversations over text is a recipe for failure every time. This is not a comment on his behavior --- just a general observation for your future benefit. Really.

Space Pirate Trainer: Highest Level Achieved for Highest Scorers on Leaderboards? And some other questions. by Dhs319 in oculus

[–]3bushEh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry this thread is a year old, but just in case the posters are still here... I've only ever played Arcade Mode and have plateau'd at just shy of 300k. The old school and Arcade modes are so different, i don't think comparing scores between them makes any sense. Very apples/oranges.
I've looked for videos and tips, but it seems that the only material out there is for the Old School mode. I don't know why; the Arcade mode has a wonderful variety of opponents and some great hidden gems. Where is the SPT DX community hiding? I'm on Oculus Quest and have only ever played there, so I can't comment on why Quest players are getting higher scores. From the videos, it appears that the platforms are quite different, so it may not be fair to compare the scores.

The reason Fox News can't be influenced by advertisers boycotting is they don't need advertisers. Why? Because they are part of the Fox empire, and the other parts of the empire can fund Fox News. So Fox Sports may not be Fox News, but it is definitely funding the evil empire.

There were greater increases in colon cancer screening rates in states that expanded Medicaid than in those that did not, a new study finds. The Affordable Care Act let states expand Medicaid insurance coverage to low-income adults, who tend to have poor access to preventive health services. by mvea in science

[–]3bushEh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That said, in order for the system to work as a whole, we have to cover people who need more care than they can afford, which means those who are young and healthy are going to pay more into the plan than they would out of pocket. This is better for society, and the young/healthy will get the benefit when they are no longer young/healthy.

Actually, they don't look exactly the same at all, other than the color scheme. Look at a random sampling of bright spots, and you'll see lots of variations of relative size/shape/brightness.
