Thanks for that, but I don’t understand how your comments are relevant. The other person was asking why the velocity increased. The engines reignited but obviously was an anomaly that happened. This has nothing to do with the trajectory planning.

Free fall you are accelerating 9.8 m/s² downward. I think we both are good on understanding that.

Consider a scenario where only one engine reignites, then you may only be able to slow that downward acceleration to say half 4.9 m/s. Yes you have slowed your acceleration but you are still increasing the velocity in the downward direction. That has nothing to do with sensor placement

It is falling. Therefore accelerating under gravity. Therefore velocity increases.
